Katsu stepped out of the Raikage Tower, his gray-toned scales looking like a mass of clouds. They didn't even seem to catch the light at all, and Katsu's eyes were no better. Their inhuman look was dulled and corroded, the focus and spirit gone out of them completely. Katsu's eyes for all their difference from a normal human's had the look of someone who had just lost a very important part of themselves.

For a long long time Katsu merely stood at the entrance, his mind blank. He had completely forgotten what he had been planning to do after he had visited the Raikage Tower to report in...

Oh right, he had planned on visiting Amarantha to interest her in another date, a proper one this time. The fury and sadness threatened to overwhelm him once more, and it took Katsu a long moment to calm himself down again. His eyes which had just that moment burned with a great intensity dulled again, and he set off.

Need something to take my mind off this...

Throughout that whole day, as well as the next, Katsu merely searched for something to occupy himself, going around to his usual training spots, to the market, to the bars, looking for something, anything, to occupy his mind. With that he had managed to pick up a rumor, a rumor that the Former Yukikage had somehow gone missing, and that a Hospital building in Yukigakure had been burned to the ground. This at least piqued Katsu's interest. Yukigakure was supposed to be a potential ally of Kumogakure; one of their strongest Shinobi going missing could seriously influence the politics involved.

Here there was also an opportunity. If by finding the Yukikage Katsu could strengthen relations between Kumo and Yuki, then perhaps the situation between Yuki and Konoha, which seemed to never improve ever since a while ago, might be defused, and peace settle more firmly across the land? It was the sort of altruistic thought Katsu had from time to time, especially when he recalled his younger self before he had been... changed.

Yes. That seemed a good idea. Katsu could find the old Yukikage, and maybe help the world at large through that! Katsu immediately removed himself from the public space, heading out into one of the many park forests that were within Kumogakure, finding a place where he would be sure not to frighten others with his unique powers. For Katsu was a Soulcaster, one who could speak to the dead, and not many found comfort in that at all.

Safe and secluded, Katsu would begin his jutsu, focusing the energy of his very soul to power the effect, calling out in a strong, yet lifeless seeming voice, “Spirits who have passed on, who know more than any living being, I ask you to help me search for one who has become lost. I seek the one known as Ace Debutler, the Noble Gambler, a former Yukikage. Please lend me your aid in finding this one, that I might bring some light to this world...”

His incantation done Katsu's spirit reached out, crossing time, space, and perception to grab at some unknown spirit who had the answer he sought, gently tugging them into his own world, coalescing their form into that which they remembered having here on the earthly plane, and placing them in front of Katsu so that they might converse...

Bright light and silence was all that consisted of the Scion of Hearts yet as he floated in this blank realm his lips remained curled in a proud smile. He remembered his ascension all of his efforts showing giving him the opportunity to gain his ethereal wings yet bound in the space between the dismal abyss and the glorious eternal land of heroes. Light blue eyes glanced downward while he remained silent pondering of why he could not ascend anymore. "have my hatred and pride bound me to this blank canvas" the Hachidaime Yukikage thought as he tried to think of his past yet only remembering the final moments of his death. Still the card enchanter constantly saw the face of his loving wife knowing that she was just up there in heaven awaiting her radiant knight. Down bellow he constantly watched the vibrant orbs of wondering spirit fallow their destined path as their guardian watched over them. Just in life the Chivalrous Gambler watched over these children making sure that they fallow the path of their past actions. He was the one that had to force one to ascend to the stars or go to the flames of sin after the reaper brought them to this plane. Despite this holy duty he was still being punished for things that he slowly began to forget about. There was a single name that remained embedded inside his memories one that was so acidic and vile it polluted the pure light inside his vessel. "Gosei....Gosei.....GOSEI" he thought malicely his ethereal body shaking with such sinful anger. Responding to this like times before a couple of his feathers upon his white angel wings fell off before decaying away. These moments did not usual happen due to many memories cloaked out that name yet slowly he began to forget those buffer tools.

A few moments later a few meters ahead the blank space began to subtly tear open. Ace curiously attempted to float forward yet as if invisible chains latched upon his spiritual form he could not move any closer. Ace enjoyed his obligated duty in this realm yet he lounged to ensure the safety of his village and his son Penoa. So many things were left behind without a final conclusion still was it the correct end of his journey. Listening closely and patiently it seemed the voice belonged to a man yet it was not his son's tone. Also due to the gender it meant it could not be Rosalie just who was this person that desired to communicate with him.

