Room 20

Welcome to the Chuunin Exams, Participants. Within this room, Contestants 4 (Lady Jaz), 9 (The God Damn Otokage), and 15 (The Bearer of Bad News) all find themselves placed directly in the center of the room, each facing one of the three doors around the perimeter.

Jasmine is facing the north west door. The door itself is simple, save for the neon green writing all over it. There's no rhyme or reason to the writing. In some spots it's big, other spots it's small. It's written in all directions, but all of it says the same thing. "Open the Door"

Mayu is facing the south west door. This door is a simple revolving door, but it looks as though only one person is capable of moving through it at a time.

Schatzi is facing the north east door. This door is left slightly open, but not enough to really see what lies beyond it.

The two basic doors were made of wood with steel hinges while the revolving door was some sort of metal, though it was hard to tell what kind without the right skills.

The room shape itself is hard to describe as there is no distinct shape to it. It was similar to a rectangular shape, being longer from South west to North east, but on the North west and South east walls, the shape seems to extend a little in parts and retract a little in others. For the most part, the room was roughly 50 feet by 30 feet. The ceilings were around 20 feet high. The walls themselves were jagged, nowhere near being refined. The color was deep green marble filled with some kind of metallic filaments.

Also within the room were two bookcases on the northern wall. These bookcases were filled with books of various histories and other reference material. Some were in other languages, but none seemed to be of any value.

The most important thing was along the South East wall. The wall extended out a little, and a table that seemed to fit right in that little crevice contained two items and a large note. The note read "These are here to help you escape. You can work together or work separately, but the choice is yours. Within this room rests some beasts that will come out if you do not work quickly. The whistle here can calm them however. This key is one of many that will help open the door to the exit."

Sure enough, true to the note, there was a golden key and a small dog whistle. But there was no telling how long they'd have before these supposed beasts would arrive.

Finally, all three would notice one very important thing. All of their items were gone. Weapons, Gadgets, secondaries of all sorts just... gone. The only thing left on their person was apparel items, and all of them were completely empty of any significant items. Yoko, Jasmine's wolf was alongside her, but the others would find no items that they had brought with them.

Before more could happen, however, an intercom turned on and the following message was heard.

"Welcome Examinees, let's play a game. As you have noticed you are somewhere not familiar to you. Your exams start now. You have one test, and one test only. Escape. If you cannot escape you have failed the exams. You can use whatever skill, and whatever item to your disposal. We will be waiting for you at the entrance."

What was done next was up to the three within the room. Let the exams begin.

A Game Master may roll an Observation skill check for a Character any time there is an NPC, monster, event or happening that a character might notice, even if he did not specifically state that he is monitoring his surroundings. Characters are capable of noticing any event within their perception. Observation reveals only facts, not motivation. Each time learned user gets 1 die roll to increase the skill. If you are Schooled in Anthropology you gain a +10% synergy bonus with Observation checks that involve noticing disguise checks.

When Schatzi came to, she was utterly naked barring her three crossed belts. Her illusion must have worn off. Likely a shock for whoever had to handle her. Funny. The exams staff had confiscated all of her weapons and items, even her boots. Even her cigarettes! Damn, she really wanted one right now too. Addiction was a pain, but it kept the urge to eat everyone around her at bay. And she wasn't the first one awake either. Which meant she had been seen in this state.

If that was the case, no point in forming a new uniform. It wouldn't do the reveal her abilities prematurely. The Ultimate Fiend's tail traced agitated circles in the air while she rose to her feet. Feline ears twitched, listening to their surroundings for a moment while she took note of her companions. One of which was a dog. Fabulous. She'd have to give that one a wide berth. Natural enemy as it was, its very presence made her uneasy. The pink-haired one with the giant boobs was already up and about, and a bit more showy in her irritation. That was fine. Ultimately she was prey, after all. Better to show the weak points now.

But the Takigakure Nekoshou had no intentions of starting a fight. Not yet. Not before she was certain these others couldn't keep her amused, and that she was physically capable of slaying them. Without her knives, it wasn't likely. So then, to charm them. She smiled wide, her mouth in the shape of a curvy "w". This was one of the parts she enjoyed.

And there was a note. Pinky pointed it out, so Schatzi stalked up from behind and planted her chin on the taller woman's shoulder. She had to stand on the tips of her toes to do so, but that was fine. She could read the note from here, as well as fondle the dear radish's "assets". Purely an act of appraisal, but one which made he hips wiggle involuntarily with amusement.

