A caltrop is a 4-pronged iron spike crafted so that one prong faces up no matter how the caltrop comes to rest. The user scatters caltrops on the ground in the hope that the opponent steps on them or at least forced to slow down to avoid them. 1 slot of caltrops cover an area 2 meter squared. Each time a creature moves into an area covered by caltrops or spends a round fighting while standing in an area, they may step on one. If the opponent steps on a caltrop the Caltrop deals 1 Armour Points of Damage, and the opponent's movements is reduced by 1/2 because its foot is wounded. This movement penalty lasts for 24 hours, or until the creature is treated with a First Aid: Healing Hard Check, or they are healed from minor wounds. Character Depth
Personality: To most that do not know him, he seems brash and self-centered, but his few friends know otherwise. He believes that by acting tough he can get respect and be seen as a warrior. The drive to prove his worth as a warrior is further fueled by those that pick on him because of his effeminate appearance. Those that try to get to really get to know him can easily see the fierce loyalty to those that are close to him. This compassion is readily shown when he is healing someone, though he can only cure pretty minor injuries.
In what free-time he has, he loves to explore around town and the swamps outside the gate in his neighborhood. It is his favorite way to calm his mind and relax as not many other people like to go out there. He has memorized miles in all directions and has in more than one occasion snuck out and hid in the swamps to avoid someone he didn’t like or want to deal with. He loves to explore the area and learn its various paths and learn the area surrounding his village. Moving through the swamps have become second nature to him because he often spends hours out and about if he is able to.
His time working in the local clinic has left a lasting impact on his moral character. Seeing many in harm has left him with a positive duty to help those that he believes to be in trouble, even going out of his way to do so. He will give what skills and help he can, only saying no when something is impossible or prevents his schooling/job and basic living. What patients he was allowed to see himself loved him for this for they felt at ease because of the emotional and trustworthy connection. He enjoyed the work he was able to do, but struggled with and stressed because he was not able to do more than set bones and heal scrapes and bruises.
His biggest flaw, and maybe his greatest asset as well, is his abstinent nature. Once he sets his mind on a plan or idea, it is almost impossible to change his mind. Before going on any trip or starting a project he sets up a plan or outline and it is difficult to change his mind. He doesn't want to ruin whatever is being done, but grumbles, complains, and tries to nudge the new plan closer to the original idea. This has caused many to not want to work with him, but has also helped drive his determination that helped him rise to the top tier in his class. The jeers and criticism of others is what motivates him the most, as he wants to prove that he can be a strong warrior.
At first glance it is easy to see that he is an honest person. He tells everyone what is on his mind, which further contributes to his abrasive image, and he is trusting in others to the point where he is unable to tell when people are joking or lying to him. Because of this, he has become the butt of many jokes around the academy and with the kids in his neighborhood; thus, is more wary around kids his age. His honesty makes him lean more towards following the law, because he believes breaking laws could hurt someone, but will always go with what he fells is right and good for those around him.
Katsuro is slim, but slightly muscular for his age. He is in the middle of his growth spurt; so, what tone he has is small, but he is proud of what tone he has. He likes to start the day with a few exercises; push-ups, crunches, et cetera. There is some tone to his muscles that he likes to show off to those he feels comfortable around; however, he likes to wear longer and slightly loose fitting clothing. This makes him look scrawnier than he is and gets in the way of movement because his clothing gets caught on edges and branches.
He takes the same, if not a greater, amount of care of his hair as his body. He likes to keep his smooth, shiny, black hair about mid-back, but uses his transformation technique while in town to make his hair shorter. While it is long, he lets his hair stay its natural slightly wavy shape and lets it cover his ears. While short, he likes to keep it spiked. No matter how he has it, he always takes pride in taking care of it and is always worried how it looks to others and will be caught time-to-time looking at it in a mirror or water to take a quick glance and mess with it a little.
His face can be best described as fair and diamond-shaped. He makes sure to keep his face clean and it is nearly spotless and acne free which is rare for someone his age, especially one who spends so much time outside. His skin is a pale white and smooth, but what most people notice right away is his eyes. They are a gray color and have a blueish tent to them. Some people have wondered about his eyes because they seem to change color depending on the lighting of the area and clothes he wares.
Despite some of his best efforts, Katsuro reflexively shows his expressions and feelings with his facial expressions and his body language. This is partially why he hides his face to those he does not know. He has a large amount of control over his facial muscles which helps him make an array of expressions. He has many expressions: his eyes open wide when he is excited, he smiles wide and raises his forehead when happy, etc. He often gets embarrassed about this and catches his expressions from time-to-time and will go from expressive to a completely straight face.
