Fuuton: Sakasa Houi no Jutsu (Wind Release: Reverse Direction Technique)
Rank: "D", "C", "B", "A", "S"
Skill: Ninjutsu, Counter Defense
Effect: Creates a great tunnel of wind which reverses the direction of an oncoming attack.
Special: "Hand Seals"
Drawback: Does not effect Taijutsu or Genjutsu.
Description: By performing the correct hand seals, the user will channel chakra along the lengths of both of his or her arms. Then, when an attack is incoming, the user will extend both of their arms and release the swirling tunnel of wind towards the attack. The wind will envelop the attack and then drag it backwards towards the opposite direction. The reversed attack can only travel for five meters for every rank of the technique that the user has, plus an additional ten meters if the user becomes a Wind Master. Requires the user to have the same rank of this technique as the rank of the technique that is being countered.
Limit: Must have the Wind Release.
0/10
Hitori was in his typical mood, unnaturally peppy with a ravenous need to learn something new. His master had recently showed off a wind technique that was perfect for his defensive play style - Hitori liked to see as many forms of jutsu as possible and playing defensively made it so that his opponent would have to exhaust many techniques. The technique that had been shown to him was known as the "Wind Release: Reverse Direction." It seemed to be able to push an opponents jutsu back at them to a certain extent, at least it could be used to stop it.
Arriving at his usual training grounds, a small open field across from a riverbank, he began to recollect exactly how his teacher had done the trick in the first place. It was all rather simple in theory, all he needed to do was build up enough chakra, do the proper hand signs and then push both of his arms outwards of his body channeling a small funnel of wind that would push away anything coming towards him. He took a seat about ten meters away from a wall of trees which were constantly losing leaves in the heavy and turbulent breeze.
The leaves would be his target, and the breeze would be his opponent. He felt a few leaves brush against his shoulders as he closed his eyes and began to focus on gathering an appropriate amount of chakra for this genin level technique. Hitori always struggled with gathering chakra, but he was hopeful that this would be an accurate amount. His hands instinctively wove the correct hand signs from mere memory and, while taking a deep breath, he fiercely pushed his arms away from his body and a short faucet of wind poured away from his body, funneling towards the treeline and knocking away a few leaves in it's wake.
The technique sort of worked, but it was obvious that he did not properly follow through somehow. The tunnel was too narrow and the wind itself felt to be too weak and lifeless enough to push away even a simple jutsu. A small frown appeared on his face as he tried to think of what he had done wrong, perhaps he had only used a fraction of the required amount of chakra. He got to his feet and concentrated heavily on the amount of chakra he was trying to expend. This time, he nearly doubled the amount of chakra that he used previously before using the proper handsigns and activating the jutsu by pushing his arms outwards.
This time, he was fully aware that the technique worked as intended, however he felt more drained of stamina than usual. He must have forced out too much chakra, which successfully activated the technique but was rather wasteful. There was not much to do about his inability to properly regulate his chakra control except for trial and error. As usual, "third times the charm" was stuck in the back of his mind. He lowered his chakra output and tried to calm everything down, he didn't want to expend all of his chakra but he didn't want to leave here without learning this technique first.
Hitori wasn't completely sure of himself but sometimes that was the best way for him to learn a new jutsu, by guessing and checking. He pushed his arms away from his body and a swift, rotating tunnel of wind flew outwards knocking back all of the leaves that had been fluttering towards him. He chuckled a little as he saw it, and was certain that this technique would come in handy in the future. "Sweet," he said. "Now I just need to practice this against a real ninjutsu!"
