Katsu crashed to the ground of the unfamiliar surroundings, Yuichi's rough shove enough to unbalance him as he tumbled into a room he had never known to exist until this moment. The room was a white expanse that went in all directions for twenty meters in a circle. Wherever this was, it was obviously meant to be either a detainment chamber or a training one, perhaps it would be both for Katsu. Getting to his feet Katsu looked to Yuichi, only to have a large tome thrown at him. Catching it with both hands Katsu heard Yuichi speak sternly.
"I'm told you lack skill in Genjutsu. We're going to rectify that, whether you think it's possible or not. A Raikage needs to be exemplary in all of the things they do; it's your duty to the people of Kumogakure. Your Taijutsu is powerful if lacking melee skill, and your Ninjutsu and special abilities are potentially lifesaving, but you lack Genjutsu altogether, and that's a problem." Yuichi looked down at Katsu, his arms folded and a look of command on his face. "Read that tome, it contains a wide variety of different Genjutsu to choose from. Pick something useful, learn it. I'll be back in a few hours with food and to test your results."
And away Yuichi went, leaving Katsu alone in a completely empty room except for a single book. Katsu didn't fight against what had happened. He was still floored by the fact that he was apparently to be Raikage. Slowly his fingers felt the pages of the heavy tome he was carrying, and he began to think of the untold amounts of knowledge held within. In addition to that Katsu knew that what Yuichi had said was true. He completely lacked Genjutsu and he knew that as Raikage he had to be an inspiring form for the rest of the village. A paragon. Setting the book on the floor Katsu slowly opened the pages, beginning to search for a Genjutsu that he felt would benefit him...

Pattern. Hypnosis. A useful Perception to learn to disable foes without actually harming them. This appealed to Katsu's nature, and so he went back to the passage describing the initial manner in creating Pattern-type chakra. It was simple to learn, but difficult to master, apparently. At the basic level it involved just emitting chakra in, wait for it, specific patterns, while more difficult techniques required special frequencies and tints and a bunch of other variables Katsu did not expect.
The first thing that Katsu needed to be able to do was create patterns. The thing was, all Genjutsu was a Yin-type Manipulation, so Katsu had to start there. Sitting down Katsu cross-legged Katsu placed one hand out, holding it up in front of him as he began to concentrate. Yin chakra was purely mental energy with only a small amount of Yang to keep it cohesive. Katsu was much better at dealing with Yang chakra, so he focused on that first, trying to create a base to tie his Yin chakra to. It was difficult, but soon Katsu has formed a little pillar of Yang chakra in his hand, invisible to everyone but him. Trying the tie Yin threads to it was far more difficult however. Yin was mental energy, and actively trying to shape your own mind was something Katsu had little experience with. He could only think of the time he had muted his emotions, squashing his Yin energy and tightly controlling it to let him think more freely without his emotions breaking his concentration.
With that memory in mind Katsu tried to recall the sensation, but in reverse, to try and cause his Yin to ooze up out of his hand to curl around his pillar. It was a slow and agonizing process at first, the Yin refusing to do as Katsu desired, but he managed to bit by bit cause a single strand to wrap itself around the pillar without mixing with it. Sighing in relief, Katsu began his second strand, noting the increase ease at which he caused the second strand to ascend. Third, fourth, and more and more continued in that pattern, becoming easier with each one as Katsu got the hang of shaping his Yin chakra. It was similar to shaping his Yang, but required purely mental focus, rather than relying on moving his muscles a certain way like Yang did.
With Yin and Yang formed into a tower, Katsu tried to move on to forming it into a pattern, trying to think of a shape and arrangement that would have some kind of effect. In the end he decided trying to form a spider's web was perhaps the best way to start, and with his Yin chakra at the ready he began to slowly shape it into what he desired. A dozen threads laid just so, intertwining with each other in an impossibly complex cat's cradle game. It was hard to keep the Yin chakra cohesive, the strings wanted to blur into each other, pulling on each other tightly until they snapped.
Sighing in frustration Katsu tried a different method, starting with a single thread then adding another one to it, wrapping it loosely before moving to the next thread. Four, five, seven, eleven, fifteen, twenty, thirty, more and more threads. There were several that kept slipping away and had to be replaced, but eventually it was done. Hopefully, the pattern would have an affect, Katsu wasn't quite sure what'd it be, but perhaps wisps of shadow would waft from the chakra, a web of patterned darkness...

Pattern Perception
Rank: "C"
Skill: GenJutsu
Effect: Jutsu allows the user to perform Pattern Perceptions.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Patterns, like Figments and Glamours, produce sensory impressions, and everyone within range perceives the same thing. Patterns contain an additional, mind-affecting element, and they can cause real, physiological effects. All patterns are Mind-Affecting Jutsus. While everyone sees a color spray, only some of those within the cone actually deal with its effects. Note: that a particular sense is required for patterns to have an effect. Sightless creatures ignore Color Spray, for instance. If you want multiple subjects to be affected by what they see, and you do not care if everyone perceives it happening, pattern might be a good choice.
