[The Bearer of Bad News]

Frustrating door. Questions asked and answered. It replied with all of their own words, and repeated the initial query. A puzzle. Schatzi hated puzzles. Frustrated, she fired a brightly colored beam from her hand directly into the clown's face from point blank range. If the door was inhabited by some spirit rather than being a mechanical construct, it would feel the burning sting of her displeasure. If it was a purely mundane device, she lacked the necessary tools to break it down by force.

"Who's asking?" would be her retort either way.

Mayu would backtrack, but Shatzi had no intention of moving backwards unless asked to join. She would rather try to figure out this door, which parroted their own words. Perhaps that was part of the solution. But it would bear testing.

Now that was weird. The door replied, yes but when it spoke my voice along with Mayu and Schatzi’s were mimicked and repeated in the same tone, sound and way as we all had spoken. So it was a door that decided to play games. Great, at this case we will not be getting through. But when Mayu stated that the items she had gathered when we woke up were missing. My attention shifted from the door to her. “Missing? But they were in your pocket. You sure they didn’t fall out or something?” I ask, the tone of my voice was slightly annoyed but I was more curious than anything.

As the Otokage left the area to investigate the other room, I turn my attention back to the door while Schatzi retorted to the door’s reply. Folding my arms across my chest, I step forward to the left of Schatzi and position myself directly in front of the door at least fifty centimetres away. “What’s your name?” I ask, keeping my tone neutral. Yoko growled from his position one meter away. I thought about grabbing the flower-like knob and giving it a twist, but what if it squirted poison? “You know our names, is it not fair that we don’t know yours?” I ask, giving the door a sweet smile.

Mayu may return to Room 20.

There is nothing to observe in the corridor, besides the many pressure plates that were now obvious since most had been stepped on.

"Not funny." The door said to the two who remained in front of it.

Suddenly, a stream of flame blew out from the flower-shaped doorknob of the clown door. The flames stretched two meters away from the knob, and was wide enough to consume most of the area in front of it.

Those who didn't react fast enough to avoid the flames would find themselves with minor wounds in the form of burns.

Schatzi wasn't taken by surprise when the door engulfed her in fiery doom, since her Doom Ward remained active, but did not avoid it and gave a yelp of false surprise. As far as pain went it was minor compared to things she'd done to herself in the throes of passion. In fact, she barely felt it at all given her natural resilience against fire. It wouldn't be long before the wounds healed as though they were never there to begin with anyway. She still grumbled in displeasure, wincing when she stepped toward the door after its fiery tantrum was finished. Even if the fire itself didn't hurt much, the burns it left on her skin were tender.

"Not funny? You want to laugh, clown? I can work with that."

She rapped firmly upon the door's surface, awaiting the expected reply of "who's there?". If it came, her answer would be short, simplistic...and leading.

"Cows go."

Now with Mayu gone, I listened as the door grew irritated. Instinctively, I took a few steps back so that I was roughly a meter away from the door. But this time, it actually said something that wasn’t what any of us had said. But it also spewed out a gout of fire as well. Flames caked my front which caused me to cry out and scuttle backward, yet Schatzi remained as she was, stone hard and not whimpering like I was. Yoko had been somewhat behind the kunoichi and had only suffered minor burns, but he was still whimpering a few minutes after they cleared.

“Hey! We were not nasty toward you! Why spray us with fire?!” I snap, awkwardly standing up but making sure I remained exactly two meters away from it. My body ached and was red in various places. Since I didn’t have any water on me, or a medic nearby, I would be forced to put up with the pains until these exams were over, or until I was dead. Beside me, Yoko was whimpering and licking his frontal legs, the areas where he was burnt the most. I turn my head and stared at him, my expression emphatic. “You okay, boy?” I ask, my tone low and quiet.

An angry Schatzi had approached the door by then and was rapping on it. Personally, I was amazed at how strong she truly was. I mean, she never flinched as the flames touched her at all. “Schatzi, are you able to kick it down? I do not think it will open for us.” I said, taking a small step closer so that I could exchange the question in a hushed tone. I didn’t want the door to overhear, especially after it assaulted us like that. Where was my shield when I needed it?

As expected by Schatzi, the door replied with its usual script. After its 'who's there' was answered, it replied to Schatzi's newest line.

"Cows go, who?"

"Er...probably not, really. Physical strength isn't one of my better qualities. I'm going to tell it a joke, see if that works. It did say 'not funny' after all."

And then came the voice once more. Excellent. The door was behaving in just the manner she had hoped. Here's hoping her joke was a knockout. It was actually sort of lame, in a way, but in her mind that was part of the humor. "Cows go who?" Heh.

"No silly, cows go MOO."

If necessary, she was sure she could shrug off another belch of flame and come up with another knock-knock joke, but it would be better to finish up faster if at all possible.

