Corridor L

Corridor L was nearly L-shaped. Its halls were were about three meters across.

The Southern section that stretched from East to West was about nine meters long. The Western end curved Northward.

The long corridor from North to South stretched out at about twenty meters.

There were no significant characteristics in this corridor. The metallic green stone still made up the walls, ceiling, and floor.

Those that came out from the North end of room 20 now found themselves at the Southeastern end of the corridor. Ahead, they could see the path turning right to the North.

Description: A failed check indicates that the character is oblivious until the thing is pointed out to him. This skill is important for ferreting out advancing enemies or ambushes, generally real-time events and actions occurring, versus scrutiny, which covers static objects or areas. A Game Master may roll an Observation skill check for a Character any time there is an NPC, monster, event or happening that a character might notice, even if he did not specifically state that he is monitoring his surroundings. Characters are capable of noticing any event within their perception. Observation reveals only facts, not motivation. Each time learned user gets 1 die roll to increase the skill. If you are Schooled in Anthropology you gain a +10% synergy bonus with Observation checks that involve noticing disguise checks.

"Nyaha...cat's out of the bag then," Schatzi laughed, sliding up close to the overly - and entirely justified - cautious Mayu. Absolutely no respect for personal space. She poked their aggressive leader lightly in the side before skittering over to Jasmine. Still avoiding Yoko though. "Ya got me. No promises though, o fearless leader~"

She wasn't concerned with anything right now, so she felt free to entertain herself in her own way. The hall was bare of anything notable for now, and her Doom Ward was still active, which would allow her to predict any inbound danger. Reacting to it's prompts wasn't foolproof, but warning that something would happen and where it would be coming from was better than nothing. Because of that, traps weren't on her top list of worries. That was a space reserved for her companions. Especially the hairy one. She embraced the ginger from behind, her height shifting subtly to the perfect level to place her chin atop the girl's shoulder. "And how do you feel, Sweet Cherry~?"

Though just in case the next door or passage or...whatever else they might need to do was hidden in such a way as to be impenetrable to mundane means, she twisted her soul energy internally as the group moved forward into the corridor, granting her sight capable of piercing unnatural deceptions.

If nothing in the curved path stood out to anyone, they would naturally have to turn the corner, beyond which they presently could not see. With any luck, things would be more interesting over there.

Further, the subject can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extradimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 40 meters. True seeing, however, does not penetrate solid objects. It in no way confers X-ray vision or its equivalent. It does not negate concealment, including that caused by fog and the like. True seeing does not help the viewer see through mundane disguises, spot creatures who are simply hiding, or notice secret doors hidden by mundane means. In addition, the Jutsu effects cannot be further enhanced with known Chakra.

Neither participants noticed anything in the corridor.

They were able to proceed forward.

However, at nearly the same time, both participants heard a pair of clicks as they stepped on pressure plates hidden in the floor.

Indeed should it become apparent even part way through her body flicker that continuing in her forward arc would be dangerous she would employ her dash capabilities, courtesy of her boxing skills, to rapidly change her direction as needed mid-way through the motion.

Even as she moved though she doubted that would be the case. A trap was one thing but she had her doubts that further traps would await down the hall. Not that she would stake her life on that. Far better to err on the side of caution after all. But perhaps if she ran like hell she could make it to whatever laid at the end of the hallway in one piece. Her assumption was of course another door. The only truth she would cling to was that she wanted to get out of this place in one piece, and she wanted to punch whoever took her blades away.[/ul][/font]

Mayu took off with great speed rather suddenly, so a mechanism she assumed was a trap must have been triggered. No big deal, since Schatzi's doom ward had yet to offer any warnings if any trap WAS activated it would be no danger to herself. Her companions of the moment may very well be affected, but that was an inconsequential thing. She continued her stride unconcerned, although she watched the walls with interest. Perhaps there was no trap at all, and they had revealed some additional path to explore. Or it existed solely to tweak the paranoia ingrained into every ninja for the sake of survival, luring them into a much quieter and more cunning trap.

The best option the shapeshifter had was to ignore it. Most likely any damage she did receive would be healed off shortly anyway.

As the Otokage dashed around the corner, several more clicks were heard going off on her path. A new pressure plate clicked at nearly every other step.

After the instant movement, the Otokage saw a door ahead with what appeared to be a massive red smile. It had some resemblance to the face of a clown. The door was made from a white metal, and it's door knob was much like a flower.

Shatzi continued ahead. She also set off a few pressure plates as she went.

At the moment, it didn't appear as if the pressure plates did anything.

Entering into another room didn’t trigger anything. Instead it looked more like the letter L. A quick glance around the interior told me it was at least three meters wide and perhaps triple that in length while it curved at the end while the flooring, walls and ceiling were of a horrible green coloured stone. Yoko moved off first, staying at least half a meter in front of me. I was taking up the rear, following after Mayu and Schatzi.

