Disk Small (4); Disk Medium (1):
Majid's hands are the single most important aspect of his corporeal body. Due to this, he's refrained from engaging in any kind of combat the requires the strenuous use of his hands (swords, blunt weapons, etc). Instead, he's taken the time to learn how to use ranged weapons. Although they require a certain amount of force, he's learned that it's more about the motion of the wrist and not the force in the arm. These disks are organized neatly on his back, strapped by a smooth silk ribbon, with the medium sized one touching his attire and the smaller ones tied to his hip.

Character Depth
Personality:
When I'm Happy: "Where The Birds Are" (Applying the lyrics to the law...because I'm still in love...duh :3)
When I'm Sad: "The Beach"
(Disclaimer: Like many children, Majid's personality has not completely developed, causing people's perception of him to change every time they come into contact with one another.)
"Hey there teacher, I'm the newest transfer student, Majid Khizaf. I'm here for my interview!"
"Okay Majid, have a seat, I'll be your instructor for the day. You can call me Ms. Ise. We will begin shortly. I'm quite impressed with the way you conduct yourself, I've heard you're quite intelligent. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more. How about we start off simple. In six words or less, how would you describe yourself and why did you choose those words?"
"Hmmm...how would I describe myself? I'm not entirely sure about that. Umm, maybe it'd benefit you to ask my parents because they're the ones who have to put up with me on a daily basis. I'm sure they'd disagree with how I view myself...but...I do know that I like bigs words! Maybe you could call me studious? I don't know exactly what it means, but it sounds like study...and studying reminds me of reading, and I love reading! Almost as much as I love Amani!" Majid pauses for a moment, reaching downwards towards his pet cat, stroking her 'til she purrs. "I like to read, I like libraries, I even like going to school...except math class. I hate numbers, they're annoying like mosquitoes." The cute little boy jokingly swats his shoulder before shuddering. "When it comes to watching the grown ups fight, I umm...I like to pay close attention and watch how they move their bodies when using any kind of technique. I also like to watch people. Sometimes I don't understand why they act the way they do, but I've started to notice that people act the same way when they're put in similar situations!"
"I see you love your pet very much!" The young woman's soft voice danced through the room as Majid momentarily paused. She observed how frequently he scratched the back of his head while analyzing his own behavior.
"Well, I guess I'd also call myself pretty uhh...energetic! I know my parents say that when I get wound up, it's pretty hard to calm me down. Maybe the right word is exciting? Lively? Going out...or out going or...going somewhere...I dunno, something of the sorts. I just like to run around and play a lotttt. I like interacting with people both physically and umm...with talking. I think that's called verbally? Or umm..verba...vocally...uhh..darn it. But you get my point!" Stuttering, Majid takes a moment to briefly recollect his thoughts. "I guess that's tied to my being friendly. I really really really like people and meeting people I've never met before! Since traveling from Iwagakure, I've met all sorts of people and they're all so different from those back at home. But that's not a bad thing, there's nothing wrong with coming from different places, right? It encourages togetherness and umm new ideas and perspec-a-tives!"
"Ahh, you mean perspective!" The interviewer laughed lightly in unison with the lad. "You're definitely very talkative. You'll definitely get along with your classmates, though some of them are not as gregarious, or interactive, as you are. That means that you might have to try extra hard to get them to open up to you. Since you like big words, I thought I'd teach you a couple more!" The two laughed yet again before Majid's mind wandered back to describing himself.
"Oh, but on a less positive side...I think that's called a bad side..."
"You mean negative."
"Yes, negative note! I umm, sometimes I can be mean when people are mean to me or when they take my things without asking. That hurts my feelings. I don't know why some people do that, but like...if they'd just ask I'd love to share...but why?" The boys eyes tear up lightly, reflecting the emotional injury he suffered as a child. "Like that time that the bad men came and took our house. That's why..." He choked on his words, fumbling for the right syllables but losing control with every attempt. "I...we...my...fami..ly...had to move..." Majid stopped for a moment before centering himself and resuming his discussion. He swiftly moved his right arm towards his face, wiping away any excess tears. His glossy countenance slowly faded as his face blossomed, exploding in a bright display of crimson and vermillion. "I'm sorry, sometimes I'm a bit too easily moved, it's embarrassing. I just wish that...I mean...the "civil" war between our clan is supposed to be over...but they continue to destroy. Why can't we just learn to live together? Having more friends is always better than having more un-friends!"
