Character Depth
Personality:
If anything, Omoni is confident he will succeed in becoming a top notch ninja. In fact, he might even be considered a little bit overconfident at times, overestimating his capabilities and underestimating the task at hand. An intelligent little fellow, he has a history of being one of the smarter kids in the orphanage and excelling in whichever task was given to him. He tends to forget however that being a shinobi is not even remotely the same as running errands for the orphanage. This is a difference he will have to learn the hard way.
Another word that suits Omoni is materialistic, which is probably as much a result of him having grown up in poverty and anonymity as his desire to be seen is. He likes money, expensive stuff, and is quite the scrooge when it comes down to financials. In most field, Omoni makes a good and reliable friend and collegue. When it comes down to paying however, he'll be the last to draw his wallet.
Regardless of his appearance, which isn't THAT appealing, Omoni loves to be seen. He is somewhat loud and flamboyant, and has a tendacy to show off, especially in front of pretty girls. He makes sure his presence is noted. According to most however, he does so in a positive kind of way. Omoni is a friendly guy, just beaming with positive energy and he's quick with a compliment. Though he doesn't make friends extraordinarily fast, he is generally well-liked for his attitude.
Surprisingly, Omoni does have somewhat of a short fuse and little patience. Despite being a clever guy, he has more of a hand-on approach and ever so often jumps into the fray without thinking ahead. Long meetings and briefings bore him greatly, as he is convinced that people are better off acting and learning/planning as they go. When he feels people are being unfair or outright mean, he is quick to speak up or even lash out.
Appearance:
For someone who specialises in taijutsu, Omoni looks everything but agile and intimidating. In fact, he might be considered a tad chubby and slow looking. Slow in both the physical as well as the mental way. His head is often described as perfectly round and puffy, and of a surprisingly light complexion for someone living in the Earth Country. This, obviously, is because his family hails from the Water Country. His formidable cheeks usually have a healthy blush that contrasts quite heavily with his pale skin. This blush is a real eyecatcher and usually what people mention when describing the genin.
His hair, like a lot of Kaguya, is very blonde, almost white-ish, and falls over his head in a somewhat nerdy looking bowl cut. It seems to have no style or coupe whatsoever and is so straight it can almost be considered reflecting. Omonis eyes are deep green and are squeezed to narrow slits by his large cheeks when he's smiling. Mainly due to this trait, Omonis grin is often described as a "cheeky" one. Compared to the rest of his head, Omonis mouth is really of a quite normal side, if not a little bit wider.
Omoni is best described as large, being both tall and beefy. His hands in particular are extra large and teasingly described as "shovels" by his fellow orphans. Though he is not fat, Omoni has a bit of a tummy and likes to show it off, against everyone elses wishes. His usual garments involve a bare chest, and he can be caught taking off his shirt while training and fighting a lot more than would be necessary. He considers himself a big, muscular guy and thinks he is an impressive sight to see. Still, he is soft and squishy more than anything.
Around his chest, Omoni wears a large, silk, light brown shirt with long sleeves and the kanji for "earth" printed in black on the back. The ends of the sleeves are decorated with a simple, black, sharp pattern. One end of the shirts front is lined with small staves of ivory, while the other end has small holes the staves can be put in to to close the shirt. Nonetheless, as was mentioned before, Omoni prefers to keep the shirt open and put his chest on display. His hands, in addition, are sometimes wrapped in bandages when training to prevent blisters or other injuries.
As both a shield and a weapon, Omoni carries around a simple, slightly curved buckler with a wooden body and a metal ring around the edge. It is usually strapped to his back with a large, white silk band strung through the bucklers handle and strapped diagonally over Omoni's chest. Despite being his primary tool, it is quite some troublesome work to get the thing on and off his back and it takes him a few seconds to get it done.
Underneath all this, Omoni wears a sturdy pair of brown trousers. Plain, stoic, with no decorations whatsoever. Strapped to the right thigh however is a beige pouch in which shinobi tools are stored. Being a right-handed person, this allows him to easily reach for his weapons in the heat of batttle. Around his feet, Omoni wears basic, wooden sandals with red leather strips wrapped around his toes, keeping the sandals in place. This hard footwear is said to have quite the kick to it.
Background:
The rice farming business proved to be quite a difficult to get into when you're inexperienced and of age, however, and the two shinobi's endeavour failed miserably as harvest after harvest went wrong. Their past haunted them however, reminding the two of how ruthless combat was the one thing they were naturally gifted at. Rather than turning back to savage combat however, Mara and Ahiko placed their hopes on bounty hunting, which earned them a meagre existence, but an existence free of pointless killing nonetheless. It was during these days that Mara got pregnant of a son. A boy unexpected, but not unwanted. Still, a boy they couldn't afford.
As a final desperate act, Mara and Ahiko left their son at an orphanage just over the border, in the Stone country, with the hopes of one day coming back to retrieve him. It was here that a grumpy, old orphanage caretaker bestowed the name "Omoni" on the boy. "Heavy burden", after both his untimely birth as well as his formidable babyweight. It was not long until disaster struck however and Omoni's mother was killing in action during an attempt to arrest a powerful missing ninja from the Leaf. His father, stricken by the death of his wife, ended up depressed, begging along the roads of the Rice Country, unable to bring himself to charge into combat ever again. Noone would ever come for Omoni after this point. He was destined to live his life on his own.
During his years at the orphanage, Omoni was pretty much taught to fend for himself, as there were few supplies and little individual attention for the children. They were all constantly reminded of how noone was ever going to adopt them, and how they were unlikely to ever grow up to be someone of importance. For some reason, this invoked the opposite reaction in the boy and sparked a burning desire to prove the orphanages caretaker wrong. From the day he could speak, Omoni's life revolved around distinguishing himself and hoarding whatever he could get his hands on. Be it something simple as weeding or mopping the floors, Omoni was determined to do an exceptional job at what he did.
It wasn't untill a dark day when the orphanage suffered bandit raids that Omoni found a clear goal to set himself. A squad of shinobi arrived to rif the region of the criminals, and the youngster was smitten by the skill with which the shinobi did their job. In addition, he marvelled over the respect they earned and the big bag of cash they inned. It seemed obvious to him that a good shinobi enbodied everything he longed for so badly, thus he decided he was going to become one. Only 12 years old at the time, he scraped togather whatever money and posession he had and made his way towards Iwagakure where he settled in a cheap, somewhat scroungy looking hostel. After that, he attended to the academy, making sure he'd learn the ropes of being a ninja as soon as possible.
15 years old now, Omoni is probably one of the older genin around. He did finish his academy in three years, which is an impressive feat on its own, but then he was significantly older and more developed than everyone else in his class. Because of his size and aptitude for taijutsu, he was dubbed "The bull of Iwagakure" by his peers, known for being capable of bowling over anyone in the schoolyard. He is eager to test his powers in the world outside the academy however, which without a doubt will be a complete different sensation. There is much to discover for the young genin, including a kekkai genkai hidden within his very own body.
