Enter - Traveling Track
There was ash on her pale skin from helping to put out the fire. She was traveling again, to no place in particular, but she wasn’t traveling alone. The Kamyuja preferred company even if it was for a short while. The stranger, girl, named Lynette, had been preparing the evening meal, flames had leapt from the wood like arms reaching out to grab her and both of our figures leaped away from the hungry flames in unison. It was always like that. The wind simply plays with the flames and if you were too close, then you get burned. Amarantha leaned back and watched intently as the girl hovered the pot over the flames before allowing it to settle down on a metal base.
“And what is it this time child?”
Last time it was a nice mixture of Spanish rice and prawns. And surprisingly enough, it had tasted good. And for desert it was simple and fulfilling: a cheesecake tart. But now the smells coming from the makeshift stove smelt like Mustard. The Kamyuja already knew what was for desert, Layered Boysenberry Delight, some sort of yoghurt with cream. It looked nice anyway. She arched her back slightly before resting on her elbows, her legs straight out before her.
“Tonight we are having Mustard chicken with vegetables. Could you hand over two onions please?”
Amarantha did as ordered before looking into the boiling pot. Chicken with onions, celery sticks chopped into eatable chunks, carrots and mustard. Along with a bunch of other ingredients she had never heard or seen before. She nodded before falling back onto the ground again. Looking up at the stars she wondered where she would be heading to next. And with a sigh she would ask softly.
“What do you do with yourself child? You remind me of a gypsy.”
A giggle was the response and Amara leaned on her side, her head propped up by her right hand and she stared questionably. The girl’s thin shoulders jumped in reply. She had a smile upon her face but her gaze was bland. Amarantha knew that look. It was the look of a person in deep thought. The Kamyuja simply waited.
“I am free spirit. I travel, learn and can be whomever I want to be. Dinner is ready.”
As both females ate, she would wonder what happened to Lynette’s parents. But the question was never asked. And before long they were both sleeping. The child soundlessly, the Kamyuja, lightly. Every single sound woke her, and before long it was morning. A new day and a new travel. Amarantha gave a brief farewell to the child before leaving for her journey to wherever her feet may take her. She hadn’t even bothered to look at her new map yet.
Move to Ame no Kuni please?
