Led by the guards, I walked easily. Aki and Mai accompanied me and either side, both grizzly bears in their prime. Shade, my border collie, also walked with me, or more accurately, she walked out in front, sniffing everything. I took a moment to observe as we were lead into the area. A simple dirt clearing, nondescript with plenty of guards everywhere. A massive gated wall dominated the landscape, presumably the location of the next stage of the exam.

I was dressed in the manner I was accustomed to, essentially wearing only pants. My dark pants fluttered loosely around, the bottoms torn and ripped. A fully stocked utility belt held them in place, and a butt pouch hung down from the back. As for my feet, arms, and torso, they remain bare for the most part, skin interrupted only by straps of unfinished leather and metal serving as straps for hanging weapons and pouches. On my head I wore a tough, battle-scarred helmet that served instead of an ANBU mask. Built in to it was a gas mask with a class 'D' filter, a wireless radio running to both a mouth and earpiece, and a set of goggles with three vision modes: thermal, zooming, and x-ray.

Not moments after we had arrived, a nearby loudspeaker crackled to life, and the voice of an elder emitted from it. ....testing...... While I listened intently, I took quick stock of myself. I wanted to make certain that I had everything needed for this battle. Of course I always had access to my weapon seal for summoning extra shields and swords, but it was also quite important to keep items on my person.

Checking my utility belt, I confirmed that it contained 5 thermal capsules for combating ice attacks, 20 metal zipties, 5 bolas, and 8 goo capsules in the front pouches. On the right side were my grenades; 4 tear gas grenades and 4 percussion grenades. Looping around the side and towards the back I had placed 80 explosive tags and 20 additional tags that had been wrapped around little pebbles so that they could gain a bit of distance if thrown. That area of the belt also contained 15 each of smoke and flash pouches, typical ninja tools. On the left side I kept the mixture pills for blood clotting and soldier pills, 3 portions of each.

In my butt pouch there were 10 additional percussion grenades and my world map. Finally, half a pouch of senbon graced each of my forearms, totaling 50 needles. On my left hip a katana was sheathed in the traditional manner of the ancient samurai and on my left arm hung one of my many 3 foot diameter, lightweight metal shields. A similar shield hung down my back, hooked onto several of the straps crossing my chest. Underneath that shield hung an additional set of katanas, positioned so that the handle of each one stuck up above an opposing shoulder. This location was perfect to facilitate easy drawing of the swords.

As the announcements continued, I waited patiently for the next stage of the exams to be announced.

Axel came into the clearing taking note of the serious amount of guards and protection. This was interesting for the fact of the test to come before him. as he rode along Hime's back Rey laid on the top of his head while Exccel took up his right flank. Axel was by far not lazy but the fact of the matter was that Hime helped him make up for his lack of speed, though he hated to admit it.

"Axel Inuzuka" He came close to the Gladiator nodding to him and holding out my fist for him to tap, simply as a show of comradeship . He grinned soft showing off his fangs in the trade mark Inuzuka grin while his wolves bowed to him and sniffed their own comrades to become accommodated. Rey sat nestled in his collar and cloak knot while Exccel stayed alert Hime standing prudent and strong.

Regardless if the Gladiator did or didn't respond to his fist tap he would then pat his bag checking to make sure he had his equipment which consisted of 2 Trench Knives, 4 Kunai, 15 Hira-Shuriken, and 8 Tremor Stones. His 2 spiked chakram were situated on his hips for easy access while his Red Queen was secured across his back, he shifted his Shirayuki to hang just over his left chakram and moving Kyuushi over his left chakram, Though he couldn't use the blade in battle yet he trusted its sturdiness would surely come in handy with the trials to come.

The speaker came on as a gravely voice echoed through it betraying the man's age and condition. He listened intently along with his comrade for what their task would soon be.

(Sorry for the late reply. I wanted everyone to get along and communicate with one another and try to Start a little roleplay if you hadn't started as a team. Now that people have gotten their formalities taken care of we can move onto the needy gritty.)

"Test test," the voice over the loud speaker spoke again. "Is this thing on?" the old raspy voice continued. "Ah, good, greetings ninjas of various Villages. It is a pleasure. My name is honestly not important but what I have to say is. Look to your left, and to your right, the people that came with you are part of your team. Ain't that grand? I hope all villages sent more than 1 person or else this could honestly be a little...troublesome" he spoke in a calculating form. "This Chuunin Exams will be a simple one, an easy one of sorts if you like to believe. There will be no tournament, no written exams, no pesky chakra shielding floors or seals. It will be a 1 test, 1 simple retrieval mission. Behind those walls, behind that door is a temple, inside the temple is a very special herb. Anyone who comes back with that herb will be eligible to become a Chuunin for your respected Village. That's it. Simple no? That's all you need to do. Go in this lovely little forest, reach the temple, find this special herb that is about a foot high with rainbow colored pedals, and bring it back. I know what you are all thinking, easy right? Of course it is. You see we don't want to make things very difficult for everyone. We understand how hard and difficult it is to be a Ninja and we just want to make sure it is as simple as humanly possible. We hope to see you soon. Oh, and to know what's going on we set up security cameras throughout the forest and temples just so we can know where you are all at, at all times."

