..Enter..
A grey Autumn afternoon. Glancing up at the sky, the sun looked to be dancing at least a little over half way, which indicated that it was probably around one or two o’clock. Asami had went straight to the café in question only to enter when the place was reasonably quiet. Wearing her pale pink and purple yakuta and wooden geta, the client rushed toward her upon noticing the Kumogakure headband sitting upon her forehead. “Hello and welcome to our café!” He bellowed, smiling a smile best fit for a king.
He was a rather thin looking man with receding brown hair, large blue eyes and a somewhat pale complexion. His attire was something of a traditional male Kimono, navy and white in color, with geta at least two inches high. His lips were thinly chapped and with cheeks as bony as an emaciated animal. “Hello, Mr..” Asami trailed off in her greeting, hoping that he would fill in the blanks. But when he didn't, she carried on. “My name is Asami Naga, and I am here to fill in as your waitress for the next few days.” She said evenly, clasping both her hands together, anxious to get this moving.
The client gave her a somewhat practiced smile and began to guide her through the café with light feet. “As you can see, the theme is traditional Japanese kimono day, which you appear to have mastered already. In fact, you look lovely!” He prattled, picking up a tray, an ordering pad and a pencil. “Now, do you have any kind of experience with waiting?” He then asked, handing the objects over. Asami accepted the objects and tucked the rounded black tray beneath her arm and tucked the pad and pencil into the strap of her yakuta.
“No sir, I don't.” Asami replied, her black eyes flickering toward the floor briefly. When the client chuckled, he moved her over toward a chair and sat down opposite her. “Well first, when you see a customer entering the building, you are to approach them in a friendly manner, a smile is compulsory. You kindly ask them if they have a booking and if they do, you escort them to the table written down in the log book sitting on the counter by the till.” The client began explaining, leaning back in his chair as he did so.
“Once you have seated them at the table, you ask for their order and report them back to me so I can tell the chefs to begin cooking their meals. While there are no customers to serve, you are to clean the café and make sure that it is presentable. When you see empty, or discarded plates sitting on the table, you are to pick them up from the left hand side of the customer, as you serve them on the right hand side.” Asami blindly stared at the man as he continued, fiddling with a piece of his kimono as he sat there.
It sounded like a lot of work for a simple waitress, but Asami felt fairly confident that she was capable of performing the tasks required of her. With a wary look, she glanced around the staff room before the client stopped speaking. “Now, do you have any questions?” He then asked, standing now. Asami shook her head and followed suit. “No, I have everything listed down in my head, sir.” She replied gently and was then dismissed without further ado.
