Scent
Rank: "A"
Skill: TaiJutsu
Effect: This extraordinary special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: The creature can detect opponents within 10-meters by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 20-meters; if downwind, it drops to 5-meters. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at x2 the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk, can be detected at x3 normal range. When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a movement to note the direction of the scent. Whenever the creature comes within 2-meters of the source, the creature pinpoints the source’s location. When finding Herbs and Animals (random), Scent may improve searching for them (must have Scent of object previously before searching). Learning "D" Rank allows the user to search for Common things, while "S" for Nearly Impossible. Each rank user learns increases chance of finding by 2% for the Rank of Herb, and increases per Rank thereafter. Example: At "S" Rank User gains 10% increase chance in finding Common Herbs and Animals but only 2% Increase for Nearly Impossible Herbs and Animals.
Limit: Must be an Animal, Fey, Monster, or Vermin. Innate Animal Jutsu.

Zuruel slowly pushed himself off the ground as his sense of smell warned him of the approaching danger. Little by little, the flames burned through the oils and cotton in each wick before climbing their way up to the gunpowder filled detonator. “Not real.” He told himself as his sensitive sense of smell picked up on the soil and coldness in the air. Despite an explosion having just occurred, he could no longer smell any gun powder residue. The air wasn’t even warm. It was cold and damp, a huge contradiction between this world and the real one.
“Focus…” Zuruel told himself as the smouldering flames reached the detonator and ignited the gunpowder. A powerful scent then filled the air as two red-hot cannonballs exploded forwards. The hot iron was distinctive. Based on the trajectory of the scent and the wind, Zuruel knew that both cannonballs were aimed for him. One slightly towards the left and one towards the right. He couldn’t dodge. “This is fake.” He told himself as he took in a deep breath of air and focused on the scents. After focusing hard enough, the scent of iron and gunpowder was beginning to fade. As this happened, he kept his eyes shut and focused. “This is Genjutsu.” He chanted to himself.
Several seconds passed and he wasn’t dead. The faint whiff of hot iron was still in the air, but somehow, it hadn’t reached him yet. “Focus…” He told himself as his sense of smell focused on fast approaching rot. Likely, zombie reinforcements. “Wait what is that smell…” Zuruel nostrils picked up on the whiff of sewage. Instantly, Zuruel began coughing rather violently. It took all his willpower to remain conscious after taking in a scent that foul. As his eyes teared up, they opened slightly to reveal a maze filled with crystal walls and an oversized buffoon standing directly in front of him. The Genjutsu was broken and he was now back in the real world. “Alma… WHAT IN BLAZES!?”
