"Okay then...you want me to get rid of your chicken pox eh? Can't take two weeks off from the Academy and wait it out at home?"
"Can't. I'll miss too much work. Don't you have some kind of jutsu to clear this up?"
"I think I do. Let me try."
Today he had been stuck with clinic duty. Not the most exciting use of this time nor the most interesting. Just hour after hour of prescribing pills for common colds, healing up bruises from scuffles and the occasional junkie trying to trick him into providing some very powerful painkillers. Some even went the extra mile, reading up on their diseases and faking the appropriate symptoms. Luckily he had the foresight to bring his Sniper Goggles with Canny Descrier to screen out those ass-wads. Most of them left without a fight, the others had to be threatened with a scalpel which Zakari wasn't ashamed to say he enjoyed doing. And now it was him and Patient X. At least he finally got to try out a new technique.
Honestly he wasn't quite sure how to proceed this time. Removing diseases wasn't something he was used to. Healing flesh and mending bone he could but he was at a loss as to where he should start with a disease like chicken pox. Still pondering on this he decided it would be best to at least get a grasp of how far the pox had spread before anything else. He got her to sit up straight while he started counting the red pox on her face, arms and legs. There weren't many, by his approximation she could be in her fifth day. But he couldn't confirm without a bit more thoroughness. He had her lie face down and lifted up her shirt, after she consented to after warning him not to get too 'handsy'.
There was a higher concentration of the red pustules here which brought his approximation up to 8 days instead. Only a week more before they would vanish on their own accord but that's not what she wanted. Getting her to sit up straight Zakari started channeling chakra into his arms grabbing hold of her arm, into her body. Everyone had a vaccination shot against diseases such as chicken pox and measles in their youth and her medical history stated that this held true in her case as well. If so then her antibodies should have had enough time to build up the proper lymphocytes and phagocytes against the chicken pox. Only that they were in short supply, it took quite a while to build up an immune response and even longer for it too get rid of the chicken pox.
The chakra that seeped into the girls body targeted those specific white blood cells, the ones fighting off chicken pox, which was how he found them in the first place. Then he started encouraging them to undergo cell division, taking in nutrients and glucose from the body to supplement this process. Slowly the rate of phagocytes and lymphocytes being produced increased, first twice more than before, than double that, and then doubling that once more until soon there were enough antibodies to fight off the chicken pox at a noticeable scale. The Kedoin sat back in his chair and instructed the girl to stay still. Minutes passed but the red pox on her face and body did not fade away as he thought it would. Perhaps the removal of acne was not the responsibility of the white blood cells.
Experimentally he probed one of the red pustules on her arm with a tendril of chakra, encircling it, immersing it in his positive energy. There had to be another way to deal with the pox. Just plain popping them was bound to leave marks but what if he programmed the pox cells to disintegrate in a way to avoid that? It would still be messy, juices and pus would flow with the removal of each zit but he wasn't all that comfortable with this tactic. There was another way. He could sever the connection of the pox from the body so it would stop receiving nutrients and just harden like scabs and fall off. There was a less chance of them leaving marks this way and a lot less messier to remove. A little cauterization of the vessels that connected the pox and the body and soon they watched as the red pox turned grey and hard. Within a minute it fell off her arm on its own, leaving no trace behind on her skin.
"I'll have to do them one at a time," said Zakari, stretching a little before he got back to work. "This is gonna be a while..."
