After a few attempts with the screws, he found that it wasn't really any problem with either one of the types as both worked. Emi just had to use a little more force while using the fatter one, but since they had deeper tracks the screwdriver didn't hurt them more. When the weapon had been attached he tried the strength of it by shaking it a little, but it was nothing to worry about. It did however worry him that the entire weapons weight was far heavier than he would've wanted if he created something similar himself. So he turned around and asked the new guy if he was able to try out the weapon, to see if it really could handle it. The man nodded and smiled as he returned the chip into the robot before starting it up again.

Emi could see that the robot had problems using his balance all from the start, but it was obvious when it tried out its arm and then later shot. The movements were so clumsy and incorrect, that it was not even close to hit the target with the weapon even after taking almost five seconds to aim. Emi sighed and looked at the coder but was only answered with some shrugs. There were no idea to remove the weapon from the robot as it clearly was intended from some extraction work. So he instead tried to come up with a solution that would fit it better, maybe to just boost up its hydraulic system? But as he was about to start working with the system, he stopped himself and turned to the coder.

Can't we just code it to expect the weight and use both hands while firing?

The man appeared to be thinking for a few seconds before he nodded and retrieved the chip from the robot and put it back into the computer. It didn't take him long before he had finished the new coding and they were able to try it out. Except for the balancing system still being a little off, the shooting function had been improved significantly while using both of the arms to shoot. But despite that he knew that it wouldn't be enough to make a useful robot, so he cranked up the hydraulic systems in the arms and legs as well. It made the entire thing look a lot more bulky and he had to sacrifice some of the mobility, but he suspected that it would still be a lot better. Along with the added strength, he also was able to apply some extra dead weight to the robot as a general stability.

Since he no longer would be able to use the second arm for other means of weapons, Emi had to see which remaining piece were supposed to go there. Unfortunately it was two pieces that he had to remove, which were supposed to be on either side of the forearm. Even though he wouldn't be able to use it anymore, he was still curious on what it was. So he brought them back to the workbench to open them up. The first one was quite easy to figure out as he just had to open a lid to reveal a monitor with buttons covering the sides. It wasn't any model that he had seen before, so he had to open it up and study it a little further.

The components were fairly common for other monitors he had seen, a little rusty and worn down, which told him that the monitor most likely had been brought from a previous build. It also appeared like it had been worked on at some point, as there were a couple of fresh soldering along some of the buttons. When he looked closer he noticed why, the original motherboard hadn't had more than four buttons, while the current model had almost three times as many. So to make sure that he weren't in for a surprise, he checked what the new buttons had been connected to and made sure that they would actually be able to do anything before he closed the lid. Emi then started up the monitor and began to search through it to see what the actual purpose of it was. The monitor appeared to be made mostly to keep track on far away cameras and other surveillance gear while also being able to keep a track on the robots vital informations.

Since Emi noticed that it was quite a lot of information gathered by the monitor and processed into different meters, he had to implement it. So he turned to the coder and asked him if he could consider making something that could handle the monitor and send the proper information to it. The man accepted but said that it would take him some time to figure out how to send it to the monitor through wifi. Emi nodded and thought of his own little problem, how he would attach it to the robot when the arm it was intended for couldn't be used. He walked around the robot and looked for good places to have it on, but the free areas were either too small or just inconvenient for the robot to reach. So he decided that he would attach the monitor on top of the arm with the net-gun on it, since he had added some strength it would be able to hold them steady while the other hand used the monitor.

Since it would force the robot to angle the heavy gun weirdly while using the monitor if it was attached under its forearm, Emi instead decided to put it on the gun. It didn't look very fancy, but as he was working to make it fully functional and not have a nice design, he allowed it. At one point he considered to actually glue those two items together, but as he remembered that the batteries on the monitor was accessed through the back, he changed his mind. To make sure that the monitor would however not get damaged as it would easily scratch against the robots thigh and stomach, Emi put on a protective wall surrounding it. That made it so the monitor couldn't get any closer to the dangerous parts than the height of the wall. But to make sure, he also created a transparent protective plastic cover over the screen that could be easily removed if needed.