His favorite outfit is a standard vest and trousers underneath some robes. His robes are black with purple trimming and he keeps the hood pulled back and town and uses it to cover his face outside. He keeps his short swords on his back with the handles slanted to the left so that they can be reached and drawn with his right hand. He keeps a claw that can be attached to his left hand, but only attaches it to his gauntlet while out of town. Finally, he wears calf-high boots that tie up tight to protect his legs from parasites and infections from the swamps.
Background:
Not much is known about Katsuro's family's past. He is currently living with his aunt and uncle on his dad's side, Kasumi and Jirou that live in the slums of the village near the swamps. Katsuro has asked many times about his parents, but he only gets a sullen stare and is asked to change the subject. Both parents are living with family on his mom's side and have long retired after going mad during a high rank mission. When cognizant, the most communication given is that of gibberish or incoherent screams.
He suspects something horrific has happened by the looks that he gets from his family and how they pushed him away from joining the ninja academy and to become a full-time Medical Doctor when he showed talent at an early age to be able to pick up medical jutsu and first-aid skills. This, however, had pushed him further to become a ninja and to one day develop his own style to blend medicine with ninjutsu. His family worries about Katsuro becoming a ninja as they fear that he may meet the same end as his parents.
When he had the time during academy training and for two years after graduation he studied under a small group of village doctors after the large amount of pressure put on him to do so. During this time, he became close friends with one of the other young doctors there, Hyotaru Shimizu. Hyotaru's parents made it big as merchants within the main city; thus, has many stories of traveling throughout the world. These stories amazed Katsuro and regained his passion for rejoining the registry as a ninja. With help from Hyotaru, Katsuro convenced his family into accepting his decision to return as a ninja under the guise that his medical knowledge is needed elsewhere, because the greatest trauma happens in the field and every team needs a good doctor.
One day while playing in the swamps after work, Katsuro learned about his ability to harden and cool water to ice. He rushed home to tell his aunt who only looked at him in shock and told him, in fear of him being targeted, to not mention this to anyone else. This, however, only peeked his curiosity and began to look around the main village where he learned about the Kaishin. He secretly joined their registry and got his Shirayuki swords and was told to await his first mission.
With the fires of his passion rekindled, he started looking around the village and observing the other ninja in the village. Among the topped ranked and most prestigious groups are the cat division Ansatu Butai Forces that often wonder and patrol throughout the village. The skilled and quick movements of the cat division appealed to him because they had shown him that he can still be powerful and useful as a taijutsu specialist. Their graceful movements are what really captivated him. He knows that he will eventually have to kill, but would rather do it cleanly when needed and use quick movements to incapacitate if able. Katsuro aspires one day to join their ranks as a skilled assassin, officer, and healer.

He suspects something horrific has happened by the looks that he gets from his family and how they pushed him away from joining the ninja academy and to become a full-time Medical Doctor when he showed talent at an early age to be able to pick up medical jutsu and first-aid skills. This, however, had pushed him further to become a ninja and to one day develop his own style to blend medicine with ninjutsu. His family worries about Katsuro becoming a ninja as they fear that he may meet the same end as his parents.
When he had the time during academy training and for two years after graduation he studied under a small group of village doctors after the large amount of pressure put on him to do so. During this time, he became close friends with one of the other young doctors there, Hyotaru Shimizu. Hyotaru's parents made it big as merchants within the main city; thus, has many stories of traveling throughout the world. These stories amazed Katsuro and regained his passion for rejoining the registry as a ninja. With help from Hyotaru, Katsuro convenced his family into accepting his decision to return as a ninja under the guise that his medical knowledge is needed elsewhere, because the greatest trauma happens in the field and every team needs a good doctor.
One day while playing in the swamps after work, Katsuro learned about his ability to harden and cool water to ice. He rushed home to tell his aunt who only looked at him in shock and told him, in fear of him being targeted, to not mention this to anyone else. This, however, only peeked his curiosity and began to look around the main village where he learned about the Kaishin. He secretly joined their registry and got his Shirayuki swords and was told to await his first mission.
With the fires of his passion rekindled, he started looking around the village and observing the other ninja in the village. Among the topped ranked and most prestigious groups are the cat division Ansatu Butai Forces that often wonder and patrol throughout the village. The skilled and quick movements of the cat division appealed to him because they had shown him that he can still be powerful and useful as a taijutsu specialist. Their graceful movements are what really captivated him. He knows that he will eventually have to kill, but would rather do it cleanly when needed and use quick movements to incapacitate if able. Katsuro aspires one day to join their ranks as a skilled assassin, officer, and healer.
