Biographical Information
Personality; "A woman can say more in a sigh than a man can say in a sermon." |
||Outlook of a Genin||
Kana is a quiet girl most of the time; rarely being talkative to anyone except those treasured few she calls friends. Despite being deemed ‘strange’ by many people Kana is confident in whom she is, and won’t change herself for anyone. She is kind and generous with a good sense of right and wrong. Kana is a firm believer that respect and trust are not given but earned.
Intelligent is also something that describes the Kitateha well. She’s very well read, often finding her sanctuary among her collection of books. She enjoys using a large vocabulary and strange phrases to attempt to baffle whomever she is speaking to. Anyone who is able to keep up with her she holds in high respect.
She prides herself on her acting, being able to give off the air of being sweet, innocent, and maidenly. Something important to her training in the art of secrecy and disguise; it is only when she finds someone she can trust that she will let down her guard and reveal her more talkative self.
She’s meticulous about details and plans, but reliable in any situation. Kana works quickly and is very down-to-earth. Her attention to details does nothing to stop her worries however, she’s always thinking of how something could fail and what the next best plan would be. Definitely a perfectionist.
Unlike most who devote their life to being a ninja, Kana hopes to find love one day. Never having seen a couples love because of her distinct lack of a father Kana dreams of one day finding someone who can offer her the love her mother never received. Though her hopes are not so great to interfere with her work, and those who know her would never guess that this quirky girl dreams of romance
||AnBu Years||
Since the death of Himiko; Kana has found herself more talkative, though still secretive. She suppresses the sadness that has overcome her and tried to be strong for her. Her world was turned upside down in a moment and now she is in the process of bringing herself back together. With the death and her recent promotion to AnBu she is trying to regroup and make her country proud.
||During the Time Skip||
In the last two years Kana not only suffered through the death of her best friend but also the death of her father. Machiko Manor turned into a sanctuary of sorts until that fateful day. While still trying to cope with the sadness another change was thrown into her life. Mukuro came and turned her life inside out. The kunoichi is still unsure of how to handle this.
||Becoming Village Leader||
Much has happened since Kana has turned nineteen. Many missions and other under takings have hardened her into a down to earth female who easily accepts responsibility. One of the responsibilities being her newest ward, Sosuke. Kana has learned to deal with everything from the fiery temper of her ward to the malicious plotting of the village elders. These skills have proven excellent since Kana was selected as village leader after Lady Kotomi was ousted from her position. Kana is still new in her reign and weary of most. She is determined that nothing should go wrong during her reign.
||Attaining Chuunin||
During the exams Kana saw many horrible things, visions that haunt her to this day. The only saving grace to the awful exams was the coming of new friends from the Leaf Village. Upon her return home she was swept into the Cherry Blossom Festival and this brought the arrival of Kurenai Hyuuga. Thanks to the foreign ninja Kana has become more comfortable in her reign as Kage. She has settled into the position and feels more comfortable in her own skin these days.
||Present Day||
Much has changed for the young Kunoichi since her days as a genin. Today Machiko Kana is a self-sufficient young woman who just happens to be the Yondaime Raikage. She treats her title lightly and finds it foolish for people to bother bowing and tripping over her. She still fights her own fights and does not rely on her position for anything, especially considering her rocky relationship with the elders.
Perhaps those who contributed most to her change deserve mention here. First is the man known as Kaeor of Konoha, her acquaintance from the Chuunin Exams. A special bond developed between the pair during said exams, a bond of blood as Kana calls it. The normally taciturn Raikage finds herself rambling superfluously around this man and he causes her to experience emotions she can not name. Due to her lack of social interaction and observation this confuses the girl greatly to the point where she does not know what exactly their relationship is. She only knows that she despises being away from him and when he is there life is good.
