The Ancient Ruins [EVENT]

[Solus]

A

ttacking so suddenly seemed to have had its effect. The spirit seemed not to have anticipated it and took the hit, taking it out of the equation for now. Only two left, the wind elemental and the emperor. The latter was clearly the threat, so Gosei could finally return to his initial adversary.

The one assigned to detain that adversary, Citlali was in the mean time having problems keeping the flame emperor under control. The choice for Citlali however had been twofold. Not only was the winged serpent of sufficient strength to keep an even pace with such a powerful opponent, it was also quite autonomous. As soon as the first fireball would start to penetrate the defensive wall the creature would opt out of that defence, instead swinging the fanned end of its tail at Emperor Lackland from the side. Using this direction his technique would not have to contend with that of the phantom, instead being free to rip the man into sixteen neat slices by the fifteen wind blades generated in this manner.

At the first signs of the barrier being assaulted by fire Gosei would thirty five ravens made out of lightning. As soon as the barrier was dropped the Godaime would start to send out these electric ravens to intercept each and every fireball, attempting to detonate the hot balls of fire before they would come close enough to anyone to do harm. With thirty five ravens he was sure to have enough until Citlali would brutally interrupt the emperor with his blades of wind.

Gosei:

Raiton – Raiu Karasu (Thunderstorm Raven) [70]

Effect: User creates birds out of Lightning to shoot at opponents.
Special: "Handseals" - Holds "Bird Handseal"
Drawback: Must learn multiple times. Birds disappear after moving further than 40 meters away from the user.
Description: User forms needed handseals and hold the Bird Handseal. User creates an amount of birds (User's Choice, Mostly Ravens) and shoots them at the opponent. Each bird is created from pure electricity, discharge into a shock of electricity when striking an object while having a 2 foot wingspan. Each individual bird has a "D" Rank equivalent amount of power when hitting. Depending on the Rank the user knows depends on the amount of birds the user is able to create, how many times they must learn the same rank before going into the next rank, how much power it takes to create the birds, and how well each bird can fly.

"C" Rank - When first learned the user is able to create 5 birds each time the technique is performed. User is able to learn this rank 10 times. Each time learned user is able to create 5 additional birds each time technique is performed, creating a maximum of 50 birds if learned 10 times. Every 10 birds uses the amount of energy equal to 1 "C" Rank Technique. Each bird has the flight capability of Poor: The creature flies as well as a very large bird.

"B" Rank - After learning the "C" Rank 10 times, user must then learn the "B" Rank version. Each time learned the user is able to create 5 additional birds on top of the 50. User is able to learn this rank 10 times giving a maximum of 100 birds created each time the technique is performed. Every 10 birds uses the amount of energy equal to 1 "C" Rank Technique. Each bird has the flight capability of Average: The creature can fly as adroitly as a small bird.

Citlali:

Fuuton - Dai Kamaitachi (Great Cutting Whirlwind)
Rank: "B"
Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: Can repel any weapon's projectile attack regardless of dodge stat.
Special: User must give a full swing with a long weapon three feet or larger, or arm.
Drawback: Depending on the user's class level depends on the user's capability of using this technique.
Description: The user is capable of using a fan, or a weapon that is longer then that of three feet to perform, or even their arm. When the performs this technique they quickly attack within a distance of forty meters in cone form. The user then blows a concussive wind that is imbued with Chakra. With this technique the user launches an amount of fifteen large win cutting blades within the length of three feet each in a large like arc. This technique is launched in a confined form and used within short distance of five meters when first learned as a "D" Class character. With every class level the user is higher then that of "D" The distance increases by five meters. As the technique is launched it gives out deep cuts into the opponent. When hit against the ground the force of the blades is capable of picking up the ground, kicking up dirt making vision difficult.

[Nira]

Since nothing had apparently disrupted the shadow clone in putting up its modified tenkai, she entered her rage as planned. Being in that rage made her unable to come up with a defense against other attacks, so she was struck by flames and destroyed.

With the tenkai barrier created by the shadow clone, Tarah didn't need to worry about any attacks coming her way. After the wind barrier fell, attacks still needed to bypass the tenkai, which could easily withstand at least four attacks from some of the highest ranked techniques.

