'Brrrr. It's cold' thought the female as she jogged between the trees. She was looking for a friend of hers that was living somewhere around here.
'I wonder why she chose to left in the first place. Maybe I can -'.

Her trail of thoughts were interrupted by her animal companions catching up to her. Marii shook her head a little bit...her friend would probably not answer that question. She was probably going to be accused for sticking her nose into private business.
'Pretty sure it was around here I met her the last time. That big tree over there looks familiar' thought the young woman upon seeing the big maple tree.

'Hm?' thought the female when she noticed her animal companions looking at something. That 'something' appeared to be a small group of butterflies that approached them.
'We're in the middle of January. This can't be normal' remembered Marii before looking down at her companions.

Shiori appeared to be vary while Daiki scanned the surroundings with his laser glare. It did not appear that this was a genjutsu...she would have noticed that. 'Doesn't look like anyone is near us. Neither Daiki-kun or Shiori-san has reacted in the way I've trained them for that' noticed the Raikage. She decided to follow the butterflies that were now circling around them.

A few minutes later, the trio arrived to a cave. The female pulled out her goggles while her biggest companion sat down on her shoulder. Her other companion had good enough dark vision to manage on her own.
'I don't like this dark place. Why couldn't she have met me in the bright daylight!?' wondered the brunette as she went into the cave.

Her heart was beating faster while a small lump was forming in her throat. Being scared of the dark when you were Raikage seemed like quite a contradiction really. Her fingers switched the goggles to night vision, allowing her to see just as good as her Havana brown cat. The young woman hoped that Kana was close.

Light spilled within he cave. Soon Kana appeared. A very different woman from the one who was Kage. Her silver hair was short in back yet long in front. She no longer wore eastern clothing. Blue silver and black clothes draped her figure. A star in a circle hung about her throat. "I'm sorry I did not come out to meet you. I had to care for some things." She smiled though it was guarded. "It has been many years Marii." She had no desire for contact with others. So why had she come? The cave was actually quite homey. They stood in a fashioned entry way with a stone slot for storing shoes and coat hooks. A close look at these would reveal both garments in Kana's size as well as children's sizes.

It seemed like the goggles would not be needed much longer. As the trio turned the corner, her animal companions both hissed. The female saw a familiar figure appear ahead of them.
But what had made Shiori and Daiki hiss like that? Was not the person in front of them Kana?

"What is it guys?" inquired Marii. "It's the darkness! It went away when we saw her!" replied her animal. She seemed to be uncomfortable, but the young woman could not blame her.
The Raikage carefully removed her goggles while mentally preparing her eyes for the light. She squinted a little as she tried to adjust her sensitive optics.

"I'm sorry I did not come out to meet you. I had to care for some things." informed the other woman. The female scanned her from top to toe to make sure it was really the woman she thought it was.
Her hairstyle was different for starters. It was much shorter in the back that in the front...it did not look that pretty.

Her clothes however were a bit prettier than she remembered. But one of the major changes was the fact that the former Raikage had not changed much age-wise. The person in front of her however had not made her own or her companions senses go into alert mode.
"It has been many years Marii." told the female. "It's only been two years really...but time has really flown by" replied the brunette.

She then noticed the cave they were in. It actually reminded her a bit of those makeshift homes you saw in some anime movies. But what caught her attention was the clothes that hang there.
Some of them were too small to fit her friend and had a childish pattern too. "I'm afraid I just have to start with some bad news that found place not too long ago" started the young woman.

"Kumogakure no Sato were attacked by outsiders for about a year ago. The past Raikage got killed during the funeral event as well. The village was in orange mode for quite some time" muttered Marii.
There was a dark look in her otherwise pale blue eyes. Her animal companions had the same expression in their eyes too.

"However...I got some good news too. There were none apart from our Raikage who got killed. I got promoted to Sannin after I saved some Academy students during the attack. Not to mention that there was a woman who got promoted to Chuunin too" informed the young woman. Her face now had a somewhat lighter expression than earlier.

"We got quite a brutal wake-up call during the failed invasion. Our villagers need to improve our skills as well as our knowledge in case of another attack" stated the Raikage.
"I know that you found out about some - ahem - unskilled people in our council. Not to mention that there is a safe I would like to get the code to" muttered the female.

"The reason why I want to know this is because I recently got promoted. To Raikage" finished the brunette. She glanced around to see if there were any children or listeners with them.
Her Havana brown cat was chasing a random firefly while her Coopers hawk was simply stretching his wings. What kind of answer would the silver-haired female give them?

"I know of the attack." She said simply. She did not know of Marii extending her senses, or that the thoughts would return nothing. Nor would she notice anyone else around. "I congratulate you on your promotions. To what safe are you referring however? I know nothing of safes within the village." She informed her. Butterflies twisted lazily around Kana. A small glasswing settled upon her head and remained there, undisturbed by any actions Kana took. "I have had reason to distance myself from the village, I know nothing of the current security measures." It all came back to this. Kana had fully removed herself from the village, with no intention of returning, and a desire not to be bothered.