There was a moment of pause for a few seconds before the old man spoke once more. "Oh you may start when those doors open, just give a minute and we'll open the gates, and you can go right on in and scamper off. Have fun kiddies." he said before finishing with a hardy laugh.

A companion entered the scene, I felt him through the ground before I heard his voice. "Axel Inuzuka" He introduced himself to me.

"I believe we have met, although only briefly." I said, thinking back to a previous Takikage's inauguration gone bad. Realizing he had put forth a fist in greeting, I reached mine out in turn in a 'fist bump', although I was unaccustomed to such tradition.

Shade sniffed the newcomer and his companions as well, introducing herself and gaining their scents. I took a moment to walk over to the food table, picking up a few bottles of water and some packaged food, just in case we were in the woods for a long time. Storing them in my pack, I perked up and listened to the man over the speaker system continue, outlining the rest of the tasks that we would face for the near future.

Only one task in these exams, or so he said. Retrieval. Once the speaker stopped, I would approach the nearest guard, asking a question of him. "Do you have an example of the plant we are to retrieve? I would like to see it please." After asking, I would wait for him to bring it forth.

The large Gladiator's friendly approach left him a little thoughtful as the two walked over to the refreshment stand. It was very possible Axel had met this large man, then it hit him like a brick wall, or rather, steel shield.

The air was screeching with the sounds of horror while everything bled a dark crimson red. He was rushing through the crowd trying to kill the one who tried to hurt his wolves. But before he could close in on the target he was met by a hard wall and as he looked up the memory of the stalwart gladiator refilled his mind.

"Right... you were the AnBu that stopped me from killing the person who tried to kill the old man at the inauguration." Axel staggered a little holding his head remembering the events. He opened a bottle and tipped it back under his chin as Rey popped out form his shirt licking and drinking the clean water. After Rey he knelt down and held the water bottle to both Hime and Exccel while tearing apart a large hunk of meat giving each wolf an amount suitable to nourish them and keep them fed without hurting their stomachs. "I apologize for that attempt... Inuzuka are kinda partial to blood lusting."

As the intercom came on he looked up while the pack's ears twitched listening to the instructions making a wide grin spread across his lips and he looked to Naka who had headed over to one of the proctors and was asking if they had an example of the plant. Axel came over to him and smiled wide.

Hearing a negative response from the guards before me, I would quickly thank them and move on into position before the gates, waiting for them to open.

Even as I left the guard I would place my hands together, molding charka for a few seconds. As I started, some kind of alarm sounded and the gates began to open before me. The gates continued to open, revealing a foreboding forest before us. Glancing around, I would check that Aki, Mai, and Shade were with me, and also checking on the status and position of my teammate as well. In a few moments, a perfect clone would burst into position next to me. At this point the door would be open enough to enter, and so I would, accompanied by my clone and all three of my animals.

As soon as my clone was formed, both he and I would begin chewing spider silk in our mouths, working on it for a few moments as we moved past the gate. In a few seconds we would both pause, spitting forth a pile of golden goop each. But in a moment both piles would rise, forming into two more copies of myself. Looking around, my shadow clone and I would take stock of the situation just past the entrance. I wanted to get a good look at the forest before we started off. As we took stock of our surroundings I would turn to interact with Axel.

"Any preference on how we handle this?"

Shade would also sniff around a bit, seeing if she could possibly pick up on the scent of some of the other participants of the exams. She had not marked them in any way, but she had been in the same room with all of them, smelling like dogs do. So it was possible that she might be able to smell them and locate a general direction, at least.

Axel nodded to the man and as the gates opened he would quickly weave three sets of seals transforming all 3 of his wolves into copies of himself although each of them retraining a different quality, Hime feminine, Rey hyper, and Exccel grumpy.

With his 3 wolves he glanced at his teammate seeing the copies he was making and scratched the back of his head blushing a little feeling a bit behind. He went to stand just behind him and his clones looking around the area sniffing it to try to catch the scent of any of those they had been with while the small collie seemed to do the same.

"I'm not sure I'm a head on fighter, fire and fangs." He grinned soft holding his palms open showing off his claws and a few flames before dropping his hands and looking back up at him. "I can recognize a more experienced man then I and I'll follow you."

He smiled soft hoping that he would be able to work well with him as each of his wolves bowed to Marcellus in turn.

In this vast area, there were trees to one another approximately 3 meters apart from one another. The trees would reach about as high as the gate walls.

A few of the guards saw the number of techniques and type of techniques that the man Marcus performed and they nodded in approval. It was an interesting, and very nice tactic. It was good to see ninja of this day and age to think with their head.

As they would walk inside the gates would close behind them. If they turned around they would see multiple marks on the doors. Not claws, but piercings and slashing made by crude weaponry.