While protected by the tenkai wall, Tarah moved towards the wind entity she had taken control of. Until the excavation team was rescued, she had to protect the being from any harm, or else she'd lose control. Tarah used a single shunshin to close the distance faster.

Then, it was just a matter of deflecting anything that came her way.

Shunshin no Jutsu - Oshi (Body Flicker Technique - Push)

Effect: A Jutsu that allows a user to rush forward in almost instantaneous speed. Used to draw the user close to the opponent.
Special: ---
Drawback: May use 3 times a day. May perform 1 more each time learned. Passing amount renders the user's legs immobile due to severe pain. Unable to perform again unless gained medical treatment. Must move through an opening. Unable to maneuver around obstructing objects. Can't attack while performing any Shunshin or Variation.
Description: User is able to move forward in a straight line along the ground in almost instantaneous untraceable speed while temporarily masking the user's movements within 10 meters. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by focusing the user's chi along the ankles and foot. User mostly moves just with their ankles and feet. Jutsu takes up no movements. User may only use this Jutsu half of the movements may allow in a single round while rounding down. Example: User has 5 movements, user is able to perform Jutsu 2 times per round.
Limit: Universal NinJutsu or Universal TaiJutsu.

The fight was begining to fall apart. Now, both minor elementals who had taken the path of battle were down for the count it would seem. The Wind Elemental was spending a long time working on that trap. He hadn't even removed the stone completely yet. For a beast of the wind, he was not the characteristic wielder of the virtue of swiftness that one might expect. Regardless, he was moving, getting the archaelogists, with any luck, back into the living form. It would be a miracle of rare device if they had lived and their saviors had died; a posthumous success to the mission of the previous, or a removal of the value of their matyrdom? That would be a topic for the philosophy classes at Tanzaku Gai. For now, the art of Chakra Warfare was being practiced in full swing.

Each and every one of the firballs was struck down by a raven of lightning. The Emperor was appalled; his gatling blow was not enough. It was signature technique of his faction, and it had often turned the tides of full-on battles. This duel, and it was not won? It was inconceivable, to say the very least, and the Imperator was taken aback. He thought quickly however, and threw a ligtning bolt at the snake, without handseals, in the style of that mythical god of the sky. It was a fast technique, and would hopefully stun the snake. It gave him time to properly brace himself, and catch his guard before the summon was done drawing its strength together. He dodged most of the force of the wind by leaping out of the way, but the wind was going to be weak against him anyways due to his very nature. He was still alive and well.

Meanwhile, Tarah found no issues preventing her from getting to the door. The door was still open, on virtue of it having the crown in it. She would be in archway, reading to go out, and unable to see the Wind Elemental in the distance.

Zeus's Bolt

Description: By focusing chakra in the center of the palm the use is able to send lightning from the center of the palm to make a three foot long lightning bolt in their hand which is able to be thrown like a javelin.
Limit: Lightning Release Skill (Raiton no Jutsu).

[Solus]

T

his thing was relentless. It just refused to die. Tarah seemed to be occupied with rescuing the archaeological team, which meant that it was unto Gosei to either keep this thing occupied or kill it. Citlali hissed when a bolt of lightning hit him. Not that such a puny projectile would do much against a 35 ton armoured serpent. Still, it interrupted the creature from retaliating properly hissing in a small spasm.

Their adversary had proven to be quite competent at countering him and his Couatl. Wind jutsu clearly did not affect the emperor. Fire had not harmed it either. Present were an elemental of wind, one of lightning and of fire. Gosei would slowly start to thread things together. He had been able to damage the fire being with the other two elements, elements it probably could not control. The emperor however was different, he had shown to be able to command air, lightning and fire. Perhaps another element would do the trick? Time to put this to the test. Aiming at the emperor Gosei would form handseals, shooting a ball of water that would zoom past his summon and straight into the chest of the emperor if the latter did not move out of the way in time. "Mors tua, vita mea..."

Description: The Teppodama is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja does some hand seals which then causes a a big ball of water to come from the users mouth and then hit their target.