Emi then moved on to the next item that he had found for the right arm, it was a little smaller than the first one but a lot thicker. It wasn't as obvious on what it was from the start as it also looked like some kind of weird weapon, while still not being used by humans as such. But as he opened it up, he was able to confirm that it indeed was something that worked like a gun. It was however only loaded with one single use, but as it wasn't a normal one, he understood why. The new item was a grapnel gun, something he really never seen before, so he was eager to find out how it was build. The mechanism was similar to normal guns, but it was made to be able to produce a lot stronger force, which would allow it to reach further.

At first he was unable to actually find the source of the power for shooting it out, but as he checked the barrel he noticed that there were a large amount of gunpowder behind it. It made him curious however as that would damage the rope and hook more than needed and for some reason they had used fairly fragile equipment. So at first he just emptied the barrel and measured the diameter of the pipes. Emi then made a container in which he placed the gunpower while having a small hole on one of the sides. That hole would then be attached to the lighter in the back of the barrel so it would be able to off. Emi then removed the rope from the hook and tied on some new, stronger version before allowing it to glide down its proper location.

Emi then aimed the grapnel gun towards one of the pillars that were holding up a smaller roof before he fired. At first he thought that it had done exactly what it was supposed to as the hook was shot and attached to the pillar, but then he realized that the rope hadn't been stuck to the gun. Emi grunted and headed over to it and tried to see where it was supposed to be attached to the gun. What surprised him however was that it didn't appear to find anything to tie the rope to, then what was the idea? Emi suspected that since the stage-man was still working on the robot as he came in, then maybe not everything was finished. So he grabbed a piece of metal scrap and bend it into a fitting shape before he placed it on the grapnel gun.

Then another question popped into his mind, where would it be optimal to have it? Since it would just be in the way if he had it on the inside, he expected it to be best somewhere on the outside close to the barrel. When he tried it out however, he noticed that it actually weren't as optimal he assumed. Because as he put in the rope and the hook, the rope fell down weirdly and landed in front of the path of the hook. Just to make sure that it really didn't work as he hoped the opposite, Emi tried to shoot it at the same target again. But he instantly had to regret his decision as the rope exploded all over the room and the hook crashed into the wall next to him.

Emi hesitated for a second until he was able to catch what had happened, but he quickly recovered and fetched the remains. It was obvious that he no longer were able to use the old hook and rope, so he brought some extra rope and began to sketch on how his hook had to be like. Even though he had knowledge about how it had worked before, he wanted to try to make an improvement or possibly just add some of his own flavor. The previous one hadn't done anything special, just getting shot out and grabbing the rope when it could. But Emi wanted his version to be larger and capable of grabbing on to edges and trees if needed. That could only be solved by somehow increase the size of the barrel or to have it unfolded in the barrel.

It took him a few minutes until he had managed to decide on a general design on the new hook as he had to consider the massive force pushing it out. But the finished version would be having a spring-loaded contraption that would shoot out the arms as soon as it left the barrel. The solution was quite simple, but he worried that the springs would be in the way for hooking on to the target. So to decrease the chances of that happening, he used springs with small diameter to allow it to easily bend. Emi tried it out a few times while just holding it to make sure that it really didn't take much effort to hook it on. When he had found the springs that he would consider good enough, he moved on to fix the problem with the rope.

The only solution he could come up with that would allow free passage for the both object was if the robe never were close to being in the way. But since that would require the rope to be attached to the bottom of the grapnel gun, he would need to edit the gun-powder container. Firstly he had to change the material from being some kind of hard plastic to rubber, which meant less damage to the rope and insides of the gun as the charge exploded. Then he needed to fix so that it wasn't a perfect circle, so the rope could get through with some extra space to be sure. Emi did however not dare to give it too much extra space as that would make the force pushing out the hook affect it differently, making it fly in the wrong direction. When he had decided that he no longer could make it smaller, he applied all the pieces to the grapnel-gun for another test.

