Standing at five feet, eight and a half inches, he’s not the tallest guy around, but definitely not the shortest either. His body is kept in good condition, toned muscles and in shape so he can keep up with his chosen profession. Although he doesn't train his body any more than necessary, as he doesn't care much for taijustu, doesn't have much talent for it either. May seem a bit lanky for a ninja, but it's not much of a hindrance for him since he relies more on his mind than his body. His skin is darker, having a natural tan due to his heritage and the time he spends outside. There are many insignificant scars that litter his body, as it would be nearly impossible to go through life without getting a single scar.
Cares more about appearance than comfort, which shows quite clearly in his wardrobe. Never would he be caught wearing something dirty, at least he wouldn’t want to be. Of course there are times when dirt gets on him and he hasn’t a change of clothes, unfortunately. Prefers to wear black slacks, white button down shirts, black overcoat, white gloves, black shoes, and a black top hat, a bit on the dressy side even when there’s no reason for it. Although his clothing is a bit loose for easier movement, it's still based more on appearance. Besides, it's less likely for an enemy to take him seriously when he's wearing a suit.
Underneath that fancy top hat, there's a head of brown hair, a bit on the longer side, some strands reaching down to his neck. He always takes good care of it, making sure it looks neat whenever he goes anywhere, it's usually soft too. His face is handsome enough, always shaven and clean. Bright, golden eyes stand out quite a bit, the odd color thanks to his mother's side of the family, and birthmark in the shape of a small dot is just under his left eye. The flowers that he gained from the Sousekichi ritual all grow around his neck, and there are usually four, which he takes incredibly good care of. There's a tattoo on the inside of his right wrist, the kanji for butterfly written in black ink. He keeps his secondary weapon pouch tied around his right leg, using it even if it is hideous. Black in color, of course. Also has a long pocket in on his left pant leg to hold his flute.

Naoki is the type of guy that likes to be left alone, not to be bothered. It's a lot easier that way, since he always tries to act like everything’s okay, which is really easy when there’s no one around to trick. He keeps to him self most the time, more like all the time. His problems are his problems, he doesn't see the need to let other people know of them, it's not like he needs help or anything. At the very least, that's how he views it, most would think having others to fall back on would be a good thing, but he thinks it'd be a sign of weakness. So instead of relying on others, he keeps everything bottled up, which caused his short fuse. However, he tries to keep calm, a losing battle most the time.
Perfect; that is what he tries to be. He tries not to do anything that'd be considered "bad" or try to upset anyone, which is incredibly difficult and he slips up constantly. Being perfect isn't possible, but that doesn't mean he can't try. It's the reason he hides all his problems and refuses help, he doesn't think the perfect person would have any problems or need assistance. So he never lets anything show, shouldering everything by himself since he doesn't want to bother others and doesn't want people to think he's weak. It's a problem in itself really, not that he'll admit it. Naoki would rather not admit anything that's wrong with him, he wants people to think he has no flaws. Truth be told, he doesn't want to admit to himself that he has problems either, he's in denial even though he knows what's wrong with him. Maybe if he ignores the flaws long enough, they'll go away?
One of the many things he keeps to himself is that likes other guys, hidden in the closet with the doors barred shut. He considers it to be a negative thing since most don't think being attracted to the same gender is "normal" and he cares too much about what others think about him. Oh, that's another of his problems, he cares far too much. As a result, he has an overactive conscious and easily feels guilty about things that weren't even his fault. He will do things that he normally wouldn't to make the feeling go away, it has more of an influence on him than something like peer pressure ever could. One of the main things he does to keep from doing anything that'd make him feel guilty or "bad" is keeping quiet, he avoids talking to people when he can. Also does things that keep his mind off all the negative aspects, such as training, going on a mission, or doing anything else that's impersonal.
The teen has a sense of righteousness as well, he usually thinks that he's right and everyone that disagrees with him is straight up wrong. And he's stubborn enough to stick by his claims and deny all logic too. It's also the reason he holds rules and law in such high regard, he would probably be the last one caught doing anything illegal. Is annoyed by anyone that breaks rules or laws, even if they have a good cause. He would likely turn them in as well, unless there was an incredibly good reason for him not to. Can easily be considered a "mama's boy", as his mother is the person who influences him the most. She's the reason he tries so hard to be perfect, he doesn't want to disappoint her. She's the reason he lies, he wants to protect her. She's the reason he's not quite as physically oriented as most male Kitateha members, he wants to follow in her footsteps.

A small desert town was the birthplace of Naoki, within Kaze no Kuni. About a year before that event, his mother, Akira Ito, was wandering around the world, expanding her knowledge when she stopped to visit that very same town. She was a member of the Kitateha clan, strong even though she never decided to follow the path of the ninja. The woman ended up falling in love with a man, Eiji Sato, and they married only a couple months later. The happy couple married and decided they would move to live with Akira's family, as she didn't like the hot climate, especially since her butterflies had trouble surviving. However, she became pregnant before they started traveling, so they stayed in that town until after the baby was born. Risking anything happening to the baby while they were traveling certainly wasn't something they wanted to happen.
Since Eiji's family had been living in the desert for generations, he had a darker skin, which was a stark contrast to his wife's pale skin. As a result, Naoki was a sort of mix between the two, not as dark as his father and not as light as his mother. For five years they stayed in that desert town, waiting a bit so their son wouldn't quite as vulnerable. The time spent there was simple, there wasn't much in the town, though they kept themselves entertained well enough. Soon after his fifth birthday they packed up and traveled East, making their way towards the place Akira's family lived, Mizu no Kuni. It took them longer than they had thought, as it was during their days on the road that she started showing signs of illness.
Akira was showing symptoms such as fatigue and felt pain in her joints, as they sometimes went stiff. They were the same as what her own mother had felt, which caused her to believe that this illness would kill her, a sobering thought for a woman of thirty-seven. The realization caused her to start spending even more time with her boy, and the bond between the two grew immensely. When they finally reached Mizu no Kuni, they settled in Kirigakure, as Akira's family were ninja for the village. Not to mention she believed it would be safer, living in a hidden village. Unfortunately, the term 'bloody mist' wasn't used simply because it sounded neat.
Regardless of the dangers, Naoki decided to attend the academy, he wanted to grow stronger and protect his parents, who were growing old. He wasn't the best, but far from being the worst, managed to graduate and gain the title of 'genin' at the age of sixteen. It was then that Akira's and her relatives, the Kitateha, decided to allow him to undergo the clan's ritual. Painful, but he didn't complain in the least, not wanting any of them to think of him as weak. He also got the clan's tattoo at that time, and wore it proudly from there on out. After that he started training the art of genjutsu and the clan techniques, wanting to be as powerful as his mother.
When his idol, his mother, died he took it incredibly hard- falling into a state of depression so easily without her guidance. He lost focus of his duties and life in general, a slump that haunts him still.
