City of Eastport: Kazetora
Stepping over the last hill you saw it: Eastport, the city you had been looking for. Standing on the small hill, barely five meters above the rest of the landscape you could see the city walls rise above about thirty meters from you, twelve meters high they would dwarf the steady stream of people coming and going below. Black flags with a gold and crimson chevron flew from the ramparts, showing that you were at the correct place. Armoured guards seemed to patrol the walls and stand watch on the tower. Climbing unseen over the city would be difficult. Travellers were coming from other parts and cities on the island, creating a steady stream of people and carts that was going back and forth between the city gates and the horizon.
In the distance you could see the city guards at the gates. They were doing something to everyone trying to enter the city, waving a stick past the men, women and carts trying to come in. Then everyone was guided past a few men clad in thick brown hooded robes that seemed to inspect everyone meticulously. As a result of whatever rigorous checks these were the flux of people coming towards the gates was larger than the amount of people actually going through the gates. There was a line gathering in front of the gates about twenty meters long that was still growing. On the east side of the gates, about fifteen meters from the wall an encampment seemed to have sprung up of twenty five off tents. Probably people who assumed they were not going to get through today and decided instead to settle in relatively comfortably for the night. Above this encampment more than the usual amount of guards seemed to patrol the walls though. A tussle occurred at the front of the line, one of the robed people for some reason seemed not to approve of one of the travellers and the guards had bore down on the woman who seemed to have wanted to form handseals frantically before being pressed to the road and manacles were clapped around her wrists on her back. These people were not kidding around, considering they just took down someone intent on using chakra with nothing but team effort.
It was about five o’clock at this point, since it was summer the sun still shone, just not as brightly. Bells started to toil in the city and you could see dark smoke rise from somewhere near what seemed to be a religious building in the centre of the city, denoted by its tall tower. Nobody seemed spooked though so this seemed to be business as usual. Whatever the case these people were not kind to people they did not welcome in their city for some reason. Above the gate a set of spikes protruded, three meters long on which four bodies were impaled, trying to determine what kind of people these had been would however be nigh impossible from this distance. All clearly dead and in decay for a few weeks. At least these people knew how to decorate. Would you care though? All you knew was what you came here to do. You had to find someone named Ulcer Bockma, get some information from him that was apparently important to your village and bring it back. Nothing too difficult right? Just another simple boring mission.