"That's okay Majid, I know it's difficult. There's nothing wrong with being a little sensitive and even defending yourself when you feel like you've been wronged. Just try not to let it overcome you, you're such a bright and intuitive young boy, don't let these things sway you!"
"Okay! Thank you, I appreciate you not making this any more difficult than it already is. I also like to tell the truth, and when my friends do something wrong, I make sure that they go and tell the grown ups because doing bad things is bad. I don't want to be a tattle-tale but if we don't listen to the rules, then what will have? Rules make us good people, and being good is good!"
"Yes, you're very right about that, but don't let abiding by the rules destroy your friendships." The woman gently patted Majid's shoulder before continuing, "Sometimes it's okay to break the rules, but you're right, you should definitely follow them. Is there anything else you'd like to add?"
Before speaking, Majid gently scratches the back of his head. "Ummm...well, I can't hide the fact that my parents think that I can get annoying, especially when it comes to following the rules. Sometimes they tell me to shut up, but I don't get why you'd ever break the rules. I guess that's a grown up thing." He giggles lightly and shrugs. "I can also get cranky if I'm forced to do things I don't like...but I think that covers up everything that I think is important about me! How did I do?"
"Don't worry, you did very well Majid. You're going to fit in very well here. Let me introduce you to the rest of the kids, but before that you should grab some lunch. Thanks for giving me the pleasure of getting to know you!"
"Please, the pleasure is mine!"
Appearance:
Shuffling through the paper work on the young boy proved to be quite arduous for Ms. Ise. Not only was there an abundance of data on his historical background, his scholastic accomplishments, and the recently conducted interview, Ms. Ise also found multiple head shots of the newly admitted student. "Wow, either he's entering the entertainment sector or his family really just loves looking at their kid." Moments later, she stumbled on a picture of the refugee and his pet cat Amani. "Aww, this is adorable...this has to be his class picture."
The image perfectly captured the image of the boisterous lad. Thank heavens for his photogenic face. His complexion was enviously smooth. It was a known fact that his family members were refugees from the Toujitakumi clan, renowned for their ability to craft clay, but his skin was a marble-smooth masterpiece. Even though he was noticeably darker than his contemporaries, his skin's glossy nature beautifully reflected light adding to his angelic nature. His hands were slightly more coarse, due to their constant use in clay creation and reformation, though not visibly so.
His eyes were seen as a source of concern amongst teachers who understood that bullies enjoyed picking on those that were aesthetically different than themselves. His right eye was a reddish brown color, like sand, which greatly contrasted with the obsidian sclera of his left eye. Though the phenomena was uncommon and hard to ignore, those who've seen his face say that they adequately mirror the components of his soul. His countenance was uplifting, bright like a star in the midnight sky; even though his eyes were not bright, one could feel the "light" emanating from his gaze.
Messily perched atop his head was a crown of vibrant gray hair. Majid finally came to terms with the fact that his hair may never be neat, permanently resembling someone who's been active all day. That being said, it's quite soft, slightly aromatic, and as smooth as his skin. His parents taught him that physical and emotional hygiene are equally important. Majid isn't a fan of haircuts, allowing his hair to fall to about shoulder level in order to hide his somewhat pointy ears.
His stature was quite average for someone of his age. He was neither tall nor short, thick nor thin. He was slender, and not underweight. His usual attire consisted of a tightly fitting black shirt, tucked into dark brown straight-legged slacks, beneath a black open front jacket. His utility belt, which bore the insignia of his family's clan, was an oversized accessory that hung off his waist. He wore a crimson sash, or short scarf, around the collar of his jacket to keep warm, as he tends to get cold quite easily. Majid preferred wearing boots when possible but wore slippers when the temperature was unusually warm. Underneath all the clothing, he wore a necklace who's fractured bird-shaped pendant has been seen by no one but his family and himself. It remains a reminder that a bird with clipped wings can still learn to fly, it might just take a longer while.
After conclusively selecting this picture of Majid, Ms. Ise pinned it to the wall in a photographic display of her class.
(On a side note, even though it is not depicted in the picture, one should note that Majid usually does wear goggles; either on his face or around his neck.)