"I know of the attack." stated the seemingly younger woman. 'Really now? How did you know that? I did not see you there or heard of anyone seeing you' pondered her inner.
This annoyed the female a little bit since her friend was a capable shinobi who could defend herself as well as the others.

"Wait a minute...my memory is picking up something" replied Marii with a sheepish smile on her face.

She replayed her memory of the day she read the passwords to the different locations. There was one space that had been left blank.
"I have had reason to distance myself from the village, I know nothing of the current security measures." said the other female with a calm voice. The Raikage noticed that a glass wing had settled on her head. The butterflies were surprisingly in a good mood despite the lack of light.

"I think what I'm lacking the password to is some scrolls with the Kumogakure raiton jutsus on it. But I would also like to know more about the council members who were steering us in the wrong direction.
I remember the old woman at that costume party right before my Jounin examination five years ago. However, I doubt that she is the only one" told the young woman.

It was not that the brunette was incapable of sniffing out ferrets. She had in fact a bad feeling in her stomach whenever she saw certain people. But the female had no idea if it was due to her clan heritage or her title.
Her parents alone had brought several people to justice or acted as spies for their village. Marii hoped that the former Raikage could shed some light on this.

"Thank you Kana" told the female with a low voice. She laid the paper inside a secret pocket in her - ahem - top underwear.
"Understand however, these are not to be passed to a successor lightly, do not give these to anyone else." warned Kana. "I won't" promised Marii.

She felt a bit frustrated that the other female could not name any of the offenders. But she respected her reasons; it took quite a bit to shake up her friend. 'Maybe it's about the engagement to her boyfriend' pondered the Raikage.
"May I ask you something? Could you please tell me who's the owner of those outfits?" inquired the female with a wry smile as she looked at the smaller clothes.

Her animal companions were resting a bit now. Daiki had sat down a bit while Shiori was stretching her slim body. 'I wonder...did she get pregnant with her fiancé's child? It's been about seven years since she left and those clothes aren't small enough for a toddler. Or maybe she has adopted someone?' wondered the brunette.

The woman in front of her pulled out a locket that she could exam. 'Hm?' thought the female as she received the item. She opened up the locket to see what was inside.
The piece of jewellery contained a photo of a girl who was around five or six years old. "Aurora." informed Kana.

'So I was right. The leave WAS probably something due to pregnancy' concluded Marii. But why would the other female hide her pregnancy if the father was (most likely) engaged to her?
"I am sure you will meet her in due time. I ask you please to treat her with the kindness and respect you have always shown others." requested the silver-haired female.

The young woman then noticed something. The former Raikage was BOWING. It had been quite a while since she had done that.
Maybe it was due to her status or possibly her pride as a person. Her animal companions had calmed down by now and was watching the duo.

"I - I am not sure if I'm capable of becoming a guardian for your child. But it is my duty to take part in the care system of Kumogakure no Sato. However, I would like to know what your plans for Aurora-san is" inquired the Raikage. Aurora would without a doubt be old enough to start her Academy career or a 'normal' non-shinobi school. Which was probably what her mother had planned...she was no idiot after all.

Drawback: The user may only learn this technique by the class that they are. This means that in order to learn the “C” Rank version they must be “C” Class, if they wish to learn the “B” Rank version they must be “B” Class.
Description: A technique where the subconscious mind, where the subconscious body reacts just as they are attacked while flanked or while their back is turn. The body reacts in such a way to where they are capable of withstanding so much. This technique makes it where the brawler is incapable of being surprised attacked, a sudden second sense kicks in as their body screams out to them yelling at them telling them to move, duck, dodge or anything else within that manner. If an opponent comes to a brawler at a bar, and attacks with a sword, or a club, the brawler gains the urge to dodge to the left, or to the right, where they are capable of reacting before the action is completed. This works on whenever they are being attacked. This technique however has a major flaw. The user is capable of dodging only whenever the opponent's class is equal or lower to that of the rank of the technique they know. This means that a “C” Class user that knows this technique can not use this against an opponent that is “C” Class or higher.
Limit: Must be a brawler.

If she comes to the village for any reason Marii... Please keep her safe." She implored.

"I'll do my best. It's a part of my duty after all" replied Marii with a calm voice.

Her communication device suddenly started to make some noise. "Excuse me for a minute" muttered the young woman as she pulled up the device. Her animal companions seemed to be aware of this too.
"Marii!? Can - hear me!?" shouted a familiar voice at the other end.

"Sort of. What is it?" inquired the Raikage. She heard it was her brother Ryota, but he had a rather nervous voice.
"Come to - hosp - tal! Kats - not good!" replied her brother. Her mind then tried to puzzle together the sentence.

Her eyes widened. 'Katsu! Something must have happened during that mission they were sent on!' realized the female.
"I'll get there as soon as I can. See you there" told the brunette before she laid away her device.

"Sorry...duty calls. It was nice speaking with you again Kana" said the young woman. She then exited the cave moments later with a paler skin tone than usual.
Daiki was flying above them while Shiori was running as fast as her four legs could carry her. 'This isn't good; hang in there Katsu!' thought Marii as she ran back towards the gates.
