Miyagi walked quickly through the streets on the South-West end of town, looking for the old tea and coffee shop to which he'd just been assigned. Following instructions, he'd walked over from his room near the Kage Tower and made a left at the Obelisk, but when he finally arrived at the corner where he'd thought the tea shop should be there were only houses. Walking on for some time, always keeping his eyes peeled, he eventually turned to a little shop keeper, sitting outside his antiques store smoking a pipe, and asked him, reading off his mission paper Hello sir, do you know where I can find "Aunt Nora's Tea and Coffee"? The man nodded and kindly directed him back to the same corner at which Miyagi had stopped just before. But I only saw houses there, do I just walk in? Miyagi asked, quite confused. The man chuckled and after another long drag on his pipe, said Sonny, that place has been open since before your father was born! There was once a smiling frog with a tea cup painted on the door, but you can scarcely make it out at this point! and as Miyagi thanked him and walked away he ended shouting House on the very corner!
Once back at the designated spot, Miyagi looked puzzled at the houses for a moment, wondering why the door hadn't ever been repainted, and how they expected to get any customers. Suddenly, the door at the very corner swung open and a man in a suit backed out of it quickly, chased swiftly by an very old woman with a broom held-up menacingly. The man turned and walked off looking slightly amused but muttering under his breath Crazy goat!
After having taken a moment to take in what he'd witnessed, Miyagi slowly walked-up the front steps, and saw that a faint shape of a frog could made-out on the door where the paint must have been. Hesitantly at first, he pulled the door open and stepped inside.
The place was fairly busy, given the early hour in the day. There were small tables and couches or floor pillows laid out wherever they could fit, and a good number of them were occupied. Miyagi guessed that at full house, the tea shop could probably host upwards of 40 people.
The old woman had just made her way back behind the counter and stood hunched and looking out over the shop with a stone gaze, like a living gargoyle. The scariest part, was that she was looking directly at him!
For the small thing that she was, she sure was scary. Get a grip of yourself! thought Miyagi as he approached her, Hello, I'm here bec-. She cut him off, scolding: You're 10 minutes late! Now come around behind the counter. Miyagi walked around slowly, almost wondering if would be getting a spanking. As he joined her, the woman whistled loudly across the shop, and a young girl, maybe 25, who'd been talking with one of the customers, a tray of dirty cups over her shoulder, came waltzing over.
Oooh! New guy! she said gleefully, And you're sooo cuute!. Miyagi was more than a little annoyed at this, but he'd take it over the old woman's aggressiveness. Show him around, like I told you. The two were like night and day.
Yes ma'am! she answered, then, turning back to Miyagi she introduced herself I'm Miki, by the way! Before he could respond, aunt Nori (because Miyagi at this point assumed she was indeed the aunt Nori) started shouting at another man who'd just walked in. Miyagi could help but laugh a little at the irony This must be the most stressful tea shop I've ever seen he thought.
