The conception of something quite true

I have been a Digital Artist for nearly three years. And have some understanding in the appearance and how it works on certain females. Like how they are often judged by their appearance, that when they are unhappy with their traits, they often become unhappy with other things as well. They withdraw, get discouraged and lose confidence. And before long they find themselves shutting down around people they care about. They stop feeling good about the person they see in the mirror every morning. So with my art I have decided to show the truth behind every ink and pencil line. And so the general concept of my creation is about sexual abuse victims and their perception of the World and their self image.
The skirt
As a child, little girls dream that they are princesses in their own pink, Barbie-doll, ballerina like worlds.
The fluffy/tutu/ballet skirt would be a dressing element of how she still is trying to be, along with the little hat. They are "decorative" items.
The Body
However, her self image becomes deteriorated, she starts hating her own body, blaming herself for what happened. That is why the female body is represented as skinny, ill, distorted as she sees herself.
The Wings
Her childhood dreams are broken, and the promises of angels and prince charmings fade away and everything that is left is the glance of something they used to believe in, but is now turning into darkness, pain and agony. She doesn't know who to trust, and even though she was told "it was their little secret" she knows something is wrong with it. This is seen on the feathery wings, with sharp claws coming out of them.
The Mask
She wears a mask blinded by the lies she is told. This "little" secret grows inside her and turns into agony every day. The mask she wears is the symbol of this.
The mask is also something she wears to imitate the bird. She wants to be beautiful and free, just like it.
But what the mask is really doing is hiding her face from the world. I done this version to show that its not best to hide behind a mask but instead talk to someone and get help. And now I understand how hard it is to talk about something so secret. Its hard and painful. But ain’t it better than hiding and allowing the bastard to get away with it? Hopefully my approach of this piece will help others who feel the way my creation does.