Gosei had taken up all of the offense at this point. He was doing pretty well, considering the tight space and the chaotic conditions. He also wasn't using anything too overwhelming, so it was likely that he paid attention to preserving the ancient surroundings.

The wind entity was farther than Tarah anticipated. She was torn between backing Gosei up, or going through with her plan to preserve the wind entity. Her faith in the hokage's strength was still in tact, so Tarah decided to keep going with her exit plan.

"Hokage-sama," Tarah yelled before she got too far, "crystal in the back wall is important!"

Then, after giving what little information she had, Tarah used another two forward shunshins to complete the retreat and instantly reduce the distance between her and the wind entity by twenty meters.

The fight was all but won, as the Hokage came up with his greatest idea as-of-yet that day. The Dragon used his breath weapon, or that is what it would seem like. The Imperator was shocked kby all of this; he saw a man using not the traditional means of chakra molding, but some barbaric perversion. Not only that, but he utilized an element that was all but unknown to the Imperator. He knew vaguely of beings who used water as their ninjutsu element, but he had no idea that the human race had ever gained access to those secrets. On account of this he was taken aback, and took even more damage. And, to worsen the blow, his fire aspect was dampened by the water. All in all, the normally minuscule technique was made into a fatal strike. "Cedo!" He screamed, as he slumped to the floor. His form would become less human, beginning to take on the appearance of the elements he bore, and even raw chakra in places. Than, as he began to rise again, he would seem to fade from existence. Meanwhile, the being of wind would be plucked completely from existence, drained of all reality by some powerful enchantment unknown to modern practitioners of the art. The other two elementals would be reduced to nearly nothing, and then they too would fade, leaving the now-duo of adventurers alone in the chamber. The door was still open on account of the crown being there, but the process of recalling the archaeologists to life was not yet complete. How they would do that without the aid of the ancient beings, none could know.

[Solus]

S

uddenly it was all over, with the quite timely end of the emperor the strings of the puppet master had been severed and the other elementals also ceased to exist. Who would have guessed that water would do the trick? Just like the angry witch of the west in the stories it had been defeated with a mere splash. "Well... That overdid it..." Gosei commented, looking at the crystal which presumably had held the archaeological team. Operated by the wind elemental not minutes ago, now abandoned to eternity unless Tarah and Gosei found some way to manipulate the mineral.

Walking over to the specified rock Gosei would observe it closely, perhaps he had some skill that could be used to work this rock to spill its secrets. "Well, take a look around I guess, there is bound to be something here that can shed more light on this entire situation."

[Nira]

Much to Tarah's confusion, the engagement had ended. "Oh you have got to be kidding me."

Apparently, Gosei was a little too strong. The battle was finished before anything could have gotten done.

---

A meeting of the past lives took place inside Tarah's mind. There was a lot that needed to be figured out.

"Enemy eliminated, but the rescue failed," said Tarah. "Options?"

Alida, true to gladiator philosophy, started with the simplest solution. "Brute force? Break whatever the wind creature was messi-"

"What are you doing?!" Deena Baycloud screamed into the mind, loudly enough to end the transmission of thoughts between other personalities. "Limited time window! Try to bring the leader back to life before you try anything else!

Tarah's eyes lit up as she received the thought, "Oh yeah. But wait, he didn't leave a body. What do I cast on?"

"Try the big crystal in the back wall. Maybe its enchantment kept them alive, that might count as a body." Elsie suggested.

Tarah immediately turned around and dashed toward the back wall with blistering speed. She used her instantaneous movements once again, so that she could maximize the distance covered. At her current level of ability, Tarah could perform six shunshin in a row, so that was the amount she used to guarantee the fastest possible arrival to the chakra crystal in the back wall.

Once there, if she wasn't obstructed, Tarah reached over to the crystal and attempted to call back the defeated soul of the leader. If the crystal was particularly high up, Tarah could still walk over to it by attaching to the wall with chakra covering the soles of her feet.

If the soul was successfully called back, it was unlikely for there to be any significant danger. Those brought back to life by Tarah's technique were unable to perform chakra techniques, which seemed to be the bulk of the leader's firepower. However, if his revival also returned the elemental entities, there was a chance those entities could still cast.

