Character Depth
Personality:
Andromeda is what most would call scatter brained, forgetful and air headed. With a tendency to forget where she is at, what she is doing and who she is doing it for, there may or may not have been a medical condition for her. Her tendency to forget important facts leak over into, not only her private life, but her professional life as well. This has kept her far back in the ranks her whole life, not wanting to risk the lives of fellow ninja with her tendency to forget the correct jutsu.
Along with forgetfulness comes her clumsy gracefulness, a habit of telling others how to stay healthy, all the while smoking her own home grown brand of tobacco. Hers cigarettes typically calm her nerves and help clear her mind, the rush of nicotine turning the clumsy goof into the calm and focused healer of the leaf. In her 'brainy' mode, she is hyper observant and will look at whatever she needs to, examine broken bones and serious wounds, in the hopes of possibly saving a life once more.
In the past she failed many of her patients, unable to cope with that, she withdrew and became that walking paradox. A medic who was unable to follow the rules of a medic. Though she never gave up on anyone of her patients, she tends to talk to their spirits, or at least what she believes is their spirits. She is very sparsely versed in the language of angels and of the dead, having had a brush with both in her childhood.
Appearance:
Andromeda is rather plain in almost all areas of appearance, standing out around five foot three, long red hair, though she wears it short, cropped to her shoulders. Her eyes are a brilliantly bright brown that stands out when she talks and jumps around, but are darker when she is in a fight or her serious mode is turned on, forcing her to focus on the task at hand. a small bow is set in her hair is a remembrance of the very first patient.
A purple robe lays atop her white checkered top, covering her chest and a little past her waist it seems, stopping around her knees. A short shiry hands to the tops of her knees and is frilled. A small scarf hands around her neck as well as a neck piece that hangs off her uniform issued shirt. Her operations bag has a ton of medical badges plastered all over it, an almost painful indicator that she should be a primary target by anyone with an intent to kill whatever party she is with.
Most of her apparel is stuffed into her large bag, aside from her cloak, robe, clothing, and the ribbon in her hair. Andromeda wears a pair of knee socks with red and blue bands, hr shoes a simple pair of worn and battered converses with no arch support. Her skin is fairly colors like a peach, unmarked by blemishes though beneath her clothing is a jagged gash that loops from her chest, around, and up to her back, a slash from a rather talented demon. It was healed by a very well seasoned veteran of the healing arts.
Background:
Deep in the land of River a reckoning was taking place. A child who was destined as a savior was born. Angels, demons and even spirits of olde gathered, warring, fighting and arguing over just what the child would do, who it side with and ultimately, what side would win. Its sad in a way, to see angels bicker like children over one human being, but when Andromeda was born a great hush fell over the masses, her wide innocent eyes staring out at the world. A part of her knew without really knowing, that she was seeing things she had no business knowing of. Not yet.
Unfortunately she turned out to be...lacking, in the skills department. She was clumsy, forgetful and worst of all she crumbled under pressure. No side wanted her, the demons and angels that visited her dreams. They spoke of what she should have been, could have been, expressing their deepest disappointments in the would be character of Andromeda. I drove the young girl into depression, sucking out all her energy, destroying her self confidence till eventually she became an extrovert. It eventually got so bad that her parents sent her off to nun school, believing that all her depressions and bad luck were simply curses from demons and the like. A sad thing it was, that no one could see the cloud of self worthlessness that seemed to hang over her.
At the monastery she learned so much, saw and was taught by the lingering spirits how to speak the tongue of the demons, and then that of angels. She learned little of both tongue with her inability to comprehend everything they said, but she could hold a very, very basic conversation. When she was 15 she was released, sent to the leaf village in hopes that he disciplinary methods they used in the schools would toughen her mind and spirit, give her purpose, and it did, until she failed her first mission.
It went terribly awry, a simply delivery turning into a do or die situation. She was delivering a package, simple, easy, but she came upon a burning cottage. Inside the screams of a family caught in its wrath reached her ears and she ran forward. The flames leapt high and there was but one window she could reach. Frantic, feminine hands pushed a small girl, no older than 4 into her hands, and a wild eye caught hers through the smoke. "Save my baby!" Cried a voice from inside before the mother was swallowed and Andromeda tossed aside her delivery to take the child.
Despite her best efforts and all she had learned at the monastery, at the academy, the little life slipped from between her fingers. It was a crushing blow that put reality in check for Andromeda, a new more serious side taking hold of her psyche. She wasn't perfect, she wasn't flawless, but never again in the most die of situations would she fail again. Too bad she can hardly remember the time of day, let alone her jutsu!
