Lair of the Alchemist (Stronghold) [P]

Deep within the southern isles of the Land of Moon, surrounded by lush, mist laden jungles is the Lair of Gennai. It is a small stronghold component comprised of an Alchemical Laboratory and Storage room.  Here is a simple layout of the building. Virid fauna cover three meter high pillars of stone; at the back side of the laboratory is a small inset; "Subject Yamanaka" which is located on a pile of stones, an indication of a burial site. To the east--right--of the structure is a well. A small stream is in front of the stairs leading to the place: given the location of this stronghold, Gennai could search for herbs and insects right outside of the place. Below is the concept of the layout broken down.

Alchemical Laboratory

To step inside of the laboratory via stone antechamber, one must slide open the Japanese-style doors, which will lead into the stone masoned floors and walls of this establishment. Few ferns and weeds grow inside of here, Gennai is sure to keep the place free of debris. This is his soul chamber--his epicenter. It is within these walls that his creations come to fruition. Few grease and chemical stains litter the dust laden rock floors. Lanterns are hung above both tables in the lab, but a source of light also looms from the fireplace.

The walls of the laboratory contain the following listed component parts based on direction:

North - To the north wall is a massive fireplace, and to its left is hay and firewood, used to kindle intense flames; on the opposite side is a hidden wall which opens as a door into the outside back of the lab.

West - Here is the Keg, Large and two water basins. From the stream or well, Gennai can gather water to fill these massive tubs. Two small lights are fitted above the basins.

East - A side door to the eastern wall leads into theStorage Room,  where lies the alchemist's items. A shelf which holds empty beakers and flasks for the alchemist is adjacent to the door way.

South - The door leading to the antechamber outside. It also has a table were a small stove is located which is used to heat things and hold beakers. 

Center - Within the center is the true table. Here, all experiments are performed. It is also here that Gennai can sit and read tomes or write notes. Beakers of varying size litter the massive wooden table.

Storage Room

This small room is to the northeast of the establishment and can be entered via a side door that slides open in Japanese style. Within this room is a few lighting fixtures and three cabinets. Each shelf can house various mixtures or items depending on its color. The two black cabinets have three shelves a piece, with a room of ten items per shelf, meaning thirty items per cabinet. The larger, single brown cabinet has five shelves which can hold up to fifty items or mixtures in total, thus allowing Gennai a large range of storage in so small a room. The floors of the side addition are stone as well; vines and other small foliage grow here, as do cobwebs. In front of the southern wall is the well located outside.

The stride of Gennai had been one of cool nature. Smoothly, he stepped past the antechamber of the stonewall stronghold into his laboratory. For a moment, he stood at the large desk in the center, looking over some papers as to his latest work. The man would quickly move into the Storage Room and place within the Black Cabinet¹ the following items from his tactical vest:

- Vial 100ml x8
- Vial 50ml x16
- Vial 50ml x16

Once he had closed the doors of the cabinet, he would re-position his inventory of knives, syringes, a pair of goggles, the remaining vial 100 and 50mls, his regional scroll of the island; the aerosol spray-cans that he possessed remained in their slots, as well as the hefty stack of explosive locking tags. His wineskin hung at his waist, and his wakizashi to its opposite. The alchemist then returned to his lab and proceeded to exit into the surrounding forest.

The wily alchemist had found himself in a terrible position: that of being in his laboratory without the proper ventilation! Gennai had been near what he thought the magnum opus; his eyes were heavy and his mind poisoned from weeks without sleep. He had been delirious in his alchemical proclivity and would pay for that severely with his own life. The lab was filled with toxic fumes of sulfur and arsenic; he would inhale the mixture deeply, having noted the color of the green lion, thinking he was nearing the work; yet life was quickly seized from him by this volatile chemical, and upon the floor, he died.