Should the elemental entities be restored, it meant the return of the wind entity as well. That entity was going to be the target of another takeover by Tarah, so that it may finish releasing the excavation team.

However, if only the leader was restored by the revival, then the leader was going to be the new target of Tarah's soul takeover technique. If chakra was needed to release the captured teams, instructions of the release procedure could be obtained instead.

All this operated on the assumption that the crystal was what helped anchor the ancient souls to the material realm. If that failed, Tarah still had time to try and use the crown key as the replacement of the body.

But, if it failed completely, and nothing was revived, then it was back to the internal mind conversations.

Description: User reaches beyond and grabs hold of a fallen ally pulling their soul back to their body for the time being. User touches the body, and grasps hold of the soul that used to be bounded within the body. User places the soul back into the body allowing the user to live for an extra amount of time. The target comes back to life for 4 minutes per class level. The target's body must be dead within 4 rounds or else it will not work as the soul would simply have passed on and cannot be placed back by the means of the Soulcaster. Wounds will exist but the target will not feel it. Target may die by decapitation or when time runs out. Target will not be able to perform any Chakra Techniques. The target gains the techniques of Soul Sight and Soul Save if the user knows them. A target may only have this technique performed on them once, and only once.
Limit: Must be a Soulcaster.

Soul Speak

Effect: Your soul commands the soul of another.

Drawback: The user cannot perform any other technique while this technique is active. If pained is caused to the possessed victim, the technique is cancelled. Also one cannot manipulate the victim to commit suicide or to harm him or herself.
Description: The user is able to send their soul into an opponent's body, granting the user the ability to manipulate the opponent’s body. If the user has the same Class as the victim, the technique will last 7 rounds. If the opponent has higher class level, subtract 1 round for every additional class level from the rounds. If the opponent has lower class level, add 1 round for every class level for the total of rounds. The user will still be capable of moving their own body while performing this technique, however the drawback still takes place.
Limit: Must be a Soulcaster.

Suddenly, the woman of many minds would be a blur across the room, dodging her ally and doing everything she could to reach the crystal in the back of the room.  She would push, with all the might of her soul, to bring back the creature who Gosei had just dispatched so readily. She thought the crystal was allowing her to resurrect the thing, and likely her impression would remain that way. But that was not the case. The creature was composed partially of air, and that air was still present in the area. Therefore, using that as a sort of makeshift body, she dragged the soul of the Imperator back into the area. It was not easy though. She was forced to fight against the chakra field. It did not want to allow anything to enter or exit the area by magical means. Yet, her willpower was strong, and she did so. The Imperator formed in a weak fashion, a pile of fire and lightning and wind once more.

He was reborn on his feet, but he immediately tumbled. He was a creature of chakra, and without that aid, he would not be able to function. He was a soul in a casing of elements. The soul technique was not able to adequately restore his chakra molding. Unless the woman had another way of communicating with the leader of an ancient civilization that did not require verbal communication, she would have simply brought a corpse back to a vegetative state.

[Solus]

A

pparently Tarah had some extraordinary powers, bringing the man back from the dead. Yet the technique seemed to be imperfect. Gosei's ryuugan could see the elements of wind and lightning forming again, as he could see the fire with his normal eye, but there was no chakra to support a form like he had sensed with his sensor senses before killing this creature. "Uhm... I'll try to link my mind to his... Not that he can resist much in this state." Gosei said, bringing his hands together into a set of seals. He would attempt to charm the emperor again, something that was necessary anyway or the creature probably not talk to him in the first place had it not been brainwashed into trusting the Godaime.

Had the charm on the spirit been successful, Gosei would form a second set of handseals. Normally he would use the 'bonded thoughts' jutsu, but that one involved touch, and Gosei in particular did not feel like sticking his hands anywhere near that volatile mix of elements. Thus, the 'Beyond words' jutsu would have to do. It was a communication jutsu that would not be as potent as the other option, but once it was in place the intended effect would be exactly the same. "If you value your honour and do not want damnatio memoriae, you shall aid us now." He would relay had everything been successful

This Jutsu functions like Charm Person, except that Mass Charm Person affects multiple people within the area.

