Pink sky’s at night, shepard’s delight that was what he had always been told, he would have laughed if he had the strength too. Blood poured from his wounds across the floor of the cage he was trapped in, covering his naked body in the red liquid, his hands were tied tightly around his back but even if he was free he did not have the strength to move them. He was dying of that he was sure; and as he felt the last lines of consciousness drift away he heard a shout.
“Hey take care of him he’s no use to us dead”.
Falnyr felt his soul drift away from his body, fly away to freedom away from all responsibilities and fear. But it did not last. His soul slammed back into his body and his eyes flew open. For the first few seconds he was disorientated wondering what had happened but then his sapphire eyes focused on the figure in front of him. The medic drew his hands away from the prone ninja and walked out of the cage closing the door behind him. All his wounds were gone all that remained was a dull ache where before had been sharp pain. Something however was different. He could feel his soul inside him, was all too aware of it.
He lay there shocked, wondering why this had happened, wondering why he could suddenly know his soul in so much detail. The feeling made him sick at first, completely unaware of how to process such a thing, but as the sun set and plunged the world into darkness he managed to get used to the feeling. His sapphire eyes looked around the caravan, spotting the two guards for the first time they watched him closely in the torchlight looking for any sign of escape. With his hands tied up it was pointless even trying. He began to wonder what they were feeling, guarding a helpless prisoner with no chance of escape. An aura of colour burst into life around one of them lasting only for a second before fading away into nothingness.
Falnyr was caught completely off guard by this and he had to smother a gasp at what he had just seen, was he going insane? He looked back at the guard; the aura was gone now no sign it had ever been there. He looked again trying to grasp it back, will it back into existence but nothing came. Maybe he was going insane after all, as the thought passed through his head the aura came back into existence. It was a pale blue and for the second that he saw it he thought that it meant this person was relaxed.
How did he know that…? The aura sputtered out again and Falnyr knew that this time he had not imagined it. He looked at the figure again trying to repeat whatever he had done a second before trying to get that pale blue aura to spring back into life. For a few seconds nothing happened before the aura sprung back into brilliance once again, he smiled despite himself still proud of his accomplishment despite the mess that he had gotten himself into. He turned his eyes back to the guard and focused once again trying to get the aura to stay put this time.
He focused his mind and soul once again trying to make the aura that had been so clear come back to life. He reached out trying to find out what this person was feeling, he closed his eyes hoping that would help his focus and tried with all his might to make the aura appear. He opened his eyes. The aura had come back brighter than ever, swirling with colour around the peaceful looking man. For a moment he wallowed in successes proud at his accomplishment, before all signs of the glowing aura faded from existence.
Falnyr felt frustrated at this lack of progress and doubled his efforts, this time he focused on the other man. He tried to get that aura to appear again, this time focusing all of his new awareness of the soul upon this task. The aura burst into existence around the man, this time the pale red of simmering anger. He smiled as the aura did not fade away and he looked back at the other man to see the blue aura surrounding him. The caravan drew to halt and Falnyr lost his concentration the aura’s fading into nothing, at least he knew how to do it again if he wanted to.
