Overall, Kohaku is, simply put, a bitch. A ball of general anger, hate, foul language and colourful insults make for an interesting girl. Better put, she's a stereotypical 'tsundere,' which is roughly "character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing his or her warm side over time. (-Wikipedia)" Her warm side, ultimately her 'core,' isn't a hard thing to reach, however. Contrary to popular belief, Kohaku can be nice and even caring at times, often joking and saying playful albeit hurtful things. She tries, honestly, to get along with others. But thanks to a superiority complex; she has a hard time making friends.
Conflict courses thick through her veins, more times than most will Kohaku be caught between a love for herself and a hate for herself. She believes herself to be better than everyone around her, as if they should grovel at her feet; yet she loathes herself. Complexity like this gives her constant headaches if she tries to dwell on it, thus leaving the topic sensitive to the touch. Relationships and general friendship are that much harder if an intimacy with her wasn't secured prior to her troubling endeavors. She's often thinking of death; preoccupied by the thought of death. Death; death; death. It frightens her. She cares not to delve any deeper on the subject.
Following up on such, sexual tendencies that leave the girl unoccupied can be annoying for a potential love interest. Thanks to a poorly ended relationship from her past, Kohaku has the habit of shying away from flirtatious ventures and ever-so-caring men and women who would possibly like the idea of ending up 'in her pants.' When faced by an uncomfortable scenario, Kohaku becomes uncharacteristically nervous, her face flushing and hands fumbling. Likewise, feeling vulnerable like such simply pisses her off, causing for a heated scenario; one that's hot in a not-so-vividly-arousing-way. The thought of virtue is a path of trepidation for her, making everything feel a bit more...disgusting. No matter how she goes about it, she's given into the loving embrace of knowledge that is essentially 'she can't win when it comes to relationships, platonic or romantic, physical or emotional.' Regrettably, Kohaku can be a tad naive and, shall I say, innocent? Pick-up lines go over her head and being close to a human being in any way, no matter the person, is bothersome in more ways than one. The mention of romance makes her dizzy and being seen without even her jacket makes her feel uncomfortably. However, this feeling is induced while surrounded by men; perhaps influenced by a possible fear of the male anatomy and mentality, all together, men. Women, on the other hand, make her feel comfortably; the thought of being seen naked by a woman is humiliating in the most flattering of ways for Kohaku.
Basically; she's confused as hell. Also, really fucking gay. But that's cool.
Although it is very tempting to continue speaking of a girl in such an indecent way, we have to move to the next topic; stability.
Fighting past the steely surface, Kohaku is still arrogant. Cocky, haughty, imperious, smug or vain are all words that can easily make up for her lack of a middle name. Complexity begins to shine through the cracks at this point, advancing to explain her inferior stature. Although she acts tough (which she generally is), Kohaku has a distinct taste when it comes to herself. She avoids looking in mirrors for fear of seeing herself; often despising what she sees. It's hell being a girl because of this; she has to maintain certain aspects, such as how her hair falls or makeup (if there ever comes a time when more than just eyeliner is applied). Her blue eyes piss her off; wanting green to go with her ginger hair. She picks apart her appearance, ignoring the few things she does like to drink in. But it's not just a hate for her appearance; if it were as simple as that, she could probably change her view of herself with a few tweaks of her form. Deeper, however, she carries a passionate hate for herself. But, somehow, she's still better than everyone, in her eyes. It's hard to manage, thus sometimes pushing her into anxiety attacks.
Meeting new people is an overall fright fest, but to cover up her debilitating phobia of essential socializing, Kohaku acts up in a superior way. Because of this, she makes a great leader, no matter how much she insists otherwise.