Beyond Words [10]

Effect: Beyond Words allows the user to communicate mentally with the target during its duration.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: Similar to Thrall's Understanding, this Jutsu can be performed at any point during the Charm effect.
Description: A Mind-Affecting Technique. Affects anyone who sees the user. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 7 meters plus 6 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 hours per class level. This technique may be negated. In addition to the effects of Thrall's Understanding, Beyond Words allows the user to communicate mentally with the target during its duration. Once performed, the target can travel any distance from the user and still remains affected by the initial Charm effect, regardless of the range limitations of the original Jutsu.
Limit: Must know the Charm Perception. Must know Thrall's Understanding.

The leader had been successfully revived. Tarah leaned against the back wall and exhaled in relief. It wasn't a perfect revival, though. It seemed that the entity relied too heavily on chakra, so he wasn't able to move around with only his soul.

Thankfully, Gosei offered to probe the mind of the revived spirit. That saved Tarah from the anxiety of having to ask. If Gosei didn't have any mind invaders, this course of actions would have mostly been useless.

That also meant that Tarah didn't need to hold a conference with the past lives. She was free to relax for a moment.

[Y]

The Godaime Hokage would have no problem placing his enchantment upon the recently revived emperor of the Clasical Era. Their minds would link, and the sensation would be quite unusual. It was unlike dealing with any other mind Gosei had dealt with in his time as an illusionist. It was a distant mind, as if projected from another place, and it was a truly Byzantine brain, with odd flows of chakra all over the place, not centered particularly in the brain, or in any place for that matter. But, it was present, and the charm slightly lessoned the mind's ferocity of attacks against the will of the Dragon of Konoha.

The creature reeled in his mind. There was no verbal communication, just a struggle, an uncomfortable feeling. It was clear that he did not wish to be forgotten by history, but he saw smug still, convinced that none could forget him. In his mind, he referred to himself as 'Augsutus,' or at least that name was heard, echoing in the labyrinth that was his psyche. Whether it was the name or the title he was using was hard to say in this case.

[Solus]

D

efiant until the very, very, very end. Even when he was nothing but a puddle of elements on the floor, thousands of years after the end of his life, all but forgotten in the basement of the ruin above. At least the mental communication, unpleasant as it was, allowed him to apply pressure to what remained of what was once a great man. "I know who you are. You think it not possible, but I shall see to it. I shall have your name chiselled out in every stone, every book that even mentions you shall be burned and rewritten, and the only reference to your existence shall be that of the the catamite stable boy. Tell me how to free those people and this place shall become a sanctuary and a place of pilgrimage. Elige!

[Nira]

Having not received any knowledge of progress yet, Tarah continued to do nothing else but observe.

Vi continued to wait outside, since she didn't get any significant signal yet. She heard a few sounds of battle earlier, but those noises were quelled a few seconds ago.

[Y]

The mind would reel and laugh at once, trying to evaluate the threat that this Consul served as. He was certainly a threatening presence, and he had some sway. Yet, the voice of the emperor echoed through this self-proclaimed Augustus' head, and he realised that he was far greater than the Consul was purporting, he realised that none could destroy his great reputation. Yet, he cared little for the mortals who were caught within his trap. There was no reason he could not return them. But, the price would not be out of fear. No matter how hard his memory was damned, the Consul could not gain any ground on extracting his slaves. If those slaves were powerful and merely foolish to fall into the trap, he would be making the folly which Regulus once avoided, but, if they were the weaklings which the Imperator expected, he would be making an excellent trade.

"Servos, Consul, tuos referam si hanc coronam frangēs." [Consul, I was return your slaves if you break this crown.] The telepathic link would say to Gosei. It was his decision from here. It was clear to any chakra seer that the crown had chakra in it and was linked into the room. What would happen when it was broken would require an expert to say. The Imperator gestured towards the crown on the pedestal, with what was clearly a difficult to perform gesture.

