Shiki woke up early. It was close to 6AM. By 7 he would need to take off and start his patrol on the village. Shiki sat up and started to stretch. It was a good stretch, one that you would hold for a good long while. Letting out a long yawn Shiki stood to his feet. Shiki was disgruntled with waking up. He really just hated getting out of bed. Standing to his feet Shiki walked over to the window still clad in his silk sleepwear. Shiki felt mentally tired still yet physically refreshed.
Shiki felt his feet run along the smooth stone as he walked over to the window. With a long sigh of indifference he gazed into the valley below. The field was starting to come alive with the morning sunrise. Shiki couldn't help but feel pensive looking at the vegetation in the valley. It was a sight he used to watch all the time as a kid growing up in this manor. His grandfather was something of a war hero in the village before the war with the Gale. Before he let himself get too sentimental he began to ready his gear.
Opening up his wardrobe he pulled out his black and grey cloak. It was a simple garment but still it was embossed with yellow linen inlaid inside the cloak. From a distance it would be mistaken for a common cloak but up close on inspection it would be apparent that Shiki was one who came from a well off family. Laying it on his bed Shiki started to get dressed.
Around fifteen minutes later Shiki stepped out into the streets ready to begin his patrol. The pathway down from his section of the city took about fifteen minutes to walk from the high rises the guard captain that would be issuing Shiki's patrol around the village today. Shiki was tired of these missions. Shiki really wanted to see some action today.
The sun was just coming over the city walls as Shiki continued his decent down the stone road. Shiki looked around as he entered the market place. The shops had not yet opened and there was few people out in the streets. A few shop keepers were moving here or there getting ready for a day of sales. Shiki was new to village patrols. But he was certain anywhere where commerce is made crime will be present. Shiki was certain he would have to come back through here a few times during the patrol.
Shiki kept up his pace. The sun was rising in the East and was shining directly into his eyes as he walked. With his visibility reduced by the brightness Shiki was experiencing discomfort. Pulling his hood over his head he kept the sun out of his eyes but still obstructed his vision.
Shiki finally reached the guard post. After a short conversation the Guard handed Shiki his orders and he went on his way. Shiki decided he would start patrolling through the west part of the city to keep the sun on his back.
As Shiki walked through the western residential district he realized that this would provide a
A good opportunity for him to practice threat assessment. As Shiki was entering the west wing of the city there was a large walkway and a narrow alley that lead into the main road in the residential area. The narrow alleyway was flanked by high walls in case guards or archers needed to control a choke point in the city. Using his wall running ability Shiki ran up the side of the wall and got onto the catwalk above the residences. A birds eye view of the city was much more important especially in regards to watching over the city.
Shiki felt the cold mountain wind blow against him from the top of the catwalk. Shiki loved the feeling. The wind brought smells from the market district who's kitchens had come alive preparing morning meals. Shiki started walking overhead the residential area looking for anything that warranted his attention. The district seemed quiet. There was a flurry of activitty as residents were taking garbage bins out to the street, leaving for work and generally doing house keeping tasks or chores. Shiki watched as a woman began to hang her wet laundry on a line.
Looks like nothing to report on this end. Shiki took out his notebook and jotted down:
West end- Nothing out of the ordinary.
Shiki then decided it was time to head north toward the Raikage's tower. These grounds were normally patrolled as a formality. There were so many high ranking Shinobi coming in and out of the tower that having a low ranking ninja like himself didn't provide much more in the way of security. But at the very least Shiki was a fresh set of eyes. Moving along the catwalk Shiki moved onto the road. The climb toward the Kage's tower was a long walk up a hill. Shiki noted how easily defended the tower could be in the case of an invasion. Shiki couldn't help but feel proud as he gazed at the tower. The tower was the eyes of the village and Shiki represented the will of the Kage.
Shiki Finally got to the tower entrance and kept walking. There was a hustle and bustle as ninja moved in and out of the Tower. There was a hurried man who seemed to be carrying bags of food into the tower. There was a friendly aura in the air despite all the serious characters. Despite that though Shiki couldn't help but feel a little bit paranoid as he walked past the tower. I really don't know all the ninja in the village. I don't know most these people. It's difficult to actually know what their intentions are. In fact any one of these people could suddenly attack someone.