Well that was until the cat kinoichi decided to drift around me. “Fine, thanks. What about you, kitty?” I said softly, my voice barely a whisper. A warning growl rumbled within Yoko’s throat as he watched her. Despite being a wolf, he was not bothered by cats of any kind, human or actual feline. But he was bothered with the attention they drew from Jasmine when she interacted with them. But little did Yoko know, Jasmine was not fond of cats. But as we continued forward a faint clicking sounds alerted me.

Yoko’s gaze went straight to the flooring surrounding both Mayu and Schatzi. What was that?! Mayu darted down the hall immediately while the smaller kunoichi simply continued to walk down the hall. However, during the time of the first click, I had darted forward with my own shunshin [2|3] and reappeared right at the junction where the corner was forming (assuming), Yoko had simply ran down the hall in his pursuit of me, thus leaving Schatzi alone.

Mayu was between the corner and a weird looking door which had a flower for a knob and a large smile. The first thought I had was clown, but was the large busted woman going to open the door before the rest of us reached her? By the time I had finished my observations, Yoko would have reached my position and was staring back at Schatzi. Both Yoko and I were now roughly two and a half meters away from Mayu and at least six meters away from an approaching Schatzi.

Jasmine, your most recent post in this thread is currently considered void. Please make an additional post after Monster Cat posts.

Also, to maintain IIC penalties, please make sure that you do not take any actions that may have taken place during the previous two rounds. During those rounds, your actions should boil down to 'observing motionlessly and silently'.

Schatzi followed casually after Mayu, between her and Jasmine (and the mutt). So far nothing had actually happened, confirming the suspicion her Doom Ward not activating proffered: the "trapped" floor was just a fake-out. if there was a trap at all, it was likely to be part of Mayu's clowny door. Sure she could step ahead of the woman and take the brunt of any assault, but why? better to let the chesty one use her mammaries as a meat shield since she was so willing to take charge.

Schatzi didn't mind the other woman asserting control though. As much as she enjoyed her own manipulations, she was a follower at heart. Well, that was fine too. Mayu seemed well used to leadership, so there wasn't likely to be any issue with following her commands for now. If there was a conflict of interest, the shapeshifter could always just kill her later.

If the clown door was successfully opened and neither trap nor mechanism revealed itself to her enhanced sight in the meantime, there would be little choice but to follow it through to the other side, whatever might lay beyond.

Seeing that we had all rounded the corner without that much difficulty, with the pressure plates not activating anything harmful, I remain at the back of the group, trailing at least fifty centimetres away from Schatzi, standing just to the kunoichi’s left while still keeping a watchful eye on what was happening behind the group. If was obvious that Mayu wanted to take charge, she seemed to have an air of confidence about her and she seemed to know what she was doing.

Yoko moved quietly to my right, his body remaining at least thirty centimetres away from Schatzi’s right also. It seemed as if he had guessed that the neko kunoichi was uncomfortable around him. Personally, the quicker we are out of this group the better. Mayu gingerly tried the clown-looking door before us, moving on light feet. Just what kind of door was it and was it unlocked and willing to lead us into our freedom?

The pressure plates continued to have no affect, no matter how many were stepped on by the trio. As many as four dozen had been set off altogether.

As the participants approached the clown door, a voice spoke from the mouth of the door.

"Who's theeeere?" The last word was stretched in a playful way, but a hint of growling menace was layered beneath the short question.

Small wonder Mayu was so used to taking command. She ran a whole village, just like Master Rosie. Schatzi thought about that for a moment.

...Maybe she should kill the woman. That would be sure to see approval from her Master. But right now there was no telling what could happen. And if by chance he moment should come when the otokage's life hung in the balance...Schatzi could save it easily enough. And then a debt would be owed. The shapeshifter was ultimately a loyal beast, but not above forging personal alliances for her own benefit. As for the talking door, it was creepy and she didn't like it at all. She stayed well back for now, but also answered the query, in case it wanted a response from them all.

"I am who I am. Just Schatzi is simplest."

Having ignored the pressure plates, Yoko and I remained still. Since the others didn’t seem to panic about the plates, I assumed that they were only there to scare us, or at least keep us on our toes. Torture us before killing us, so-to-speak. So the door wanted to start a conversation? And Mayu was actually the Otokage? Figures, no wonder she was so bossy and leader-like. Standing virtually beside Schatzi now, I peer over the Otokage and stare at the mouth of the door. “Jas and Yoko.” I say, anxious to see what will happen now that the door knew our names and statuses.

When the door spoke again, it sounded as if three separate voices spoke in unison. Everything the participants said was returned to them.

"I'm the god damn Otokage. Who the hell are you?"

"I am who I am. Just Schatzi is simplest."

"Jas and Yoko."

Following its repetition, a word was spoken in a singular voice, "... who?"