[Solus]

E

merald otherworldy eyes darted to the other side of the room when Gosei observed the crown again. The thing did have a prominent place on that pedestal so either it was truly important or had some symbolic value. Or it was just a distraction of course. Would this person lie? It had shown no inclination so far to do so. "It claims that breaking that crown will return the 'slaves'." Gosei mentioned out loud to Tarah. Slowly and carefully approaching the object and studying it thoroughly first before he would make a decision. "What do you think?"

[Nira]

Tarah thought for a moment, consulting all her separate personalities for their individual viewpoints. When she was finished, her eyes narrowed. "Incorrect. It might be a possible solution, but will only be conducted as a last resort. Previously, a wind entity I took control of headed directly for the entrance to free the captives. That indicates a different solution, since there was no action towards the crown at that time. Find out what the wind entity was supposed to be doing before its disappearance. We will only attempt breaking the crown after my revival's time limit runs out."

[Y]

"Fools," The Imperator said, through his mental link to the Kage. "You do not dare defy me. And, you dare not rid the world of such an artist another time. If you break the crown, I will have the power to free the slaves." His mind was reeling with lighting and fire and storms. Although Gosei's link wasn't extraordinarily strong, he was beginning to pick up on images. He recognised the scene that was set. The Ancient City was burning, and the perception was first  person. While he did not seem to feel the sensations that one would feel in that situation, perhaps because the beast did not feel like he did, he did hear the sound of a fiddle playing, and that of laughter, as his eyes were transfixed on the city. He would recognize the tale of the Emperor fiddling while the city burned. 

[Nira]

While waiting for a decision to take place, Tarah considered a different option. She had a method to attack things without doing physical harm. If she were able to sever the connection of the crown with a soul technique, that still fulfills the need for destruction without breaking the object itself. In that case, there was a chance for both objectives to be fulfilled. The retrieval of the excavation team and the preservation of ancient objects.

Tarah let her arms dance through the air, before she fired a beam of soul energy in a straight line, right at the crown.

Of course, soul attacks were strictly based on assaulting life forces. If there wasn't a life force to sever within the crown, then the attack wouldn't have any affect.

Description: This attack is a 15 meter ray of soft blue light. The user attacks one person by extending their arm out. This attack hits the insides of the user, affects their very life force. At first it doesn't cause much damage however the higher the more the user learns the deadlier the technique becomes. The attack leaves no physical damage, but creates internal damage against the user's life line. People said it feels like having a heart attack while having lost of breathe. Each time learned the user is capable of shooting this technique 5 meters extra. Technique may travel 10 meters per second plus 5 meters per Class Level.
After 50 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level.
After 100 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level.
After 150 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level.
Cap of this technique is 200 meters.

his thing seemed very much intent on nothing but power, mainly the gaining and holding on to it. This in turn would make Gosei suspicious. His trust ran no further than the distance a cat could puke. Forming a new set of handseals Gosei would try to make 'Augustus' a confidante of his, ready and willing to tell everything it knew. "Why would we smash the crown? What would that exactly do? Can we not free those people ourselves, like whatever that wind elemental was trying to do before I defeated you?" If smashing the crown could be avoided, along with giving any more power to thing then that would be great. Gosei detested the sheer thought of having to destroy a shiny thing.

Effect: The target of Confidante treats the user as an utterly trusted friend, telling them anything they are asked to reveal.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: This can be performed at any time while a Charm Person (or other Charm Jutsu depending on the type of creature) Jutsu performed by the user on the target creatures is in effect.
Description: A Mind-Affecting Technique. Affects 1 charmed creature. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 7 meters plus 6 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 hours per class level. This technique may be negated. The only limit to this newfound trust is if revealing the information would get someone else the target cares about hurt or killed. (This condition applies only if the target is aware of a real danger; suspicion of a threat to those it cares about is not enough.) Then they automatically resists the urge to answer the question but the Jutsu itself is still in effect. A continuing advantage of Confidante is that the target will consider the user someone to inform any time they come into new information of interest to them. The user will have to explain what qualifies for this but, once this is established, the target will seek out the user if at all possible whenever such information comes into their possession. The target does not become empowered with any ability to locate the user, nor will they risk their life to gather information (unless forced to do so through other Jutsus).
Limit: Must know the Charm Perception. Must know Charmed Person (and other Charmed Jutsus depending on the creature type).