"Nya...cooperation seems to be the easiest way, judging from the note. Multiple doors, multiple keys. Probably we have to follow all three, and find keys to use in other halls. The issue comes in moving them quickly between hallways, since there's some kind of time limit. Unless sweet Pinky could kill the mysterious beast for us?" Her expression, if any could see it, would become much more sinister for the briefest moment, a tell with regards to the darkness roiling beneath the bubbly surface. "I'm curious what it tastes like."

A brief shift jerked me awake. My body rolled to the right before landing onto a smaller figure which was midnight in colour. Warm fur brushed against my neck and right cheek before muscle rippled and the figure moved. Yoko’s body jerked upon my body landing upon his and a low growl escaped his throat. “Sorry..” I muttered, shaking my head and rubbing my eyes. Yoko was on his feet by then, moving around and sniffing me thoroughly.

My mauve gaze scanned the room intently, but I suddenly felt lighter despite the blue kimono and sandals I wore. I also had my bags strapped to my sides and back but the problem was they were empty! “What the hell?!” I exclaim, climbing to my feet and taking in the sight of two other females. Two women whom I didn’t know the names of. A woman easily in her twenties with long pink hair and a large bosom, and another kunoichi much younger in appearance with feline characteristics. One of whom was also naked. Interesting.

But when the pink haired woman spoke, it was a whispered sound. Nonetheless, I approach the desk where she had indicated and picked up the items. The whistle in my hand made sense at the woman’s second statement. My gaze shifted to Yoko. The wolf was sniffing the two women. “Yoko.” I muttered softly before shoving the key and whistle into the butt bag strapped to my right side. When the pink haired woman spoke again, she opted for working together, at least for now. I was all for the idea despite not knowing either of them.

“I do think working together will help considering we are without weapons or any idea of what is going on.” I said quietly, my eyes scanning the note provided. “Also, for the record I’m Jasmine, and this is Yoko.” I said, folding my arms across my chest while watching the two kunoichi standing near me. The three doors were located in separate sections of the room while two looked rather plain and the third being a revolver. I had no idea what kind of door that was, but judging from the note whatever was on the other side was not something I wanted to encounter.

“So what door do we take?” I then asked after a few minutes pause.

OOC: Few things to note. First is a 48 Hour IIC. Let's try to keep this moving as quickly as possible. Posting order has now been established in order of Mayu, Schatzi, and then Jasmine. You do not need to wait for me to make a confirmation that someone has been skipped. If they go past the time, you're free to post. If you have any issues in the thread, I do ask that you make an OOC post just stating that you've contacted the examiner so that way you aren't skipped. And in the event that something happens and you're going to be gone for whatever reason, let me know and we can see what we can work out.

Jasmine, Mayu had already taken the whistle and the key and pocketed them, so you would not be able to do the same. As it is now, Mayu has both items, but the note was left on the table.

Schatzi, the fondling skill isn't used in the manner that you are trying. It's used to tell the value of an item just by holding it, not by fondling another person, therefore no skill check was done.

IC: Mayu's observation skills wouldn't reveal anything extra. There wasn't any out of place sounds, or really much of any sound at all. And she wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Just the items initially stated.

Nothing seemed to happen at this point however. Perhaps they were just given some sort of a safe room where they could discuss a plan of attack. After all, with three doors to choose from, and complete strangers being forced to work together, it could take some time to plan things out to a point where everyone was satisfied with what they were doing.

"Well aren't we pushy, F-Cup? Nyahaha~ I'm Schatzi," Schatzi laughed. A little bit of pain just made things more exciting. Still, this was probably one of those rare times where she should be serious. She'd been separated from her Master. First priority was to get her back. For that she needed paper. Lots of paper. Paper that wasn't marked up with writing already like these books. It had to be blank. Wait, maybe one of them WAS blank?

She examined a few of the books on the shelf while the others decided things amongst themselves. Mayu decided to give her door a spin and shunshin away. She was getting better at following those, visually, but still wasn't able to follow a shunshin physically and counter it. Probably some work in that regard was appropriate.

If any blank pages within the dimensions of eight inches by twelve inches or larger presented themselves or not, she would copy Mayu's tactic, to a degree, though if they did she would pocket them in one of her belts - the only things she was wearing - first. It was smart to shunshin out of the way if you didn't know what would happen. Any or all of the doors could be trapped, and hers was the only one totally closed. She'd seen mechanisms reliant on the act of opening a door to trigger, so there was a strong chance that was the trapped one if any were.