The boom sounded a little weird, but the rope and hook flew out in a swift manner and hit almost on point. The hook did however not attach itself to the pole as intended even though it looked like a promising trajectory. To make sure that it wasn't just bad luck, he made another attempt which sadly resulted just the same. But what had been the problem? After some analyzing he found that it was most likely due to the strength of the springs that had made it impossible. If he were to use those he had, Emi would need to pull the grapnel-gun after it had surrounded the object, something that required immense timing. So he instead took out the weaker springs and attached some of them to the hook instead.

As he attempted the new version of the hook he was able to get it hooked around the pillar he had aimed for previously. But he had noticed that while the hook was flying through the air it was still opening up and almost didn't manage to get ready until it hit. Even though he didn't want it to work like that, he had to measure the distance to the pole to see how far it needed as it was. Since it was almost 7 meters for it to fully fold out, he knew that he needed to make it more effective. So he removed the springs again and added on different version on the arms to be able to test which one would be the best. He had chosen only among those that he had deemed weak enough to not be in the way as it would wrap itself around the pole.

When he made yet another rubber container for the gunpowder, he took some extra time to make a couple of more as he suspected that it would be needed for some additional attempts. Before he put the hook into the barrel, he made sure to mark up all of the arms in different colors, just to make it easier for him to notice which one was which. Most of them were capable of completely open up before they had reached the pole. But since neither one of them appeared to be fast enough to work at any ranges, so he had to remove the ones that didn't work and try again. The result was once more quite disappointing to the young Hoshigaki, and he began to wonder whether or not he should do something differently. But as he figured out that one of the springs actually had released fairly close to himself, he attached that one to all the arms and decided that it would have to do.

So he put the grapnel-gun back among the other items that he still had to identify, as he didn't know where he would want to have it. Then he picked up the next piece, to see what that one was all about. The piece was something that he had never seen before, not even remotely close and as he was about to bring it along for further studies he saw that there were two of them. That made him a little more curious as he wondered if he had missed further details on the arms or if they were going on the feet, and if so, what were they used for? The bottom of it appeared to be some kind of emitter, like a flame-thrower or an exhaust. But since they were so thin, he didn't feel like they would actually fit the robot as it was, so he opened them up to learn some more. What he found was that they were just used to shoot out a large quantity of fuel received from a tube and ignite it as the fuel gushed out.

That made it possible for it to be so thin, as it only needed to make a safe ignition while evenly spread out the fuel. Since Emi suspected that the pieces were supposed to be on the legs, as he remembered there were something weird on their sole, he checked there first. The weird surface was still looking just as strange but as he knew what he was looking for he was able to locate the holes to attach the pieces to the feet. What confused him was however why there were no lines of fuel going down into the feet. So Emi had to assume that the feet were some of the parts that were unfinished, which forced him to both re-plan and execute it for the robot to function as intended. To start off, he had to find a good spot to have all the fuel stored that would be needed for it to actually fly.

But then he had to decide on how far would it need to fly, or would it be enough to just make smaller jumps? A quick question to the coder gave him the confirmation that the robot wasn't able to do any jumping unless it had something like that to activate. So Emi took out some paper and tried to crunch some numbers, to see how much fuel would be consumed with the robots weight if the intention was to do a couple of jump in comparison to some flight. The result was just about exactly as he had assumed, that he could get a bunch of small jumps instead of making just a few seconds of flight. As he thought of which he wanted to apply, he felt like he needed to calculate some more to get the information on how high and long the jumps would be in comparison to how fast it would fly. Emi then decided that the short and slow flight was not worth all the possible jumps that he could get instead as the jumps would actually be fairly impressive.

So he told the coder that he wanted him to make some functions to handle the cases for jumps and then how to do it. The man nodded and returned to the massive code-blocks on the screen he had in front of himself. Emi then removed a few outer plates on the robot to easier see where he would be able to drag some lines and possibly the container with fuel. As he removed on from the stomach, he realized that there were a lot of empty space there, which made him decide to put the container there. The amount of fuel he was able to put in there forced him to recalculate slightly for how much it had to push out to get it to lift, so when he had made some more correct calculations, he told the coder. The fact that he had to restructure the legs as the tubes had to go through them made him quite frustrated, but as he had plugged the tubes into the feet and put the plates back, he felt like the robot was complete.