Nope, the door wasn’t exactly cooperative. After repeating Schatzi’s words, my agitation was growing more insistent. The smaller kunoichi said she would not be able to kick down the door, but was going to try and out-joke it instead. Inwardly I groaned, if only I had my shied! At the moment I was forced to do nothing since my weapons were removed. And believe me, I hated feeling and being useless! But when she responded to the door, I could not help but to grin. “Cows fart and burp a lot too!” I exclaimed in a shrill tone. I was not a funny person, my sense of humor was as dry as sand. But I did have another idea in mind, but first we will see if the door will be… cooperative this time.

The door was still for a long while.

There were undecipherable murmurs coming from behind it. There were long hums, constant buzzes, and clicks here and there.

Then, finally, the door spoke out again.

"Ha. Haha."

The door swung open without another incident. What awaited on the other side was a lone girl standing by the door. In the background, there was the silhouette of an emerald dragon.

There was something coming towards them that triggered a sense of danger from the doom ward technique. A bolt of fire flew right toward Schatzi, having originated from the girl on the other side of the door.

The participants could proceed into room 19.

Maasaa made his way through the door after the fire bolt flew through. He walked calmly and cautiously into the room. Ahead there were two other participants, no one he recognized. It was interesting to meet other participants it seemed to confirm that this place was all one big maze they were trapped in. He hoped to get some answers from them before they went into the room Maasaa had come from.

"Hi there. I'm Maasaa, did you guys explore the end of this hallway? Is there another door down there? Traps to watch out for?" Looking back he remembered the fake dragon that they would likely see. "The dragon in that room is a fake. Half of the group went down the other door." Maasaa wanted to venture forth but having info was more important right now. Better slow than dead.

The joke worked, and the door swung open, only for a second gush of flame to come hurtling through the door. Her doom ward alerted her to the danger, but having poor physical abilities, Schatzi barely recognized what that danger even was before it hammered home into her torso, let alone dodge. It was...incredibly weak though, lesser even than the flamethrower burst from the doorknob. It dissipated harmlessly against the nude shapeshifter's skin, not even interrupting her regeneration from the burns inflicted prior. Those were almost fully healed by this point, too, and she would continue to recover until she reached a completely immaculate state once more. Clearly her doom ward had registered a false positive. A second bolt followed the first, and though she saw this one coming, it resembled the previous closely. She didn't even bother trying to dodge, just letting the attack expend itself against her bare flesh.

A young and seemingly exuberant male walked through following the flames. It was surely he who had cast them, and so Schatzi swung as hard as she could to punch him in the nose as he blathered on. It wasn't as if he was making any sense to begin with.

Probably the blow wouldn't hurt much even if it connected considering her focus on less physical endeavors, but he seemed more the radish type anyway, and a significant gap in their power levels might make a difference. She briefly considered killing and eating him then and there - she was beginning to get a bit peckish now - but without her knives that would be difficult. Particularly since he wasn't alone. There was a female shape beyond the portal, one she recognized. She would step through past the boy if he didn't retaliate.

punch thrown has no technique or weapon (gauntlets) backing it, and is coming from an a-class taijutsu non-specialist. in other words, it probably will do minimal damage if any. a mildly broken nose at the very worst.

Quick note, the effect of elemental damage being reduced only applies to armor. It does not apply to attacks against non-armor items. The damage it leaves will be still be nonlethal due to the trait damage reduction.

As Phy had waited for Maasaa to enter first, not that the whole ladies first applied to this guy. Though it paid off it would seem he was getting the blame for something, as Phy was starting to recognize just who was on the other side of the door. It was at the very least another waterfall nin, non other than Shotz herself it seemed, as well as another nin she recognized from the beginning. Phy crossed her arms and watched the scene unfold, "Well now it all makes sense...." she said in a cool collected tone. Course she was thinking Shotz was the one making the door seem like it was talking. This girl was weird beyond a doubt and Phy wouldn't put it passed her if it was true.

Phy now wondered what exactly would have been the better way to go....this door led to one waterfall nin, and her other one went through the other door. This looked like some sort of hallway of sorts then another room. "Man...really wish I knew Shigure was alright...." she muttered as she didn't necessarily always show such compassion towards her team mates.

It seemed good he had been cautious entering the room. Although he’d just barely started speaking the girl before him almost immediately threw a punch at him. Though a surprised look would appear on his face, Maasaa would duck bending his knees to move beneath the punch and then push forward to move past the girl. She must have been the one to deal with the fire bolts that got sent through the door. How annoying that he had to deal with the result. Maasaa thought about retaliation but the voice appeared in his head. Their job was to escape not to fight one another.

Chakra was sent to Maasaa’s eyes as he activated his Sharingan 2nd tomoe once more. They were in a new room and he wanted to try and pick out anything unusual. However at the same time Maasaa felt his internal clock ticking. He’d spent a lot of exploring in the dragon room as he’d call it with nothing to show for it. Glancing back he spoke, ”Was your name Phyre? I’m going on ahead who knows how long we have in this place. These two don’t seem worth the time.” With that Maasaa kept to his word as he began to sprint down the corridor.