Approaching her door, she closed her eyes to send a fragment of her soul into the future to watch for danger. It would last a few minutes at least. Then she would move to open her door, leaving the cherry-headed genin and her pet monster to their own. If the Doom Ward's alarm sounded in her mind however, she would intentionally trigger any trap and shunshin backward away from the danger [1|5] and instead move toward the remaining door along with Jasmine and Yoko. The rapid movement was just a cover. She would probably heal off any damage if she just took the brunt of the trap anyway. It simply wouldn't do for them to know any of her abilities just yet. Well, technically that included shunshin, but that was such a ubiquitous thing anyway. Almost nobody couldn't do that much at least.

Doom Ward

Effect: The user's soul stands 1 step into the future and warns them of danger to come.

Drawback: User may have this technique active on one creature at a time unless they continue training into it.
Description: Target is 1 Creature. Range is Personal or Touch. Duration is 5 minutes per Class Level. This technique grants the user a powerful "sixth sense" in relation to themselves or another. Once this technique is performed they receive instantaneous warnings of impending danger or harm to the subject of the technique. the technique gives the user a general idea of what action they might take to best protect themselves unless the opponent is restricted from movement. When another target is the subject of the technique the user will receive warnings about the target. The user must communicate what they have learned to the target for the warning in order for it to be useful, and the target can be caught unprepared in the absence of such a warning. The target must also be within the same "Thread" as the user in order for this technique to work. At first the user may only have this performed one at a time, however if the user continues to further train into the technique they may increase the number per time of learning. If the user learns the continuous training 4 times they are able perform this technique on a total of 5 targets including themselves.

So the large busted woman was called Mayu, while the cat kunoichi was Schatzi. The remarks shared between the pair amused me briefly but I remain quiet. No use getting into a fight five minutes into the exams, right? Yoko however, gave out a little scoff-like snort at Mayu’s words but moved around me and stared at the door I had awoken to. And as if reading the wolf’s mind, Mayu spoke up about traps. Good point, these are the chuunin exams. The possibility of traps were always present.

Positioning himself to my left closer toward the wall, Yoko stood at least ninety five centimetres away from the door and fifty centimetres to the left of it. This positioned him right beside the door on the left hand side, head low, muzzle working for any scents that may or may not be lingering around near the door, and tail very still. Should there be a scent lingering near the door, Yoko will alert the two females besides myself with a low growl. If not, he remained silent and watchful. I stood exactly a meter away from the door, anxiously sizing it up. However, the moment Mayu and Schatzi opened their doors, I too gripped the handle of mine and yanked it back, body-flickering back [1|4] exactly a second after the door swung open.

Description: The creature can detect opponents within 10-meters by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 20-meters; if downwind, it drops to 5-meters. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at x2 the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk, can be detected at x3 normal range. When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a movement to note the direction of the scent. Mayu: Once again, your observations revealed nothing. Just the revolving door, metal in entirety and only big enough to fit one person, just barely at that. As it spun, nothing special would happen. It would just keep spinning and spinning until friction would finally cause it to slow down and stop.

Schatzi: Your search regarding the bookshelves led to nothing. All of them had writing on it, leaving nothing for you to actually take as paper to aid you. From there, moving to the door, your Doom ward wouldn't reveal anything coming from it as there was nothing to harm you from this door. However, it did show something about to appear behind you. Whether you choose to open the door or not would be up to you, but at least you knew nothing would come to hurt you from it. (Also, in my post, I stated that the door you're at is already slightly open. You stated the opposite. Just letting you know. And since I put something alerting you from behind, I left it as though you didn't actually move to open the door all the way.)

Jasmine: Yoko's scent wouldn't reveal anything around the door for there was nothing special. And opening it wouldn't set anything off. Perhaps this wasn't as trap filled as you were all thinking? After all... This door was literally telling you to "Open the Door". And beyond that, there wasn't even anything special. Just a corridor that seemed to lead out of the room. But before you could investigate, something else happened within the room.

The ceiling to the room would open up as three dogs would drop down into the middle of the room. After they recomposed themselves, realizing where they were, they split up. One went after each of you, barking and looking quite vicious. After all, you did receive a dog whistle and told that it would help with the beings in this room. Good thing you weren't still standing in the middle or they would have dropped right on top of you.

Mayu was the first to take charge, calling for a hasty escape from the hounds which descended from above. Schatzi had advance warning from her Doom Ward that trouble would come from that direction however, and was already forming hand seals. Her appearance would seem to flicker for a moment as she vanished from all sense of sight, sound, temperature, and scent. Touch was still a viable method of locating her, and perhaps if a touch was performed with one's tongue they might taste her, but such a state would only last for an instant as far as Mayu and Jasmine would be aware. The canines as well most likely.