Ms. Ise happily watched the children exit the classroom as the day's mandatory activities finally came to an end. While collecting the excess supplies leftovers from those who left in a hurry, she let out a soft sigh before collecting Majid's materials. "I really hope he had a good first day." Her eyes fell shut for a moment as she recounted all that she'd learned about the boy during the day.
"Sometimes, I'm amazed with how resilient children are...especially ones so young. They can be so impressionable, yet they're also so pure." Her mind drifted on endlessly. Seconds grew longer and longer as she visually imagined growing up in his shoes.
Her mind started with the details of his birth. "Eight years...eight years ago, I'd just passed my Chuunin exams. Ironically, the day I passed was the day he was born." Her mind flirted with ideas of her youth. She was so carefree, much like the infantile naivety exhibited by Majid at the time of his birth. There were no complications and he was entirely healthy. His mother survived, and his parents are both still alive and well.
They, unlike her, resided in a country far from their current location. Though the internal struggles that their clan faced receded daily, hate still lingered in their society. It didn't really affect their daily lives at first. While Majid's mother stayed at home making sure he was well taken care of, his father established his brand and grew to prominence amongst local merchants. Although he wasn't as versatile as many of his peers, Malik (Majid's father) had an exquisite taste in sculptures. He cultivated his fascination and worked hard, finally creating products that forced his contemporaries to specialize. Generalization was no longer an option.
Many members of their society grew to hate Malik's revolution as it severely limited the types of products they could put out, and eventually ran those who couldn't keep up out of business. Before long, they had many enemies, though little could be done about it as their status skyrocketed...and with prestige came protection. By the time Majid turned 4, his family joined the upper echelon of artisans, working closely with political heads, leaders, and apparently the armed forces. Nobody suspected such high quality pieces to be explosive...they were meant to be cherished...but alas "All is fair in love and war".
Tensions remained somewhat high in their community, as the report Ms. Ise had grown familiar with stated, but that didn't impact the daily lives of those who were near the top. Instead, they continued to cultivate their culture. Majid began assisting his father however he could, learning to create and mold clay quite quickly. By the age of 5, he'd created sculptures that were worthy of purchase, though his father encouraged him to keep his work as a memorial. Malik was proud of his son, and with the revenue they'd already grown accustom to, there was no need to sell the prized work of his only child. Sari, Malik's wife, cherished the fact that Malik took an interest in their child's life; far too often work comes first in the eyes of the father, but their family remained quite tight.
When he wasn't creating art with his father, or by himself for his mother, Majid spent his time reading (and studying). It was an unspoken rule that the children of aristocrats were to be educated to the highest caliber. Rather than attending public classes, they were provided with private tutors and instructors to better their overall learning experience. Much to his delight, Majid was easily intrigued, finding various topics (especially those revolving around religion, history, and human interaction) fascinating.
At the age of 7, he was given a private exam which would determine whether or not he'd be eligible to become a Shinobi. If he passed, Majid and Sari decided they would leave their home in order to provide Majid with an environment that was more conducive to peace and tranquility. If he failed, they would stay as long as they could, contributing to their community as an enterprise. Majid was equally excited for either outcome. Either he'd learn to be a warrior, like those he read about in his favorite novels, or he would work alongside with his father as an equal, finally able to contribute to the family business. Due to his strong work ethic and determination, he was able to pass the Genin exams with relative ease, though he struggled on many of the more physical aspects. Alas, their clan was not known for their Taijutsu proficiency.
While readying themselves for their journey to the outskirts of Iwagakure, riots broke out within the ranks of their clan. Malik advocated for peace, detailing his humble beginnings, hard work, and current success as reasons for those to abide by the system in place as it could lead to prominence. His words were not received well. While his family was out for the day, their house was bombed by a group of angry rioters. Fearing for their safety, Malik took what was left of their possessions, relocating their family in Konohagakure. The move was quite smooth as the quality of his work knew no boundaries, and business boomed almost immediately upon their arrival.
"What a colorful history..." A single tear fell from her left eye, carving a light rivulet in her ivory skin. "He's so young and he's seen so much, so optimistic." Sitting back in her chair, she began organizing her papers, preparing herself for the next day. "I can't wait to see what life has in store for him."
