Performing the Ritual and Training the Benihime Basics: 0/10
Also beginning this mission.
Okiro no Higi (Ritual of Awakening)
Materials: Benihime Sword, one quart of the user's blood.
Special: ---
Preperation: The user must fast for a total of three days and nights. When that is done, the user will cut themselves using the Benihime sword and collect the blood that comes out until they have a quart (this is a lot of blood). Because of this, it is dangerous to perform this Ritual outside of the range of a medical shinobi. The fasting is meant to purify the blood before it is used for the Ritual, to make sure that as little corruption is within the system as possible.
Description: Once the blood is obtained, the user will perform the Hand Seals of every animal within the Chinese Zodiac in chronological order. A bright blue aura will overtake the user and then the user will pick up the sword. Dipping the edge of it into the blood, the user's chakratic aura will slowly begin to shift into red. Blood from the bottom will begin to run up the edges of the blade, giving the blade a crimson tint. This process of blood moving up the blade takes about 3 posts. When the blood reaches the guard of the sword, the blood will move from the left and to the right, forming the shape of three ribbons on the left and twelve triangular beads (Chibi-zu) on the right. Within five posts, these will harden completely and becoming almost like a fabric.
Effects: Allows the user to use the Blood Techniques of the Benihime.
Drawback: ---
Limit: Must have the Benihime. Cost is included with the Benihime.

Having recently purchased the famous sword Benihime, it was certainly time to learn how to use it. There was a small booklet of instructions that had been given to me when I had purchased the sword. Perhaps a good starting point would be to read that. I quickly skimmed through it, noting that I would need to fast for three days and nights. I had not eaten anything yet today, so that was good. I would continue to not eat, drinking only water to keep me alive. I would have to travel a bit slower on my way to Seisui in order not to over-stress my body, and to avoid other travelers. As I continued my fasting, I picked up the sword and took a good look at it.
At first glance this sword was something seriously new and different, unlike anything I had used in the past. I held it up sheathed, and admired it. The blade was a good bit shorter than a full size katana, at about forty-two inches long. It was also a straight blade rather than being curved like many standard blades. The sheath was a simple black leather, while the handle was made of a solid material colored yellow-gold. The hilt was bound with black cloth and hung with several red garnishments. The end of the handle terminated in a strange bent angle. Unsheathing it in a flourish, I noted the one-sided blade, ending sharply in a tanto-style angular point instead of the standard curving tip.
Taking the blade in hand, I would walk along the dirt road. Looking around for a moment, I flourished my new sword, Benihime. I made several practice cuts through the air before sheathing the sword neatly and securing the sheath at my side. Then i drew it quickly several times, practicing the movements of drawing and sheathing it quickly. It was important to get used to the new sword. After practicing for most of the afternoon as I traveled, I drank a lot of water and made camp.