Kurenai Hyuuga the one time Oni no Iwa is another who had helped Kana much recently. Kana understands the vastly transformed Kurenai on a deep level. Both women have scarred their bodies to become strong, though Kurenai far more than Kana. Thanks to their interactions Kana has opened up slightly and realized the true depth of a friendly hand and a kind word, and how important it is to keep promises.
Another large factor has been the recent missing ninja of Kumogakure. Each missing ninja who abandons their country and spits on their village pride has driven a sharp barb into the Kunoichi’s heart. Every time she hears of a missing ninja she is forced to question herself and her ways, to know what she is doing wrong to cause this. It is a painful experience for Kana and these feelings of self-doubt haunt her.

Appearance; "Be to her virtues very kind, Be to her faults a little blind." |
Strangely enough Kana's hair is not a normal shade of brown or blonde. Her long tresses can only be labeled as silver. Her wavy locked extended down nearly reaching her elbows. Her bangs are swept to the side and a pink flower is often tucked behind her ear or in her ponytail when she wears it up. Her eyes also fall under the category of 'strange'. Though they seem to be deep brown at first but upon closer inspection they are revealed to be a deep shade of crimson.
Her clothes vary from occasion to occasion, though most of the time she dresses in the traditional garb for a woman. A black and red kimono covers her thin frame; a red obi is tied around her bodice. Her weapons pouch is secured around her forearm, covered by the kimonos long sleeves. On her right upper arm is her head band. Under the outer kimono she wears a simple pair of black pants, and a red shirt. Around her waist is a belt which holds her larger weaponry, such as her Odachi. On her feet is a pair of traditional wooden sandals, elevating her height to roughly five feet and eight inches. Recently Kana has taken to tying her silver locks up into a bun, using a single senbon to keep it bound and dropping her kimono to wear her pants and tank top.
Since her ascent to Raikage Kana was taken to wearing a few more professional outfits in her day to day tasks. The first of which being a white camisole decorated with black lace and a black tie. Over the shirt is a simple black jacket. A blue skirt with a single pocket adorns her hips and white stockings with black ribbon extend almost up to her skirt. Simple black shoes cover her feet and elevate her in height. Two black necklaces cover her neck, one bearing a cross, and a black cuff is secured on each wrist.
Also worn by the kunoichi for work purposes is a white button front blouse with a small blue ribbon tied about her neck. A matching ribbon ties her hair back and a skirt of similar shade reaches down to her knees. The rest of her legs are covered by black stockings and the same black shoes complete the look. Her addition into a fighting style has added a tatto to her person now. On her left hand near the base of her thumb is the kanji for moon to show her rank and devotion to the fighting style.
Over the years her style and appearance has changed quite a bit. While she still dresses in traditional kimonos and the like she has abandoned the pink flower she wore in her hair when she was younger, having given it to her first friend upon her untimely demise. Today she favors a white shirt edged with black and a black ribbon. A black jacket covers her arms and a blue skirt extends only partly down her thighs. White socks with black ribbons cover past her knees and black shoes cover her feet. She also has discovered something along the lines of accessories. A black choker and a black necklace with a cross circle her neck and two black buckled bands surround her wrists.

History; "Clio, the muse of history, is as thoroughly infected with lies as a street whore with syphilis." |
As far back as Kana can remember it was only her and her father who was a merchant by trade who specialized in tools for his now extinct clan, the Hitori no doku. When she was young she would spend her time in the shop with her father, watching him make the intricate weapons that she would soon grow to love. When she grew bored of watching her father make the fascinating weapons she would turn to her books, having learned to read at a young age. But soon even those could not satisfy the energetic child. By the time she was seven she had fallen into a nice schedule. In the morning she would go with her father to work, helping tidy up and do small tasks with him. After that she would read until it was nearing dusk at which time she would return home to clean the house and cook dinner for them both.

Soon after she had fallen into the schedule she grew bored and petitioned her father to let her join the academy. Kana, already stubborn, won and began her training shortly before she turned eight. It was at this time, after seeing families with their children that she began to wonder about her own mother. After working up all her seven year old courage she asked. The story that would unfold would lead to her becoming a quiet person.