This was because she immediately rent her soul in two halves, dividing it's energy between them. The body that instantaneously formed would be only a few feet wrong from the invisible original's point, giving the impression of a short-range shunshin following a justu whose effects were not plain to see. This body which was a perfect replica of the original's current shape would all but dive through Jasmine's door following her if she chose to follow through with Mayu's order, while forming a brief set of handseals of its own.

Mentally targeting both instances of herself, Jasmine, Yoko, and Mayu all, the two enchantments she wove would alter their brain chemistry and their very belief in their own capabilities, granting not only the state of mind but the actual capabilities of moving much faster than normal, and shrugging off otherwise damaging attacks more easily, though it would only last a short time - a little over three-fourths of a minute. More than enough to flee, or fight as needed. In the event escape was impossible, they would be in a much better position of attack and defense. Also if the beasts had to die, she wanted to eat them, but that was a minor point all said.

Meanwhile the invisible instance of Schatzi's batlike wings would flare out from inside her shoulders. Ordinarily there would be a dramatic poofing sound to accompany this, but due to the illusion around her it would be utterly silent. With occasional flapping to steady herself in the air, she took flight, relying more on the augmenting magic that had placed those wings on her than on her physical strength. She would stay close to the ceiling and cross the room to Mayu's spinning doorway, and drop down to squeeze her way inside the chambers, folding her wings or even returning them to their hidden state as necessary. There was more benefit to exploring multiple routes simultaneously then sticking to only one path, since the option existed.

If they were forced to engage, then her usefulness even split would be severely limited for the next few seconds, only able to grant one last boon, and only to a single target.

Description: Affects 1 object that is 500 lbs per Class Level. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 hours per class level. This technique may be negated. This powerful Glamour functions like Invisibility, except that it masks image, scent, and sound alike, concealing the subject from all senses except touch and taste. As with Greater Invisibility, this Jutsu does not end if the subject attacks. While invisible, the subject exudes no scent and radiates a silence that absorbs all sound and vibration in a 2-meter radius, preventing detection by Tremorsense and similar abilities, as well as preventing speech and performing of Jutsus with Vocal usage (though the subject remains able to detect scent and can hear as normal). Superior Invisibility renders the recipient immune to detection by See Invisibility, and other forms that would make someone see including Blindesense, though creatures under the effect of the Jutsu can be detected by True Seeing.

Soul Split

Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: User can make a clone of themselves that can act independent of themselves.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Target is Personal. Range is Personal. Duration is 5 hours per Class Level. With a great show of will the user rips their soul in half effectively making a copy of themselves. By performing this Jutsu the user makes a full size copy of themselves. This copy is the user as much as the user is its copy. The user takes their chakra and splits it in half. This means that the user must now work with half of their energy, and half of the capabilities when dealing with Soulcaster techniques. All the user's other abilities and skills stay the same. At any time 1 of the copies can dismiss the other no matter what the range. If one is dismissed or if they are killed it does not bring back the chakra or energy, however the user will know. If one of the copies is killed the other copy is stunned for 1 round. If dismissed or killed any extra items they are carrying drops to the ground as the copy vanishes.

Opening my door only revealed a long hall that lead out of this room. Beyond that I wasn’t able to spot anything. However, as the ceiling gave way and a group of dogs fell into the room, Mayu had already burst in through my door, yelling at us to do the same. Without waiting a second longer, I ran in through the door, Yoko a second ahead of me, his claws scratching the ground as he moved through. My eyes continued to watch the wolf, however. Mayu was blowing the whistle she had acquired earlier on, but would it have an effect on Yoko since he was a canine?

OOC: Mayu, posting at this time was unnecessary as you'll see in my post. I've been waiting for one of the other examiners to make your new thread as you are leaving Room 20 and going elsewhere. But I'll give you a response to what happened now while I wait for the other examiner to make your new thread.

IC: The dog whistle did the trick. It appeared the note did not lie to the participants. The dogs heard the whistle and just seemed to slow in their tracks before stopping where they were and sitting on the ground. They no longer seemed hostile. It would give a calming effect over Jasmine's wolf as well, but the whistle was designed specifically for those dogs. As such, when the whistle would stop being blown, Jasmine's wolf would not feel any adverse effects and the dogs in the Room that Mayu, Jasmine, and Schatzi were leaving.

