[bg=black] Koorisuberi (Ice Sliding) Rank: “D” Skill: Kekkei Genkai - Ninjutsu, Supplementary Effect: Allows the user to move around on the ground or water as if they were skating on ice. Cuts travel time by half. Special: “Hand Seals” – Serpent, Dragon, Tiger Drawback: It is easy to track down anyone who uses this technique anywhere besides an ice terrain. Description: By manipulating water molecules and chakra underneath their feet, the user slides across the ground or water as if they were skating on ice allowing them to travel much faster then the average shinobi’s running speed with less strain on their muscles. With each step, the area stepped on is covered with some frost. Limit: Kaishin Bloodlimit. Requires “Water Creation” and “Ice Creation”. (0/10) Kira glanced out of the thick glass window in her private little shack, looking out over the seemingly endless blank expanse of white. The well cared for little home's placement had been planned well, the large window facing the icy field just to the east, allowing light and heat of the morning sun to shine through and provide most of the light she needed throughout the day. She shifted in her seat, a roughly hewn stool cut from one of the trees felled for firewood several years back. Despite it's haggard appearance, it was well crafted, and held stable as she tore her gaze from the blinding scene before her and to her dimly lit home. It took a few moments for her eyes to adjust to the difference in light, one arm clutching the carved wooden windowsill beside her in her disorientation. When the after-image of the winter scene faded, she bent over to pick up one of her mother's scroll chests, this one having been set at her feet, the rest remaining in the larger chest at the foot of what had once been her mother's bed. The top was embossed with the symbol of her clan, her birthright; the recessed design painted in blue and teal lacquer, and sealed with a clear resin that made the wood of the entire box shine. She frowned, before flicking her thumb across the bronze latch, popping the lid open. There, at the top, was the first scroll she intended to teach herself- having long since organised each of the scrolls describing capabilities that, as a kaishin, were hers to learn and master. Koorisuberi. Mutely, she lifted the scroll from the light wooden box, pulling at the top of it to examine the text labeling the jutsu she was to practice. A confirming nod given as she stated in an accent heavily tinted by the foreign language she and her mother had oft spoken to each other in. "Ve vill make better time to ze village vis zis. Ve vill vork on combat, do not vorry." Speaking to the empty shack, she snapped the lid of the chest closed, flicking her thumb along the thin bronze hook and causing it to spin about it's axis, before securely sliding over the protruding metal loop that completed the basic latch. She stood, turning to set the small chest down on the seat she had been using with a dull 'thump'. A lifetime living in the same small building had given her almost a preternatural sense of the building, and even as she spun and walked through the few small rooms of the structure, her pale blue eyes were fixated upon the writing of the scroll. It was simple enough, in theory. She was already well-versed in the creation of water, ice and snow- directing her chakra to the soles of her feet for a similar task shouldn't take much other than a bit of practice. Taking one last look at the three hand-seals required to preform the jutsu, she set the scroll upon an end-table by her front door and ventured outside. "Just three seals. Simple enough." Her silver-painted lips upturned in a slight smirk favoring the right side, faint enough that the line of laughter couldn't even hint upon her face. She took a deep breath, glancing about the open area furtively- situational awareness, in discretion. She stopped ten paces from her home, and brought her hands up mid-chest, keeping her elbows close to her sides as she formed the first of the hand-seal. Serpent, Dragon, Tiger; she closed her eyes as she formed the seals in succession, giving only slight pause between each sequence. Without truly directing the chakra through her body, she dedicated several moments to simply going over the required seals with the name of the technique and it's purpose in mind. After a few minutes, she began to whisper under her breath, the name of the technique she was aiming to learn, "Koorisuberi... Koo-ri-suberi... Koo-ri-suberi" She slowed the movements of the hand-seals down so that Serpent was created in time with the first syllable, and Dragon was made with the second. As she formed the third, she finished speaking the name, committing the movements of the technique to memory. When she had done it enough times that 'Koorisuberi' echoed throughout her mind and she could feel her hands make the seals even though she had stopped, she had decided it time to direct the flow of chakra through her body, and attempt to use the skill. Opening her eyes, she leaned slightly forwards, anticipating the sudden ease of movement to come with use of the jutsu. With blinding speed, she made the motions of the seals and let her chakra gather near the soles of her feet, coating the underside of her boots and pulling at the nearest source of water- the snow beneath her feet. Molecules of water were shorn from the snow, shifting into liquid form before quickly freezing smooth. Kira, anticipating the ice and 'jumping the gun', took a step forwards intending to skate out into the field, only ended up slipping. It was magnificent, in all actuality. One foot pushing backwards against ice and losing purchase, while the other making contact, with the snow in front of her and quickly converting it, too into ice. With a surprised yelp, she managed to both perform the splits, and flip halfway backwards with a surprising grace that left her suspended in midair for just a moment, before she was unceremoniously dumped on her ass, directly on a patch of ice. She hissed in pain, clenching her teeth and wincing. Stiffly, she half-rolled to the side and picked herself up off of the ground, "Perhaps I am going about zis ze vrong vey?" She stood, giving a little limp before moving a small distance from the patches of ice and dusting the fine layer of snow off of her fur coat. She took a big breath, then let it out as a sigh before performing the seals again. This time, as chakra gathered beneath her feet, she bent slightly at the knees, standing in a stable position. The ice formed as before, but this time she retained enough traction to remain standing. Kira opened one pale blue eye, then the other, just now having realized she had screwed them shut, preparing for another spectacular fall and a hind-end filled with pain. Bright white teeth flashed from behind silver lips as she gave a wide smile. Holding her arms out to either side, she slowly took a step forwards... then another... she nearly lost balance on her third step, quickly swinging her arms in short circles to regain her center of gravity. A few more steps, and she had managed to get a sense of stability on her frozen footsteps, "Now, for ze fun part." She bit her lower lip and pushed forwards, as if to skate out upon an iced-over lake. It worked! She laughed as she began to skate across the snow- the task was easier than she had thought after her initial 'bump' in the road; the technique was very much like regular ice skating, so long as one takes care of the contours in the natural terrain. |
