Despite all of his reasoning the woman was too brainless to make sense of any of it. He let a low-pitched growl hum in his throat as he was instructed to shut up, though that was the full extent of his retaliation. Even if he continued to insult her, attack her, or even if he reported her to the authorities, she was either too stupid or stubborn to care in the slightest; there was a fair chance it was both. The woman was even careless enough to state the name of their ringleader, twice, with location included.
Kaius allowed his anger to escape him with a sigh, it was pitiful that she actually thought in the end she would be rewarded. Unless if death or public execution was what she had in mind. As the others left he would mutter.
"Well, I guess there was no point in trying to bargain or reason with halfwits."
Just barely the teen heard Ryota curse under his breath, his glance now turned in his direction. He seemed tense, full of worry; a little bit of thought and it struck him.
His name, Kaius had used his name carelessly and without thought in the heat of the moment. Sure enough he had attracted the attention of a few onlookers though they would not have heard anything incriminating, this did not mean that once Zelda and her bunch of fools were caught he would not be arrested for questioning.
"Don't do it,"
That came as a surprise to him, his eyes widened for just a moment in shock. Was he actually... concerned? Such behavior from Ryota was very unexpected.
"Don't help them. They are outlaws and morons; doomed to be another offhand paragraph in the book of history. Just let them die."
The shinobi averted his gaze elsewhere, his fists clenched in his pockets, he frowned. If only it were just that easy. He grit his teeth in frustration, the same emotion portrayed in his tone of voice. Kaius turned to face him, the fire of his determination burning brightly, channeled through his eyes. It was clear he had resolved himself to the task.
"I understand how foolish it is, a suicide mission, so go ahead and call me an idiot. Though Sunagakure... and everybody who lives here, they are both considered home and family to me; including those outlaws and morons. I can't turn my back on family, if I am doomed to execution I would rather die protecting them."
Ryota was also included, if anything happened to him Kaius would no longer be able to live with himself. He would not let his comrades die, never again.
"As much as I want to say I'll make it through this, using the same carefree and nonchalant grin you would expect of me, I cannot make promises I'm not sure I can keep."
He turned away from his shinobi partner.
"I'm sorry, Ryota."
His parting words, there would be no pledge to promise his return. With impartial steps he departed, quick to fade from view.[Exit]
