Shiki had never seen anything so beautiful in his life. There stretched out for leagues and leagues was an endless amount of water. The waves were crashing down in a frenzy of white water. Bringing the salty smell of brine and the strong sea's air across his face. Shiki had never seen anything like it. Up ahead on the shore was a dock that was bustling with movement. There were all sorts of seedy folk moving along the dock. Some merchants, fishermen and other men and women who made their living on the sea. This particular water way was a passageway from the river running through the village of Athos into the strait of water between the Jikoku-ton Ocean and the Sea of Tydeous.
Traveling to the land of Umi no Kuni to approach Taro island Shiki figured it was within his best interest to get there sooner rather than later. Shiki pulled his cloak down revealing his white hair and kyoudo birthmarks. He would need to find passage way to the island for a rather cheap price. The cost of his equipment had him much less well off then he would have liked. Shiki had just under 17.000 Ryo. He wasn't sure how far that would last as he continued his adventure. Shiki made the decent toward the docks with his eyes wide with adventure.
Walking along the dock was even more of an adventure. Shiki watched all the unusual sights with gleaming eyes. Large ships with masts as tall as trees. These massive ships were as large as small towers or buildings. There were several smaller ships being pulled into port and smaller vessels ferrying in a large trade galleon that was obviously used for deep sea trade. There were several Ballistic type weapons on the sides of the ships. Functioning like giant crossbow they were used to destroy smaller vessels. This crossbow could also be used to reel in other ships for boarding.
The dock was crowded filled with rope, crates, barrels and other seafare being moved and bustled onto the dock while other goods were being brought on board. There was a official from the city of Aramis walking with two armed guards collecting docking fees and monitoring the exchange of goods. Shiki stepped past two sailors unloading a heavy crate as they bustled past them. Men joked and cheered with one another, their spirits high after seeing land and moving towards the tavern at the end of the dock.
Shiki smiled as he felt the cheer from the sounds of the tavern in the distance. Shiki figured if there was anywhere where he could get good information or a good deal for passage way it would be there in the tavern. Shiki frowned. He realized that there was no way they would let a kid into the tavern. Shiki gave a weak smile. He would have to figure something out if he was going to get this done.