After a few moments there was deep silence as Ace attempted to process how to reach out. "..wh..ooo" it started off obvious being strained yet keeping his soft and gentle tone "wel...come" he said in his usual tone afterwards even though the communication was off due to physical and spiritual strength it required to accurately pass messages from the beyound were immense he still had to try. If the person on the other side responded to this gibberish the Hachidaime Yukikage would attempt more to pass on what had to be said yet as he attempted to talk the invisible chains tightened even more, reminding him if things remained the same this would be his realm to watch over for all eternity. Softly and angelically the his wings glowed brightly reminding the hero of the grand deeds he performed yet reminding him of the obligations he earned through his own ignorant pride.

Katsu noted the strangeness of the situation. His jutsu had somehow failed and succeeded at the same time. He could not feel a spirit directly near to him, but he knew he had somehow gained the attention of... something. Katsu exhaled, and focused his spirit energy once more, using his energy to rip open the veil between life and death, not for the spirit, but for himself. With that he could enter, ever so slightly, the realm of the Spirit World to see who or what he had gained the attention of...

Standing on the precipice between Life and Death was never comfortable. Living Minds weren't meant to see the Beyond, and it changed them even if they survived the encounter. Katsu had been here more than once however, and his mind had adapted enough to at least not go insane with the strange environment. To him the entire place manifested as a great blinding light coming from all directions, as if trapped within the heart of a sun! Yet within this great sea of light there was some kind of being, humanoid in shape and bound by chains. In the Spirit World one's own belief could shape their reality, and thus those chains were creations of the spirit they had bound.

Katsu had a choice, break free this spirit so that he might speak with it, and accept any situation that might arise, or leave it, and give up on his endeavor. It was pointless to try and Reach Beyond twice for the same target. Katsu decided to, despite the risks of the spirit being malevolent, free it from its chains, if only temporarily as it would eventually craft new chains itself to bind itself...

Another focus of Soul Energy, and Katsu literally blasted the chains with pure Holy Energy, shattering the Sins within the spirit and the chains that represented them. It would free the Spirit, for a time, but eventually they would remember their own Sins once more and the chains would come again.

For now however, Katsu would be able to grab hold of the Spirit by the chest, and through pure force of will would drag it into the physical world, forcing them to manifest. “Your chains are broken, Spirit, come. Answer my questions and I'll do what I can agree to for you...”

With that Katsu had only to wait while the spirit fully manifested and spoke it's greeting once more...

Searing Soul

Description: Starting at "D" Class a Soulcaster can assault the soul of another. This attack is a 15 meter ray of soft blue light. The user attacks one person by extending their arm out. This attack hits the insides of the user, affects their very life force. At first it doesn't cause much damage however the higher the more the user learns the deadlier the technique becomes. The attack leaves no physical damage, but creates internal damage against the user's life line. People said it feels like having a heart attack while having lost of breathe. Each time learned the user is capable of shooting this technique 5 meters extra. Technique may travel 10 meters per second plus 5 meters per Class Level.
After 50 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level. Searing Soul does an extra 5 Armour Points of Damage.
After 100 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level. Searing Soul does an extra 5 Armour Points of Damage.
After 150 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level. Searing Soul does an extra 5 Armour Points of Damage.

Cap of this technique is 200 meters. Capping increases damage by an extra 5 Armour Points. If the target is undead, the Soulcaster assaults the tethers that bind the body to the material plane, inflicting half the damage instead. This attack has no effect on constructs.

Once again the presence of another from the living realm beckoned the Scion of Hearts. His mind remained fuzzy of what the outside world even looked like it been so long since he walked among the living. Silently the bound angel flaped his wings allowing ehteral dust to float off of his earned wings. Still the small tear of the void remained allowing a faint glint of sunlight to peer through eliciting the duty bound chaains to remain fastened upon the Chivalrous Gambler's arms and legs. The little sprites below resumed their travels abiding their instructions of where they belonged. Despite the discomfort of the chains Ace remained watching over the souls below making sure that they traveled safely. He wondered how long has it been since he first arrived in this place. It must have been ages that must have been true yet time itself never seemed to have progressed. He was calm and relaxed not ashamed of the chains which he created yet not ready to accept his own faults.

However, the rift ahead seemed to become wider as a blurred figure seemed to have stepped into the realm. Light blue eyes glistened as he remained silent and calm as he remained ready to attack this invader if he desired to disrupt the safety of this realm. Although, as the stranger remained in the realm Ace could see there was no sign of malice in the stranger's desires. "Why is the living among the dead" the Hachidaime Yukikage pondered as the man approached. In a swift movement the individual pushed forth a pure amount of energy which clashed upon the chains shattering them. Afterwards Ace was pulled forward despite his spirit thrashing to remain inside his destined realm of silence and serene peace. Soon the blank light vanished as darkness appeared at first then the sound of nature echoed soon after. As if waking up the proud teacher of Yukigakure spirit appeared in the forest gazing upon the man who summoned him. His body appeared the same as he was during his years of living yet instead of wears his vessel appeared to glow and be transparent. Although if the stranger glanced at the card enchanter's left hand it would appear torn and tattered as if something of grand importance was missing. Also what appeared to be a ghastly scar radiating from upon his chest similar to the kage's hand beckoned an eerie mystery.