Depression is not giving a literal fuck for anything; anxiety is giving so many literal fucks that it drains you spiritually. Having both, at the same time, frequently in the arms of both, is exhausting. On one hand, she wants to try, she wants very desperately to be an avid member of her community; she wants to surpass and she doesn't want to fail. So much so that it drives her to attacks of anxiety and horrible gross sobbing. But, on the other hand, she doesn't care. She wants to care; but she can't, no matter how hard she tries. Ultimately trapped in a blender of what-the-fuck, Kohaku can come off as a little...potent. If it weren't for her fear of death, Kohaku would have given in to the beckoning calls of oblivion. It's a very heavy subject, so let's roll forth to a lighter trait.
Kohaku is protective of all things she possesses; whether it be a notebook or a friend. Although a friend isn't a object of possession, Kohaku takes any sort of relationship very seriously, thanks to her lack of friendship in the first place. When obtained, a new friend will be showered in love. Subtle love, but love, regardless. Sometimes she disguises her love as insults, so it's hard to determine whether or not you're on her friend roster. She couldn't give less shits about people who make fun of her, often just shrugging them off without much more than a 'fuck you' back. However, an insult directed at a friend would result in tripping her anger; her motherly side shining forth as she attempts to verbally beat the living shit out of the offender. She's painfully aware of her physical downside; being weak, so she tends to stray away from physical fights. Making people feel lower than dirt is much more fun for her. It gives her a sense of confidence that was only artificial before, even if for a brief chronological period.
Kohaku is very passionate about everyone she meets; often developing a hint of a crush on every new person she becomes emotionally aware of; even a man in some cases, if one were able to make her feel a hint of friendship. As a child, Kohaku feared being unable to feel emotions such as love and hate, so when she does experience even the slightest tinge of intimacy, even platonic intimacy, emotional involvement of any kind, her stomach is flooded with fluttering butterflies that can strike a sense of false romantic want. However, given the opportunity to act on romantic or even sexual "desires," Kohaku would inadvertently end up dodging the utmost, as she thought, inevitable, especially if faced by the man of her 'choosing.'
FORM
Red is the preferred colour.
Starting with her head down to her feet, let's talk about Kohaku's appearance.
Framing a heart-shaped albeit pointy face are ginger locks held in partial twin tails. Her layered hair falls a few inches past her shoulders at its longest length. Soft to the touch, her hair appears kept and often times cared for. Honestly, her hair is the only part of her that Kohaku will actually admit to liking. Kohaku can be seen without her hair clips in her own home before she's primped, and if the need to spend the night outdoors takes place, she will take out the clips and let her hair fall naturally. Her bangs, or fringe, sweeps across her forehead. More often than not, the left hair will be obscured by her bangs, but in actuality, it's not to appear 'edgy' but is more or less just an attempt at hiding her *eye-patch.
Her features are soft if not pointy. Her skin is slightly tanned but perhaps still on the pale side of ethnicity. Thick eyelashes surround her white eyeballs, her eyes as blue as a blue thing (trying to be cool and not say as blue as an ocean). Her lips are somewhat thin for a girl, but she makes up for it in a loud-mouthy way. Her nose is shorter than average and her eyebrows are a bit thicker than her lips.
*Kohaku wears an eye patch over her left eye. It is black in colour and thin, so it doesn't make her sweat unless she's doing something strenuous.
Aside from facial, Kohaku's body structure is petite for someone of her height (which isn't even very impressive in itself), the only really pronounced thing being her tummy that proves to be squishy and warm, hence she regularly pats her belly. Nothing ego-hurting, however, considering that's already beaten to nothingness; however, she does actually like the bit of chub. (Chub not seen in picture because I didn't draw the picture otherwise there would be chubbb.)
Kohaku's shoulders are slim and her arms are long, most of her height coming from her legs/torso. Her chest is below an average size, but she doesn't pay it any mind. Her hips are slimmer than she would hope, but she constantly tells herself she'll grow into a big booty; something she would very much love. Her lack of rear is a *factor of her depression.
*No it's not.
