Another bright and shining day appeared in Takigakure, the villagers repeating their morning rituals to the tee, seemingly in a rut for the rest of their lives. This is what Shigure had become accustomed to, his eyes always keeping vigilant watch over the village and its inhabitants as he made his own rounds during the day. Though he was a child, and had childish moments within his life, he seemed far older than he appeared, looking at the big picture of his life as a Shinobi at a mature level.
As the boy continued on his normal path, something stood out that wasn't a constant in the village, and this intrigued him. He neared the small group of what appeared to be academy students playing around with what looked like fake Kunai's and senbon. as they played, Shigure noticed the quick speed that one of them possessed, throwing one of the fake Senbon towards another of his class. Even though the senbon was clearly a fake, the one who has hit, began rubbing his shoulder, the place where the toy has attempted to puncture. As though it was destiny, an Idea sparked into Shigure's head, noting that the senbon could be used as a throw-able weapon as the boy had done....
Running off toward his trainers house, he met the old man in the yard, tending to some flowers. "Hey old man! I was wondering... could you teach me how to throw senbon?" The old man laughed at the boy and shook his head. "You know im a ninjutsu trainer... not taijutsu..." The old man stopped speaking once he said the comment, rubbing his forehand. "Though, i have heard of an elite group or who.. trained in Senbon weaponry. They aren't from here though." As the old man collected his thoughts, he spoke once more. "You know... they have a Dojo in the Sound Village... that's the closest one i think, if you want to train, go there."
Making the necessary arrangements, with his sensei's advice and guidance, Shigure made off towards the Sound Village, hoping to train under this said Master of the Senbon techniques. This would be the boy's first journey outside the village since he had left home, but it seemed he didn't care. A wide smile was hooked on his face, all the while traveling outside the village's cavernous gate, through the deep wooded area that is Taki no Kuni. Without stopping, the boy reached Oto no Kuni within a day and a half.
Following the crudely drawn map given to him by his Sensei, Shigure eventually came across the Dojo of the Senbon Artists. This fact was only given by the sign stated outside the building. It Read: "Senbon Taitoku Dojo - Master: Hibiki Kazuko." Shigure noted the name of both the Senbon art, as well as the Master of the Dojo, and went to knock on the door. Almost immediately the door would be answered by a very tall and gaunt looking woman, her eye's seemed to glare at him like prey. Noting this, Shigure took a step back when she surfaced. The woman spoke first. "I am Hibiki Kazuko, whom might you be?" Even though she looked a little scary, her voice showed a motherly twang to it, as if she knew Shigure well, even though they had never met before.
With a small bow, Shigure exclaimed him name. "I am Semitsu, Shigure. Nice too meet you Hibiki-sama." Without pause, Shigure continued, " I came here to learn the art of Senbon Taitoku, if your willing to teach me." His head would stay bowed, though his ninja headband would be draped around his neck, easily seen by the woman, and she took note of it. "Oh my.. you traveled a long way to get here... didn't you?" She showed some compassion to the boy, placing a hand on his shoulder as she spoke. "Well since you traveled so far, i shall give you an easy test..." She motioned for Shigure to enter the rather large building, walking down a very long hallway towards the back of the building. "If you want to train in Senbon Taitoku, then you must master the art of Throwing a senbon... do you have any of your own?" With this Shigure shook his head, and the woman continued. "Well then i have one spare with me, ill lend it too you until you can get some of your own... here." With her sentence ending, a Senbon appeared in the woman's hand, almost instantly, as Shigure hadn't seen where it had come from. The boy took said Senbon and placed it in his right hand.
They finally made it to the back of the building, as Shigure noticed it was completely empty, except a small Ironwood tree sitting in the left end of the room, no bigger than 5 inches wide. "To pass, you need to throw the Senbon at the tree, and make half of the senbon penetrate the tree. Try it." Her voice seemed rather nice, but it seemed she had a small doubt in her voice. Like it wasn't doing to be as easy as she made it out to be. Nevertheless, Shigure took the senbon in his right hand, between his thumb and index finger, coiled his arm back, and lunged the senbon at the tree. Not only did it not penetrate the tree, it feel flat about 2 feet from the tree. Shigure went to look back at the woman, but instead of mocking him, she smiled, nodding her head. "i thought you would mess up.... here, your throwing it wrong..." She replaced the fallen senbon with another of her own, showing Shigure the correct way of holding the needle. between his index and middle finger, near the upper knuckles. "Try once more." This time, as Shigure threw the needle, it actually made it too the tree, but was deflected.
"Good Effort... but you don't have any power behind it..." Hibiki-sama took the young genin's hand, placed the senbon in-between his index and middle finger, and brought his hand back towards the bottom of his wrist. Her movement made Shigure flinch slightly, as he had properly trained his hand to be that flexible, it would take some time. As she let go, Shigure held the position for some time. "Now throw it with some power this time.." She'd state, her motherly tone comming out once more. Shigure flung his wrist whilst throwing the needle towards the tree. His accuracy seemed perfect, but his power still lacked some. the senbon hit the tree with precision, and the needle dung into the tree, but only a centimeter or so, as it dangled loosely from the bark. Iron wood was tougher than most trees in the area, so it took extra strength to penetrate. "Try a few more times... you've almost got it." And Shigure did, throwing the senbon, retrieving it over and over, each time the senbon went further and further. During the last try, the boy threw the senbon once more, and it drove into the tree, more than half of the senbon penetrating the mighty ironwood.
"Well done!" She'd state, seeming way too enthusiastic as she bounced up and down like a proud mother. This somewhat bugged Shigure, as his mother was the same way, and one of the reason why he had left Hi no Kuni. "Do i pass?" It was all Shigure cared about, he didn't need a cheering squad behind him, he needed a master to guide him. The woman went to the tree, noting that the senbon was indeed correct, as well as the precision. "Hmm... i would say so... unless you want to train some more... get a feel for it. But its up to you, dear."