"you have beckoned for my arrival lad how shall I help" the deceased red leg master gently and politely mentioned to the living mortal. While awaiting the answer he glanced around while placing an ethereal hand upon his chin. This was not a location he was familiar with also it seemed society have not converted it which was nice. He forgot many details of his village yet he remembered constant construction of buildings being built and destruction of the land in general. Maybe the inhabitants of this land did not forsake tradition like it occurred during the reign of Pricillia. Then again the name pricillia did not hold any meaning for the fallen Yukikage because slowly the name and face vanished from his consciousness long ago.

The figure that would resolve itself in the spirit's view was a far cry short of a child. Katsu was some kind of half-dragon half-human abomination, all deadly sleekness. There was none of the endearing weakness of a human child about him, and he in fact tended to repulse most people by simply looking so different. Katsu merely quirked an eyebrow at the Spirit, speaking, “I'm not really a 'lad', spirit. I am Katsu, of the Kazeraikou. I called you here to learn where Ace Debutler is located. He has gone missing supposedly after a Hospital building was burnt to the ground in Yukigakure. He was a former Yukikage, and from the enmity between the two villages, he was also an enemy of Gosei Kazeraikou. Know you where I might find this man, spirit?”

Katsu still had little inkling of who he was actually talking to, and tried to give as much information as he knew about the man known as Ace. In fact he had exhausted just about every bit of information he had managed to glean about the man. Hopefully this would be enough for the Spirit to give him some kind of information, although Katsu expected it to be cryptic. Most Spirits had a thing for being Cryptic. Katsu assumed it had to do with being dead, or some such...

o how it felt nice to be able to talk even if it felt his soul was being torn asunder from the inside out. Still despite this grand spiritual discomfort Ace remained calm while he observed his surroundings. Light blue eyes glanced over at the stranger his figure becoming clear as the spirit remained getting use to the living realm. Once he could actually see what the living mortal looked like one of his ethereal eyebrows rose up in curiosity. It seemed the boy was part of an experiment yet his demonic appearance did not faze the Chivalrous Gambler he was use to the dirty programs of hidden villages even during his own reign that was a topic that was discussed. Although, if any village decided to convert a citizen or shinobi into a full fledged weapon then they had to take responsibility for the creatures health and moral well-being. Also no matter age or appearance any man was considered a lad by the Scion of Hearts until they illustrated that they had the will to risk everything to save another. The Hachidaime Yukikage patiently listen to the other as he explained the situation that stirred up the events of the day. It seemed the hospital which he died in was destroyed most likely to erase any evidence. "leaf shinobi....crystal" he thought silently as his ghost-like hands tightened as he could feel anger and malice seeping throughout his vessel. Although a faint calming voice from the heavens softened this rage allowing him to return back to his usual calm demeanor.

"Katsu all men and woman are young lads or misses until they illustrate their undying faith and bravery towards illustrating the good will of humanity" the card enchanter replied sternly in a scalding manner while his voice remained soft and gentle. People were foolish...himself was foolish it seemed power always came with the responsibility of leaving lessons and tales for others to learn from did his reign conjure up more hatred between Konoha and Yukigakure. A shinobi who never risked showing the good will and obligated to the moral requirements of the formula of humanity he or she did not have the right to consider themselves mature. If they never illustrated that they was only a fool with power similar to a child with a paper crown. "buildings can be rebuilt yet always must be considered for their reconstruction" the spirit solemnly said while walking over to a tree. "life cannot be replaced was there anymore reported deaths" the Hachidaime Yukikage asked while his spiritual hand went through the tree before he pulled it out slowly. The memories of the hospital were blurry the image of a blinking light could be seen while a button pressed. Sadly shaking his head he hoped he was able to press the button which got all of the nurses and patients out.