In an attempt to be funny, I've lost my train of thought. So have a picture or two;
Atop her head sits a black hat with nekomimi ears (false, obviously) that shows her ninjahood, the metalic part facing proudly outwards. Below the metal slab of recognition are two buttons that she has acquired over time, they hold no real significance other than the red one was one at a carnival a few years ago by someone she didn't know; she ended up stealing it due to her liking and interest in its design. (Kohaku has been known to steal things due to a minor case of possible kleptomania but she prefers to leave it un-brought up.) Why she didn't just keep a normal headband is beyond any sane person.
A plain red t-shirt that is just a single size too big under a dark red (accented white) turtle-neck zippy sweatshirt and black skinny-fit jeans or shorts seem to be her all-time outfit. However, if she is aware of a battle that will take place or if she is called in to duty, she will wear a red body suit. It feels like spandex and is easy to move in, making for no loose trims that can be caught by an advisory. The combat suit is a bitch to put on, so she will go without putting it on liberally.

Before she was born, there was a family of two; a mother and a daughter. The daughter was cool as fuck. The dad, however, was a little bitch and got the fuck out of there. Long story short, the mother found a man who was 50 Shades of Awesome and they conceived this bitchin' baby. But, angered, the father of the other daughter, Kaoru Takeuchi, didn't want none of that shit and he killed the guy, and took the baby; Kohaku.
It was purely an act of anger, Tato later reminisced. But he's always angry, it seemed.
They lived in a shitty place fairly close to the outskirts of the Waterfall village. Kohaku's father was abusive, and if not drunk, he was never home. Kohaku found herself living alone for weeks on end, only to have her father come home briefly to play head games with the girl.
He raised her, however, telling her that he was her biological father, further granting him the name 'dad' instead of 'Tato.' When Kohaku would ask about her mother, Tato would claim that she left before she was born; but that never kicked Kohaku as plausible, considering she would be with her mother if she went by that logic. She often dreamed of what her mother would be like, what her fabled sister would be like. Tato often told Kohaku that she had a sister named Kaoru, but he never went any further than that without getting ultimately pissed off, taking his anger back out on the girl.
At around 11, Kohaku had grown mature thanks to all the hardship. With what little confidence she could manage after an event that cost her her left eye, she told her father to fuck off, stating she could live by herself, since it's what she had basically done her whole life already, excluding her toddler years. He tried to convince her to come back as she ran down the driveway, but honestly, couldn't bring himself to care.
MORE SHIT
After traveling into the Waterfall village, Kohaku found herself in the home of a man by the name of Shinji Hyuga who eventually took her in as an adopted child.
Shinji was a master of Taijutsu and owned his own dojo; he had a wife and a daughter named Tessa Hyuga. She was only a few months younger than Kohaku, but acted a thousand times older. She was humble and sweet and outgoing; everything Kohaku was not. Immediately, she fell in love with the girl, opening Kohaku up to a new world of homosexuality.
Now a 12 year old and with an actual, loving family, Kohaku was generally flowering into happiness. For a brief year, she knew what happiness tasted like; and it was so, so sweet. She even met a girl in Shinji's class, Mei Yukiko, who shared her homosexual feelings. They developed a relationship at around 13, all the while, however, Kohaku still felt underlying love for Tessa.
Tessa fell ill. Those words aren't the best to read, but it could have been stated worse. Kohaku and Mei tried to insist that Tessa was in no shape to be training under her father, Shinji, but Tessa disagreed religiously. She was the daughter of the man who ran a dojo and planned to keep it that way. Eventually, however, it came to the point where she was to be hospitalized.
Lonely in the hospital, Kohaku and Mei (alongside Shinji and her mother) visited her liberally. Aside from this, Kohaku was living rather normally. She spent a few nights with her girlfriend if not with her adopted sister in the hospital, never feeling truly alone anymore. It was a nice change; to be surrounded by people who cared for her.
