His right hand swept across the surface of the edge while the other one was firmly holding it up. Even though it wasn’t very tiring to hold it up for a long time, he still felt that he was holding it way to far back. So Emi adjusted his grip a little, and moved his left hand and made sure to have it place far away from the other hand. The strain was immediately put away, and he could feel how the muscles got a lot more relaxed as the polearm was a lot more balanced. Emi made a couple of weak swings in the air, and even though his movements were limited by the bed he was laying in he felt the difference in control he was able to use.
It’s so much I can learn with my polearm, I haven’t even mastered how to use it without any fancy moves yet.
He grinned slightly as his chest hurt from one of his unnecessary fast movements, and he had to put the polearm back down. The beating he had taken had still not been healed, and Emi felt how his limbs started to go numb, so he took a couple of deep breaths to calm the pain. But it wouldn’t go away, and the pain started to spread throughout his body. Sweat poured down his forehead and his lips started to bleed as he had bitten in them to take the focus of the chest pain. To avoid ruining his lips too much, he gripped the polearm and squeezed it as hard as he could. It didn’t take long before he could feel how some of the pain disappeared and his body reached a state of calmness.
He tried out a couple of stances that would work without causing him any pain, and when he found out that the basic holding the arms in front of him in 45-90 degree angle was the best one, he shrugged his shoulders and focused on the stance. While making small swirling movements, Emi moved his hands along the polearm and tried to locate the one point that would balance the whole polearm. The point wasn’t something that he would be able to use in combat, since he had to turn around the edge so it faced himself, but it would make him able to learn more advanced fighting techniques. When Emi had found a spot he thought was the spot, he tried to balance the polearm solely on his finger, but had to interrupt quickly as the blade started to come rushing down towards his face. His left hand caught the pole before he was hit by the edge, but he still felt the adrenaline rush through him as he knew how close he had been to get a huge scar over his face. Emi then realized a scream had escaped his lips before he had gotten control over the polearm as the door flew up and the sensei rushed in.
When he noticed what Emi had been doing with the polearm, he picked it up and held it one hand.
You shouldn’t be moving too much, but here, learn to do this while you’re still rehabilitating.
With only one finger, he held the polearm over his head and started to spin it. At first, it was spinning rather slowly, but after a short while it was moving almost as fast as Emi’s spinning shield. Without allowing it to slow down, he lobbed it to Emi before walking out from the room with authority of a master. Emi caught the polearm with ease, and when the door had been shut closed, he sat up in the bed and weighted the polearm. He knew that he couldn’t expect himself to spin it nearly as fast as the teacher had been, but he tried to use his palm first to spin it around.
Even if it was only a brief thought, Emi hesitated long enough for him to lose a little of the focus he required to keep it up. The balance point shifted slightly and the polearm started to leave the hand until he dropped it. Emi was however a little better prepared, and rolled forwards in the bed and successfully avoided the blade. When it penetrated the mattress a small tug was heard. When he finished the tumble, he pulled himself up on his feet and quickly drew the polearm out from the mattress. Stubborn as he was, Emi made a swinging motion with the polearm and carefully started to spin it around over his head again. He knew that he was currently having the palm on the same spot that he had it before, making him realize the balance spot was not there, so every turn the polearm made, Emi moved his palm slightly closer to the balance spot.

I guess I’ll need to hold on to the polearm.

Don’t shout in here, I thought something had happened.

I hope it won’t fall down again.