"..konoha have robed Yukigakure of its honor, for years we have abide and assisted them to bring forth a new dawn between our histories" Ace said in his usual tone yet disappointment lingering in his eyes. "like sheep for harvest it seems the Shepard have finally harvested the meat after the last sheering" his tone become a lot more angrier as he thought about that vile village. As if a bomb went off an immense pain shot through the Chivalrous Gambler body as if he was being boiled alive. Clutching upon his head the fallen kage bent forward immense heat searing throughout his body. "Gosei that demented weasel...that bastard...that manipulative swine" his mind raged for what seemed to be long drawn minutes. Eventually the pain and such subsided allowing the card enchanter to return back to his usual demeanor. "Yes, Ace Debutler Onta he was a teacher for the village after his reign always desiring what was best for the next generation" Ace said while a soft smile appeared upon his lips little glimpse and images of his past life appearing inside his mind. "even he did not realize his own faults before it was too late yet he risked his life to protect another being that had a brighter future than his own" he continued while the soft smile weakened slightly before slowly turning his head. For moments light blue eyes stared upon the stranger allowing the minutes to pass away.

" That hero was me the Hachidaime Yukikage of Yukigakure" the fallen kage revealed as a smirk appeared upon his lips. It been forever since he could physically mention his title which the words sent a nice and satisfying shiver through his vessel.

Ah, one of those people who just had a quirk of personality. Apparently to this man only Paladins were worthy of being treated as an adult. Heh, well this seems to be in my favor to have found a goodly spirit in this matter.

However, Katsu also shrugged, shaking his head and speaking in response to his lad comment, “I don't think I'm qualified to claim having any human virtues, let alone being able to illustrate my dedication to them. I am what I am, after all, and it's certainly not human anymore...” A trace of bitterness entered Katsu's voice as he spoke this, obvious regretting his own circumstances, for a wide variety of reasons no doubt.

“As to the incident, I have scant information. It was only due to the Yukikage himself being involved that the information of the incident made it outside Yuki no Kuni. I've nothing I can say in regards to that. My Apologies.” Katsu had by that point thought of a possibility, one that involved the identity of the spirit before him, but he didn't have enough data to make it a formal conclusion just yet, and so continued his conversation, trying to compare everything he heard to what he knew of a certain being...

When the spirit convulsed Katsu could do nothing for the being. There wasn't anything that could really harm a soul except... itself. Even if you blasted away at a Soul with pure energy, the only thing you really did was sever the bonds that kept it tied to the place you were in, the actual being would merely be inconvenienced as it returned to the Ether. So when the spirit convulsed and appeared in pain, Katsu knew that his technique was almost up. The chains of emotions that the spirit had bound to itself were going to reform, and drag the spirit back to the Ether without Katsu doing anything.

Of course, there was at least some more information that Katsu needed from this spirit, although when it introduced itself as Ace Debutler Oda himself Katsu was a little shocked. He hadn't expected his initial thoughts on the spirit's identity to be right. Katsu's emotions suddenly became urgent, the sudden alarm and concern in his eyes projecting very well despite their inhuman appearance, “Wait! Stop. I need one piece of information from you, Kage. Quickly tell me of your Killer, before you're forced back to the Ether! Any information is good. Their name, what they looked like, how they acted, your own thoughts on what their personality was? Would they keep your corpse as a trophy, perhaps?”

Katsu's alarm wasn't from this spirit being Ace, at least not on that alone. Katsu was alarmed because it meant that one of the most famous and powerful figures of Yukigakure was dead. This weakness would sure to be exploited by their enemies, which included Konoha. Yuki and Konoha were both essentially loose friends with Kumogakure, but them breaking out into outright war once again could destabilize the entire political scene of the continent! Katsu had seen battle and what it did to people, and the idea of another Shinobi War being sparked was terrifying to him. It would only take a spark to ignite the entire continent, and if Yukigakure and Konohagakure began to fight, trying to bring in their allies to avoid destruction, they could be that spark.

Thus Katsu's instinct was to see if there was a corpse of Ace that he could work with; to bring the man back to life, to stabilize Yukigakure, and to keep the political situation in the Shinobi World from deteriorating. War ruined lives and corrupted souls. It was a thing of darkness and evil, and Katsu dearly wanted to prevent another one from appearing, especially one that Kumogakure might get dragged into...

As the Chivalrous Gambler chatted with the living mortal the stranger revealed that he did not have any human qualities. Chuckling at this foolish remark Ace thought that was ridiculous all intelligent sentient beings was obligated to practice the value of good will. Still as the boy talked it seemed he was ashamed of his transformation as if begging to return what was lost. The Scion of Hearts sadly shook his head knowing that he too wished to discard all of his own human vessel yet failing to treasure his fragile mortal body. "Lad the good will and the formula of universal law are ideas and guidelines being human is not an requirement only if he or she knows and understand their own faults they can begin to understand those moral principals" he said gently closing his eyes as soft smile lingered upon his lips. As the card enchanter closed his eyes he could see himself gently patting the top of his son's head teaching Penoa a similar lesson such as the stranger before him. " through humility and personal growth only then a sentient being can will their desires into a universalized law to benefit the rest of the living realm" Ace said to him in his gentle and polite tone. "conjured from a experiment or through personal agenda those ideals cannot be vanquished despite how much you lost yourself throughout your personal gain" he informed Katsu his tone become firm and authoritarian while keeping the same tone qualities as before.

