Aeris was never one to be discouraged by adults when warned against meandering into areas that she shouldn't. She wanted what she wanted and with no parents to tell her otherwise it was a rare occasion to have someone berate her choices. Today was no different as she stood in the quiet alley. It was perhaps only a block or two away from the Anbu Headquarters, not that she could see that from her current position between the two rows of building that made up the alley. The multistory structures cast a constant shadow on the dirt path that seem to ward off the desert sun even at the ends where the alley met more proper streets. She was silently mulling over what her instructors had said, she had shown some reasonable aptitude for medical jutsu. In fact one of her teachers had told her outright to give up on taijutsu and that she would have a easier time just being a medical ninja. Aeris didn't exactly want that though, if anything she wanted to at least try to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a fighter. So after nights of mulling over books in the academy she found a way to turn her aptitude, if she could even call it that, for medical jutsu into a weapon.
The biggest problem that she faced now was not the technique required, but a external force to act upon her. She could sit in the alley all day and funnel her chakra into her hand if she wanted, but with nothing to put her scalpel up against she had no idea if she was shaping the chakra into the correct shape or if the chakra itself would even stop an attack. She tried throwing pebbles at a wall to make them bounce back at her but they could never make it any closer than landing pitifully at her feet. As she paced up and down the alley Aeris rubbed her chin in a exaggerated manner, like a old man conjuring up some fortune cookie wisdom to spit out, when she noticed a crack in one of the buildings. Aeris was clever, she put together what she thought was a brilliant plan almost instantly. Taking a kunai out of one of her pouches she twirled it around and wedged the handle into the crack so the pointed tip was facing her. She took a few steps back and once more funneled her chakra into her left hand until it was coated with a faintly glowing blue light then reared back and thrust her hand forward.
The first attempt went about as well as anyone could expect from the worst student in her class. The chakra around her hand dissipated almost instantly like fog being blown away by a stiff breeze. Her hand sinking about a inch onto the pointed metal spike and causing a small spurt of blood to splatter against the wall. She blinked for a moment, registering the total failure of her first attempt before she lurched back with rather drunken motion and clutched her bleeding palm with her right hand. She danced lightly on her feet for a moment, hopping up and down as her sotto voce voice let out mild little curses. After the delayed shock of stabbing herself subsided she slumped down against the wall opposite of the kunai and stared at the wound with her sleepy eyes. She could mend the admittedly small cut herself after a few moments of work but that didn't leave her any closer to figuring this new technique out, and she really did not feel inclined to keep throwing her hands at the kunai...