Emi walked into his house and placed all of the blueprints on his workbench before he stretched his back and yawned. It had been a tiresome week and he wanted nothing else but to crawl up in his bed and just sleep the remainder of the day. But since he needed to get started with the security details as soon as possible, he headed up and made himself a couple of sandwiches before going into his workplace. He spread out all of the blueprints over the desk, but as it was too many of them even for his massive workbench he had to find another solution. So Emi instead nailed them up to the wall, making sure that those that would be connected to each other was placed as close as possible on the wall. They didn't really match the order in which he intended to do them in, and it wouldn't be perfect height for him to look on details, but he figured he could just stand up and stretch his legs whenever he needed to check anything.

After a swift sketch of the perimeter surrounding the wall into Amegakure he began to write up the different specifications he would need to secure from invaders. At first he wondered if he wanted to create them one at a time or if he would just mass-create all the components and then just put them together. As he looked on all the different parts, and then figured which ones he would need to special craft, he decided that it would be better to just do them one by one. To make sure that he would have the base for the cameras, Emi pulled out the components that was needed and began to screw the structure together. All of the sides were equally large and were dynamically founded, but as the boy attached the outer shell he felt a little disgusted by how bad it looked.

It had all the parts that it needed, but it was just so aesthetically ugly. He knew that he would never feel satisfied by a build if it ended up like that, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to start the entire thing by going off from the blueprint. So he combined the different components like they were intended in the camera and made sure to be careful as he welded them together as most of them were weak to heat. Whenever he noticed that either of them were starting to melt, he had to stop and try to correct the damage. So after he had done so with almost all of the components, he figured that there had to be a better way to attach them.

He could always use soldering, but that would produce almost the same heat on the pieces. Emi then decided that he would manipulate the pieces he already had, to give them some area on the outside of the weak part to protect them. As an attempt he made two identical pieces with a hole in the middle that almost was in the same size as the plastics. He then covered the component with the pieces and then welded them shut. After he had shaken it a few times and attempted to bend it, he decided that it had just been improved by quite a lot.

The component was however far too broad and thick for him to use as an effective version, but he was glad he had found such an easy fix. When he had found some thinner plates of metal, he hammered it out slightly more so it would be just a little fatter than paper. Emi then cut out a bunch of small and thin stripes as he wanted to another possibility. After he had made a total of 6 of them, he placed them surrounding two components which he placed inside the structure and tried to attach them to the walls. There were room for a total of four screws in the stripes of metal, but he only used two of them as he didn't want to apply to much force to the fragile plastic.

The metal proved to be surprisingly effective and resulted in minimum amount of damage to the component, but he was still not satisfied, he wanted more of them to be combined with as little metal used as possible. Since he had been working on a robot and a monitor before, he knew about the use of a motherboard. The cameras pieces were however not as simple to make into a network like that as a lot of them were a lot larger than those used for normal motherboards. But he used the main idea and began to put as many of them together as he possibly could.

When he was done he had a total of three large parts with a bunch of stuff on them. All of them were however too long and broad to find in the camera, making it quite bothersome for the young boy that had to take a few minutes walking around the prototype to figure out the solution. He could bend the flat surface of the parts to make them into cubes, or even one with more sides. To try which one was the most suitable for him, Emi made a sketch of the parts and used glue to represent areas he had components on and weren't allowed to touch. The papers looked quite chaotic as he was ready to start folding, but he knew he wanted it to be like that.

Emi began to fold the one that appeared to be the easiest one, which proved to be just that, easy. But as he attempted the second and third piece, he noticed that he was aiming to get a little too many corners on them. So he calmed down with the aesthetics and accepted the two remaining to get only six sides while the first one had twelve. Emi briefly thought of removing some of the sides on the first one to make them all equal, but then he realized that most of the parts on it would be extremely well suited to be in the middle. So he made a few quick marks on the paper, to see if he actually was correct before he put them all in place.
