He could barely contain his anticipation as the featureless figure began to form the required handseals, slightly nervous and a tinge scared. Right before the last seal was woven the Chuunin suddenly realized that should the technique successfully snare him then how was he expected to break out of it? What if he couldn't and was trapped in his mind under an illusion of his own forever?! Before the panic and fear could truly settle in his opportunity was missed and he could feel a slight rumbling underneath his feet and his stomach turned at the what was forthcoming. With a crumbling the ground around him gave way and five wooden posts sped out, too fast to follow with his eyes, and immediately pierced him their respective targets.
Thankfully he felt no pain nor discomfort despite the wooden posts staking him right through his chest and limbs however he could feel something else, a sensation that was beginning to spread throughout his body. How could he describe it best? Perhaps it was most accurate to relate it to as liquid ice running through his veins. This was what paralysis was like eh? Not altogether an unpleasant feeling however as he tried to flex the fingers of his right hand it felt as if the ice in his veins solidified, hindering his effort to do so. As soon as he stopped flexing the feeling retreated, only to return when he attempted motor functions. The more he tried to move and/or change his position the harder it was to do so and as long as he kept still he wouldn't be affected.
Immediately he recognized it as a built-in feature of the technique. To keep an opponent constantly in a state of paralysis would require more chakra as opposed to only reinforcing a paralysis like effect should they move. This allowed it to restrain its victims to the maximum amount of time possible. And now it was time for him to try and find a way out of it himself. He resumed his attempts at moving again, this time trying to move his entire arm to be instantly stopped with paralysis in the limb. Undeterred he tried the other arm and when that failed he leaned forward with his chest while struggling to stand up straight, all at the same time. Of course his body was not keen on complying, his nervous signals sent to his muscles and limbs were effectively being neutralized before they could reach their target.
However as he kept it up the technique began to break down, his fingers were giving a slight flutter with each attempt and his body was shaking, fighting against their restraints as he kept trying to break out. The more he tried the quicker he found his body responding to his commands, within ten seconds he was able to move all his fingers, five seconds further in the liquid ice feeling inside his body began to disappear, replaced with the warmth of his regular vitae. Finally he wrenched back full control over himself as the Illusion broke and the stakes disappeared, leaving him to fall flat on his face given the way he was positioned. Strangely his body felt sore as well but nothing that would keep him down. And then he felt a painful bite that shattered his mindscape and brought him back to reality...
"Ow! Owowowow- F****** squirrel! I'll kill you!"
Sadly that was only wishful thinking as the squirrel outpaced him and soon disappeared into one of many off Leafs forests. Also he had to attend to his bite right away, lest the squirrel had rabies or something. While healing the bite wound the Kedoin tried to estimate how long the technique on the squirrel lasted. Inside his mindscape time flowed slower than in the real world, around twice as slow and by his count he had spend around 10 minutes in there. So it had taken twenty minutes, give or take, for the technique to wear off on a squirrel. But he had to take into account that the squirrel was just an animal, possessing of a very underdeveloped chakra system and lacked the higher brain functions necessary to fight off a technique like this. In other words he needed to test this technique on a human being to better gauge its effectiveness. The park would be a good place to start...