Kana's parents were not in love, they were only friends, as her father explained. But one thing led to another and her mother got pregnant. As soon as Kana was born her mother fled, leaving her in her fathers care with no note and no explanation. Anger and confusion boiled inside the girl. In a way it might have been easier for her to find out her mother had died. But no, she had been abandoned. The weeks following were hard on both Kana and her father. They barely talked and when they did their words were short. After time though they found words to share once more.
Years passed quietly with Kana working through the academy. By the time she was twelve she had graduated and another shock would fall upon the merchant's daughter. She and her father returned home from her graduation, laughing happily as they discussed dinner plans. Kana began to open the door and saw something leaning against the door. She curiously picked it up and saw a scroll with a small note attached to it. She read the note with shaking hands.
"I know I haven't been a very good mother for you Kana and I know I can probably never make that up to you but I want you to have this. These techniques are in your blood, learn them and use them wisely."
The scroll contained the techniques for the Nara clan, something that could be powerful if learned correctly but she did not care. She silently tucked the scroll into a cupboard and ignored it for weeks, until finally she had gotten a grip on herself. With a heart of stone she unfurled the scroll and began to learn her new techniques. Kana tends to shy away from women; whenever she speaks to one she can't help but wonder if it's the woman who is technically her mother.
Sad but not beaten Kana would persevere, training herself until she could train no more, and eventually reaching C rank. Where she goes from here, only fate can say.
Much happened since Kana began her work as a genin. In time she lead a party against a set of demons through a portal in the land of thunder and worked as a negotiator towards the lead being. After the event she was awarded the title of ANBU by the Rokudaime Raikage. Not long after her father and her only friend Banraku Himiko died due to illness. While recovering from these losses she was to become the watcher for a transplant from Kusagakure, Uchiha Mukuro. Many mishaps and fights broke out before the pair discovered a friendship.
Next Kana was to take in a misfit from the Sakurai blood line known as Sosuke. This one has proven to be a fireball with a fast temper but Kana has once more attempted to put her skills to use in winning his friendship. Shortly after the girl was announced as the new Raikage as the elders attempted to murder Inohara Kotomi. Her first act as Raikage was to prevent this crime and dismiss those who took part from her service. Now the kunoichi is attempting to cope with being a leader for so many and living up to the expectations they have for her.
The young Raikage attended the Chuunin exams. An awful process that subjected her to torture and interrogation of innocent victims. The evil nature of the exam did not sit right with the Kage. She plans on investigating the exams thoroughly before consenting to allow Kumogakure to participate once more. The after effects of the exams were not just mental, though she still has nightmares about that night. The girl also limped out with a broken ankle as a result of an accident in Kaminari no Kuni. Annoyed with her poor performance she refused to see a medic, instead choosing to live with her pain.
On the day she turned twenty she ressurected the Cherry Blossom Festival of Kumogakure much to the displeasure of the elders. With that she also brought forth a wave of skeletons hell bent on destroying the entire thing. Her ninja fought bravely and saved the village but Kana hung her head in shame. Her ankle had been broken in the recent Chuunin exams where she recieved the title herself. It had been her idea to have the festival but when things went wrong she was useless, unable to fight for her village and her ninja. A new Chuunin and a disgrace to the title of Raikage, all on her birthday.
With her ankle healed Kana ran into new friends and old. Hyuuga Kurenai, the famed demon of Iwagakure came to Kana and found a home within the village. The acceptance to the village was sealed with frienship and gave Kana a new outlook to her life. Also changing was the visit from Kaeor, her friend from the Chuunin exams. Their friendship balanced on an edge as she began to realize her feelings for the fellow Chuunin. Distance was great however, since the male was from Konoha they stood strong as allies but they could never truly be together.