At the of 15, however, when everything was looking up for the sickly Tessa, she was placed on her death bed. Kohaku wanted desperately to tell her how she actually felt about her, but never managed to as Tessa died with Kohaku and Mei at her side. Tears ensued; gross sobbing and desperate clutching, all the while Kohaku felt heartbreak for the first time. She hated it. The duo left bitterly after the Shinji showed up a few minutes too late, too heartbroken to really bare the sight of a sobbing father and mother.
At Mei's home, Kohaku would feel heartbreak for the second time in one day. Painfully, she described her feelings to Mei. To her surprise; Mei was calm at first.
However, she began flipping her shit; she threw and broke things in her room, yet never hurt Kohaku. Though, Mei wasn't angry about the slight betrayal she felt in her heart, but angry at the twinge of pain in her stomach. She screamed at Kohaku not for loving someone else but for never telling Tessa how she really felt. To her dismay, Mei relayed that Tessa had admitted that Kohaku's feelings weren't unrequited.
Needless to say; Kohaku and Mei broke up, but remain close friends.
After the turmoil, Kohaku needed an escape from her newfound depression; anxiety had always been there, but this struck something else. To distract herself from restless nights and nightmares of Tessa, Kohaku had herself enrolled in the ninja academy. She decided it would be best for her if she became a bitching ninja and found her supposed sister, Kaoru.

Upright Stance Rank: "E" Skill: TaiJutsu Effect: A Basic upright stance used in boxing. Special: --- Drawback: --- Description: Picture To adopt an Upright Stance, you should stand with your legs roughly shoulder-width apart. Your back foot should be about half a step behind your front foot. If your dominant boxing hand is your right hand, your left foot will lead. Lift your right heel off the ground by about 3 inches and point both feet inward (although do not exaggerate this movement). If you lift your heel too far off the ground, or turn your feet too far inward, you will become unbalanced. As a test, imagine someone pushing you from any direction. In a properly balanced stance, you should be able to maintain an upright position and not fall to the ground or sway from side to side. To increase the stability of your stance, keep your knees and hips slightly bent but make sure your back is straight. Your lead fist (which will be your left fist if your dominant boxing hand is your right hand) should be positioned vertically at eye level, approximately six inches away from your face. Your right fist should be positioned next to your chin, with your elbow held against your ribcage. This is good defensive positioning and will effectively protect your body. Whilst watching televised boxing matches, you may have noticed the boxers tapping their cheeks with their hands. This repetitive action acts as a reminder to keep fists up at all times and is especially important as the match progresses and energy levels drop. To further protect yourself from blows from your opponent, keep your chin pressed against your chest. Punches to the jaw often cause knock-outs, so it is essential to keep this stance throughout the boxing match. Limit: Must learn in a gym that teaches Bokushingu (Boxing)
D RANK The Jab Rank: "D" Skill: TaiJutsu Effect: A quick, straight punch thrown with the lead hand from the guard position. Special: --- Drawback: --- Description: Picture Stand with your feet hip distance apart. Step your right foot back 18-24 inches with the weight of your right leg on the ball of your foot (right heel is somewhat elevated and the knees are slightly bent). Bring your right fist close to your right cheek bone and your left fist slightly in front of it about jaw height. Pull your elbows in towards your ribs so that they line up somewhat below your fists. Push off of the ball of the right foot, bend the left knee slightly and start to extend the left hand in a pushing type motion (there should be a subtle rotation as your left hand goes forward your right shoulder moves back). You may also rotate the fist so that when it reaches the desired destination your left palm will be facing down. Retract the left hand as fast as you extended it and return to the original position. Remember before punching relax the hand, snap it forward and clinch before making contact. Do your best to strike with the first two knuckles and keep your wrist in neutral position upon impact. Aim six to eight inches beyond your target. Extend the arm only about 90-95 percent. Keep your chin tucked down toward your chest--this protects your jaw from exposure to being hit. Bring your hand back as fast as you throw it. Move your head on an angle as you throw the punch. Limit: Must learn in a gym that teaches Bokushingu (Boxing), Must know Upright Stance or Semi-Crouch
