Description: A Light Weapon. These weapons do +1 Amour Points of Damage. The Range Increment of this weapon is 5 meters. A caltrop is a 4-pronged iron spike crafted so that one prong faces up no matter how the caltrop comes to rest. The user scatters caltrops on the ground in the hope that the opponent steps on them or at least forced to slow down to avoid them. 1 slot of caltrops cover an area 2 meter squared. Each time a creature moves into an area covered by caltrops or spends a round fighting while standing in an area, they may step on one. If the opponent steps on a caltrop the Caltrop deals 1 Armour Points of Damage, and the opponent's movements is reduced by 1/2 because its foot is wounded. This movement penalty lasts for 24 hours, or until the creature is treated with a First Aid: Healing Hard Check, or they are healed from minor wounds. A charging or running creature must immediately stop if it steps on a caltrop.

Character Depth
Personality:
Dessel's personality is the direct result of his upbringing. His harsh early years and suffering at the hands of criminal elements certainly hardened him, but not to the point of unfeeling. Instead he experiences a heightened empathy for the weak and the downtrodden. This leads him to run to their aid even when he doesn't have the strength to make a difference. Dessel is the type to happily give his life if it means that others may be spared.
The other side of this coin is a deep well of ferocity that hides behind his big heart. He sees pain inflicted upon oppressors as righteous and he's quick to resort to violence if he feels it is directed towards an adequate target. Torture and murder are his go-to problem solving methods when he can manage them. The line between good and evil is a blur to Dessel when he's examining his own actions, however, it is easy for him to pass judgment on the actions of others. Some may call his worldview simplistic or jaded, but to Dessel it is all too clear.
There are three types of people in his world: the weak, the good, and the evil. The weak must be protected from evil by the good, the good must be brutal and swift in their defense of the weak, and the evil must be destroyed with all the rage they would unleash upon the world if allowed to roam free. Dessel essentially exists in a gray area despite his seemingly black and white philosophy. Upon first meeting a new individual Dessel is cautious and mistrustful. He will attempt to fit the individual into one of his three categories and once he has decided where they fit he will act accordingly. He may rely on his instincts too much but they have yet to fail him. Dessel is still a child though, and perhaps one day he will be forced to take a step back and seriously reconsider his outlook.
Dessel is small for his age due in no small part to the hard life he has lived. His body is all sharp edges and it seems that no matter what changes he makes to his diet or exercise regimen he can't quite fill out his frame. In the past year he has put on a layer of lean muscle but he's still quite comical to observe considering his rash personality and tendency to get in fights. He has been described on multiple occasions as all knees and elbows, and as a result he's taken to wearing a cape that he made out of an old, tan blanket that was gifted to him shortly before his arrival in Sunagakure. Beneath that he generally wears a brown tactical vest and a white, short-sleeved undershirt. With a flamboyant red sash, brown pants, and a pair of tan sandals rounding out his attire.
His face is as angular as the rest of him. Best described as an upside down isosceles triangle beginning with a wide forehead and ending in a sharp chin. His nose is rather large and has a distinct hook leading many to compare it to the beak of a hawk or eagle. While his ears stick out rather awkwardly and are quite large with prominent lobes. He has almond shaped eyes like chunks of flint that tend to darken like storm clouds when he's angry or lost in thought and his skin is deeply tanned from time spent outdoors. There are also slight wrinkles in his brow and around his eyes that betray worries far beyond his years.
As far as distinguishing marks and features Dessel has a plethora. The most apparent of which is his alopecia universalis. Which is a disorder characterized by a complete lack of hair including eyebrows and eyelashes. His back is home to an intricate patchwork of scars left by various whips. While his hands and feet are essentially giant callouses earned through hard labor. His gaunt, right cheek is home to the brand of the runaway, and the brand of the Cotetsi Corporation sits on the inside of his right wrist. The former brand being earned at the age of twelve, and the latter at the tender age of six. Dessel is basically a real character as far as looks are concerned and he wears his life on his skin for all to see.
Born in the frozen wastes of Yuki no Kuni to an alcoholic father and a sickly mother Dessel seemed destined for a life as harsh as the cold that surrounded his childhood home. His mother passed when he was only three and his father sold him to slavers at the age of four. Dessel doesn't remember the reasoning behind his father's decision. In fact, he barely remembers his mother's death and being passed from caravan to caravan over the next two years effectively blurred that time period in his memory. Since he was too young for any hard labor he was originally tasked with minor jobs like washing dishes and fetching water until age six when he fell into the cruel hands of the Cotetsi Corporation.
The Cotetsi Corporation had contracts with many large cities to provide crops and livestock at cost. Little did those cities know that Cotetsi utilized slave labor to keep up with their production quotas. They branded Dessel's wrist with their mark and put him to work in their vast fields. His first job was harvesting short crops like potatoes and bush beans. Despite his age he was often forced to work twelve to sixteen hours a day alongside the other slaves that Cotetsi possessed. When he turned ten he was rotated into livestock duty. Which encompassed jobs such as milking cows and shearing sheep. Tasks suited to the young and the old alike. With hard labor being reserved for the strong backs of those slaves aged sixteen to fifty.
Once Dessel turned twelve he was rolled into a plot to escape by some of the older workers. It was more from pity then from usefulness, and their inclusion of the children likely played a large role in the eventual failure of their escape attempt. Those leading the exodus were put to death upon capture. While the simple participants like Dessel had their cheeks branded to tell the story of their failure to all those they encountered. It wasn't long after this that a team of Suna-nin were tasked with investigating Cotetsi. They were horrified by what they found and the head of the team took it upon himself to lead the slaves in a bloody revolt. It was during this revolt that Dessel both molded his chakra for the first time and committed his first righteous murder. With the Cotetsi Corporation destroyed many of the slaves sought to return to their home countries, but the Suna-nin recognized Dessel's potential and offered him the chance to return to Sunagakure with them. Of course, he jumped at this and he spent the next two years playing catch up in the academy. When he graduated he swore that he would spend his career as a ninja crushing the evils of the world and protecting those as weak as he had once been.