In this area as they would walk through this area they would see a few life signs, such as a bird or two flying into the forest before flying back out of the labyrinth of trees. About 30 meters in the same direction they'll spot a hive of bees buzzing along one of the trees somewhat low. The buzz was loud enough for them to hear however.

In this area there would be nothing particularly interesting other than the amount of trees laid all around the area.

(Let me know what direction you go, north, south, east, west. More you post the better because the fast you'll move. It's a massive area so don't be surprised if you don't see anything for a little bit, but keep in mind that there's other ninja around here as well. Personally I like how you're going about this. Very nice. You should be alright.)

My ally would turn his wolves into an image of himself somehow, leaving 4 of him matching the 4 of me. His images were not clones, similar but leaving some differences as well, such as their specific features. As I looked at him, he responded to my previous words.

"I'm not sure I'm a head on fighter, fire and fangs.... I can recognize a more experienced man then I and I'll follow you."

I nodded in recognition and acceptance, turning a bit towards the gate as it closed behind us. Taking quick note of the marks there, I would turn back towards the forest as I began to process their meaning. As I scanned the trees I would make a quick comment towards Axel, although it was likely that he had also noticed the marks.

"We are not alone in here, not counting the other examinees." My words would be accompanied by a slight gesture towards the door.

As we looked around and ventured tentatively into the woods, I quickly noticed a hive of bees. I would indicate it with my hand to show it to Axel, before approaching an additional 10 meters towards it. "I don't think we should leave that there, just in case. Could you destroy it in some way? Burn it perhaps? Whatever you want to do that would kill the bees inside. When you do that I can release my own bugs that will kill any stragglers."

Assuming we were able to coordinate our efforts, I would wait until Axel did his attack before releasing thousands upon thousands of kikai to attack and kill any remaining bees.

After we finished up that bit of business, I would trek out into the woods, all of us together heading north. All of us, but one....

Meanwhile, my shadow clone (hereafter known as Marcus), would pause a moment, forming chakra. In a moment a disk of red chakra would appear before him, and he would jump on it, racing out of sight in no time. Gaining a little distance from the others, Marcus would slice a neat hole in the branches above, allowing just enough space for him to get through. Once above the trees (assuming no other obstacles), Marcus would race off at breakneck speed, using his amazing hoshigake eyesight to see anything ahead in plenty of time to slow down and deal with it.Marcus was headed North into the center of the area. He was on the sharp lookout for the tower, and at this rate he was sure to find it first.

Axel heard the buzzing and cringed a little from the high-pitched buzzing as it filled his ears as well as his wolves. Marcielus noted the swarm and motioned to it asking if he could do something about it before he started seals.

"Yeah I've got it." he said grinning soft and holding The man's shoulder to stop his seals before weaving a few signs together and slowly the hive and bees grew darker and heavier with moisture. The bees froze quickly and fell to the ground as mere hail while the hive broke from the spot it was anchored and as it split open the cold air was sucked in side flash freezing everything within..

The display was typical of ice but Axel found amusement in his ability, after all you have to cherish the small things. Axel nodded to him as they continued forward together while Axel kept watch while his wolves tested the air making sure that they wouldnt be snuck up on. Hime and Axel both took up the Gladiator's right flank while Rey and Exccel took up his left, not as a sign of protection but simply as pack formation following the alpha.

As I watched, Axel would use not fire, but ice to destroy the bee nest. More details on his abilities, which would not go unnoticed. As we moved on, Axel and his wolves took up positions flanking me and my bears, with shade venturing out a little ahead. We would hurry along a bit, continuing to move north as we had been. We would only be slowed by any unexpected encounters as we continued forward with haste. In a short while, we would surely reach the next area.

Clone:
Upon seeing the stone outcropping sticking up above the treeline, Marcus would slow down and take a look at it. In a few moments he would know the look of the thing, including all of its apparent characteristics. Seeing such a structure would raise many questions in Marcus' mind, about the structure's nature and its makers. Taking a few moments of contemplation, Marcus would decide that the best course of action would be to find out more about this artificial rock formation through demolition.

His decision made, Marcus would take a few moments to mold charka, spawning forth another disk of red chakra. From this disk would erupt a total of 50 tendrils made of the same red chakra, capable of great feats and not easily damaged. Wary of traps, Marcus would survey from above and an additional distance of about 10 meters while the tendrils went to work, their actions following his very whim. Fully capable of lancing through the boulders, the tendrils would wrap themselves around each one, separating it from the others through force and dropping it to the ground nearby before continuing with the next ones. Before long the structure would be unmade in a similar manner to its construction, and what lie within would be revealed.

As the group moved forward together Axel held his nose wincing a little while his wolves followed suit. The stench of decay bugged him as he glanced to the West. "There is a rotting smell to the West Mar, I say we keep forward, if something is feeding no need to interrupt it."

If they continued on they would soon close in on the shadow clone dismantling the stone creation that had been erected. Axel slowed as they would near it while his wolves would do the same staying at the flank as they all caught the faint scent of rot present in this area as well. it was most likely that whatever killed the source of the rot but better to be safe than sorry as the four stayed on guard.