When he was informed that there were no more recorded deaths of the hospital incident the card enchanter let out a sigh of relief. Hopefully the nurses and such could recover from this travesty. After the agonizing headache and such the boy asked many more question once he learned the identity of the spirit amongst him. Still slightly in pain from the sudden explosion of agony he attempted to remember the details of his death yet a lot of it came out to be a blur. Even in death one could remember their final moments yet the Scion of Hearts could not as if a part of him was frozen in time as if preserved in some method. "Katsu the method of my demise comes out to be a crippling blur only a few details of the repugnant villain i can remember while a part of my human vessel feel frozen between life and death" the Hachidaime Yukikage said in a calm and solemn tone as he looked up at the heavens. "crystals and a glorious bright light bathing my mortal vessel" Ace informed the individual as a sad smile appeared upon his lips. He was not angry with his death yet he felt unsatisfied as if something had to be done before he lost everything. "the last fact which lingers are about sisters one a excellent swordwomen and the other a tailor" the red leg master informed while he could feel the fabric between the living world and the realm of limbo beginning to open.

Well, at least he knows to look more than skin deep for quality. I'll give him that. Katsu couldn't help but feel a little better, noting the position the man took on people. He'd long since grown weary of people judging him by his appearance, and seeing someone who completely ignored it in favor of judging his actions was refreshing.

“I think I like you, Yukikage. So, between that and another thing, I think I've got more than enough reason to... investigate, and see what may be done about this situation. As you should know by now, death is not the end. It is merely another state of being. So can a living person die, thus can a dead person be made to live. I make no promises, but there is a chance that if I can find your body, if your killer preserved a part of you as a trophy, then I know of a way to return you to life.

“I'd ask you to return to the Ether. It seems I must investigate this matter through physical means... at the very least, it seems my questions can only be answered elsewhere. Try and let go of your regrets, Ace, or if you can't, hold onto the idea that you may yet get another chance to set them right in this world... For now, Farewell Yukikage.” Katsu would give a respectful bow before he completely stopped trying to hold Ace in this world, letting his form sink back through the tear to the Ether so that he might rest a bit without care.

As for Katsu, it seemed he had business to attend to. First, was a trip to the Raikage's Tower once more...

His words of wisdom were ones which he should of listened to during his time of life. Ace remembered the final years of his existence being filled with hate and disdain of Konoha instead allowing himself the chance to grow and learn his own faults. When the Chivalrous Gambler's light blue eyes glanced at the boy a soft smile forming upon the Hachidaime Yukikage's lips. He saw this boy as another child that had to be show the correct path. The card enchanter could see himself back at the academy teaching the young children like he did before his own self-exile from his dear home. All of them had potential to change the world yet he knew they had to have a teacher which learned from his own mistakes. Then in that slight moment another visions conjured forth which was Penoa alone in his work shop reading his father's log book. A sharp sting of sadness echoed throughout the deceased leader's ethereal vessel. "Penoa please be safe" he thought as the ether slowly began to tear open. Then Katsu began explaining the purpose of the summoning mentioning a way for resurrection. He thought about this idea he did after-all have many questions to answer yet he knew if he went back to the mortal world upon his death there would be no way to ascend into heaven.

Then the stranger talked some more mentioning for the fallen knight to let go of his regrets. Ace chuckled slightly allowing a slight sigh to escape his lips in the process. He knew that his regrets were the chains which bound him to his eternal obligation of watches over the passing spirits. As horrible as the ethereal chains were it reminded him of the mistakes he made so he could pass on his learned lessons onto others.Slowly the card enchanter walked over the lad his face calm and gentle. Slowly the Hachidaime Yukikage laid his ethereal right hand upon the winged shinobi. "I have passed my words of wisdom to many children if you shall be the last one to heed my words so be it as the Triad of Fates see fit" he said calmly as his hand softly patted the other's scalp. "If you journey through life with the words which I spoke then it would be a pleasure to watch you as you develop" he mentioned in his usual polite tone before turning around after the boy gave the elder a respectable bow. He slowly began to walk forward as the ether rippled forward the heavenly light beckoning for the eternal guardian of the cross roads of fate to return back to his post.