Maasaa’s eyes were scanning the walls floors and ceilings for sources of chakra or possible clues. Extending his left hand his fingers brushed along the wall making sure it was real. The dragon had been fake who knew what else was potentially? If he made it to the end of the corridor before the L turn he would stop and see what stood before him. Splitting up might not be the best choice but moves had to be made. With our without Phyre, Maasaa planned to escape.

Sharingan 2nd tomoe

This corridor refused to reveal anything, no matter what type of sight glanced at its walls. The material was apparently quite ordinary, but there was something more hidden inside that instantly cut of the powers of enhanced vision.

In addition to that, as soon as someone stepped across the surface, an audible click came from the floor. The entire section was litered with pressure plates. The plates that had already been stepped on by the previous occupants were visible with a glance, so there was a path of pressed plates along the hall. So far, the plate that was stepped on by Maasaa was one that had not been touched yet.

"Nyahaha...it's Jumpy again!" Schatzi grinned as she moved to embrace the newly arriving ally and press her body in close. The other kid had already dodged and run past her, not that she had been trying very hard.

"So any roads not taken on your side? Doesn't seem to be an exit from our side. Although I kind of want to press every switch in this hall, see if anything happens. I'll stick with you though, if you like, whatever you decide. Oh and are there any clothes laying around? I'm getting a bit cold..."

There! The door laughed! And opened. Immediately I stiffened my posture as the clown’s face disappeared from view upon the opening of the door. But this time Yoko had moved closer to me just as the small gout of fire flew into the room before being blocked by Schatzi’s posture as she stood directly in the doorway. Silently thanking the girl with the cat features, she marched into the room and threw a punch at the boy who had approached her. Sigh.

Two more occupants were inside this new room along with a Dragon which the boy had mentioned was a fake. There were other members who had left the room through another door as well. Frowning, But after the boy had made a quick duck and shot past the pair of us, I quietly follow Schatzi into the room as she embraced the red haired kunoichi. The pair of them must obviously know one another. Perhaps they were of the same village?

Yoko moved further and had approached the Dragon as it lay there motionless. At this point I stepped around the two kunoichi and approached the Dragon as well. Since the doorway behind me was a dead end, perhaps the door across the room would lead elsewhere. “Schatzi, may I suggest that the three of us head through that door?” I ask, uncaring if I was interrupting the two. My finger pointed toward the door which stood open, it seemed that whoever had moved through it had left it open for this room’s occupants.

Phyre was listening to what Massaa was saying as he then choose to go up the corridor. 'Great another decision....' she thought, as she was yet to be sure who she wanted to be with this time...The one she really wanted, just had to be the one she had no idea how to find yet...which would have been her comrade from Chimero Zero. Just in this time as Phy was trying to make sense of her though process. Shotz ending up giving Phyre a hug, thus stunning Phy to say the least. No one really has ever hugged her in awhile from what she could recall.

Usually she would want to push that one away, at this given time it would look like she really didn't care about it, and would just stand there accepting it awkwardly. She looked back and forth at the chooses she had this time. She would take notice to the odd floor making clicking noises. 'That....didn't sound good...' she thought. She looked back at Shotz to respond. "Well....the other girl from our village took the other door in our room...I just uhm...choose this one...because I was curious about what it did." Which was half true, the other truth was it pissed her off and she wanted to teach the darn thing a lesson. And course Phy was referring to Rosie, but knowing they didn't want her to say their kage was here, she choose to refer to her as the other girl.

"So...no way out that way huh?" she said as she looked towards Massaa, though he wasn't part of her village for some reason Phyre felt like she'd give him a helping hand. "HEY! No way out down that way dude!" she would yell towards him. Though wasn't quite sure what Shotz wanted to really do about the floor. Phy would look back into her starting room wondering if she should have just picked the other door to begin with...or did she help Shotz and the other girl get out of this corrider? Phy didn't quite make a decsion yet this time, but would ask Shotz one question. "Have you run into Shigure yet??"

The click of the plate came to his surprise but did not stop Maasaa from moving further down the hallway. Nothing seemed to happen so either the trap had already been triggered or there was a specific step to make. Either way this room was not one he planned to stay in for very long. With his sharingan still active Maasaa left the group of three to move as far as he could if they had both been stuck at the door neither offered much help.

If Maasaa made it to the end of the corridor he would look for an exit out of this place. As he rounded the corner he silently hoped that there was a door he could make his way through. Time was ticking and there was no indicator of who may have made it out or how much time was remaining. All he knew was he was still trapped.

The incessant clicks of the pressure plates continued to sound out in the corridor. All of the plates had not been pressed yet, though most of them were at this point.