When they went through the door, the door itself still offered no problem. It just said "Open the Door" on both sides. Perhaps just a door to trick others into thinking it was a trap? It was hard to say. For now, they'd have to continue on.

OOC: I missed Schatzi's Soul Split that went into a different door than the rest, so here you go...

IC: While the others managed to get through Room 20 into Corridor L, the remaining invisible Schatzi would easily glide through the room. The dogs sat there docile, not doing much other than panting and looking rather dumb. The door itself posed no threat and as you went through the revolving door, you would enter another room on the other side.

Junko waited and, watched. She was willing to give them a chance. Oh but, how long would it take. To her knowledge there were no signs of anything odd in the corridor. If there was it would have presented itself.

It was a long shot but, Minh was getting very restless. She gave it a while longer before moving on with her intentions. "I'm trying the door." she announced shortly.

Then with a strong grip of the handle she would turn the handle. In that sense the door should open revealing the next room as Junko would stepped in without a care. Lets see what will happen now...

The corridor had proven to be of little danger to them, all the noises and antics were distractions and games played by the chuunin examiners, his entrance to the next room uneventful after the younger female had pushed forward to test the theory. With the door open he'd made his way into another room, and so far nothing looked too exceptional. The room had been used before though. He made his way forward and began to scan the room for anything obvious to guide them further.

As the two would enter the room, the would find the door would offer no resistance. However, their quick entry would allow for the simple and non-harmful trap to be released. The ceiling on both sides of the door would open up quietly as a liquid of some sort poured out. It would be difficult to dodge, considering there wasn't much in the way of detection unless they were looking up. But if the liquid were to hit them, or not, they would notice that it did not burn or hurt them in any way. All it did... Was stink. It was pure skunk oil. The stench would fill the room and the corridor they had just come from.

Inside the room, three dogs were sitting there, now considerably disturbed as the stench filled the room. They started whining a little at the stench, but overall didn't do anything other than look at those that entered. They looked completely calm, a result of the dog whistle that had been used previously (Unknown to those that just entered)

The two other doors could be seen as well. A revolving metal door almost directly in front of them and another door slightly toward their right that had the words "Open the Door" plastered all over it. The table that once held items merely had a note that explained what was once there but is not there any longer. (Again, look at the first post for descriptions of other items in the room and what the note says)

Nothing seemed like it was ready to attack, even the dogs that were in the room. But the stench would linger for quite some time, including if it got on those who entered the room.

Entering last, after crawling through that annoying corridor, Tora simply sighed as he walked into the room, examining it and looking around. Looking at the door with the sign Tora raised a brow. "If it's as dumb as it was so far, all we have to do is open this damn door and we're out." He said as he walked to the table, reading the note and looking for the items that were clearly gone. The dogs, who seemed calm must have been the beasts the note spoke of, and someone had already calmed them.

They were not there first and it seemed like someone had already passed this test before them. "What's up examiner? Recycling?" He asked as he looked at the two others. He smiled at the female and looked into her eyes. "You've been risking it, wanna open that door too?"

After taking a chance to explore the room, Kenshin came to stand next to the young shinobi he had been with for the majority of the exams. Both standing at the table to exam what had originally been placed there. The room had been used before, so they had been where others had been already. "So we're not the first. I doubt the exit lay in this room, but I might have an idea." The Venator placed himself in the center of the room and activated his minds eye, his vision trying to keep focus on the animals in the room too. With a two hundred meter view he should be able to find something.

Effect: The basic technique needed in order to learn all Sensor Techniques.

Description: The basic yet complex ability that allows Sensor's to find, sense, and track individuals over a vast range. This ability is done by the user closing their eyes and opening their mind's eye in order to see the advanced chakra systems around them. At A rank and above, Sensors no longer need to close their eyes in order to access their mind's eye. The user of this jutsu can only sense those up to the equivalent class rank of the rank they know. (i.e. If the user knows up to B rank in this jutsu they can sense characters of all the way from D to B rank. The basic range of this technique is ten meters.
Limit: Must fulfill all requirements to become Sensor in order to learn this

Mind’s Eye Extension

Effect: A technique used to increase the range of Mind’s Eye of the Kagura.
Special: ---
Drawback: --
Description: This technique is passively used to increase the distance of Mind’s Eye of the Kagura. At D rank this extends the maximum range of the technique to twenty-five. At every rank after D the distance will double until reaching a maximum range of two hundred meters.
Limit: Must know Mind’s Eye of Kagura.
