The Octagon Chapel
Hidden within the magical forest of Hot Springs, sits a chapel. It is known throughout Hot Springs as The Octagon Chapel. Not much is known about this place other than it is occupied by a religious group of unknown Origin. This group worships a Goddess that is simple known as The Mother. The Chapel is run by Sisters and Brothers of the faith. They are over seen by the Sister Superior, also known as Sister Mavis. Under her guidance they provided shelter, and succor for all those who seek it. While they do not ask for money, donations are encouraged... vigorously.
They also help the Locals by allowing them to post up jobs, that any roaming hunter or ninja would be so kind as to take. These Jobs are left up for Hunters to take as they please, all the Chapel ask in return, is a 10% donation from your earnings. These jobs more often than not consist of Monster extermination. Sister Mavis is also known for giving blessings to those that request them. Generous donations, have been known to be reciprocated with very generous blessings. They have been known to trade, forged items, and potions for favors, or substantial donations.
They are a mysterious group, with their over all goals being an even bigger mystery. However the Locals have embraced them as they have not pushed for conversion on the people in the land, they are always open and honest about who they serve and what their purpose is, and so far their presences has done far more good than harm. The true secretes of this place or kept behind locked doors and hidden pathways, to which only Sisters and Brothers of the faith has excess to. With the even Dark Secretes being held exclusively by Sister Mavis herself.
Traveling along the pathway through the forest of Hot Spring, you will eventually come upon a clearing. In that clearing will sit a rather large Chapel. However in between you in and that Chapel will be a lavish garden, adorned and decorated with lovely statues and fountains. You will see at less one of the Sisters, or Brothers tending to the garden. They will greet you with a bow and a blessing, as you make your way towards the Chapels Doors. To the left of those large wooden doors you will see a bulletin board. On it will be requests written by the locals who are praying for assistance, and hope that church will bless them with help.
Once you have walked through those doors, you will be smacked in the face by the scent of lilac and gooseberries. The Inside of the Chapel will be as breath taking as it's outside. With its' inside clearly in the shape of an Octagon it would be easy to understand where it got it's name. And altar could be seen up front, resting on top of a glorious red rug. Underneath that rug hidden from the site of everyone is a Ritual Circle. This is where the Sister bestow their blessings on those kind enough to donate, or who are in desperate need. There are two sets of stairs towards the back of the Chapel.
Both of these Stairs lead to the second floor. This floor is made up of mostly storage rooms that hold items used for mass, and morning prays. However there is one door here towards the back that is both locked and hidden. Only Sister Superior herself has the key, and knowledge to Access this room. On the outside of the church in the back, is the Hostel. This is were all those who seek shelter, can rest. These rooms are usually occupied by the homeless looking for a place to stay, and by traveling hunters seeking a quick place to rest. The Hostel is equipped with a kitchen, that is stocked with food, and a bath.
The last area which is also one of the most mysterious, is the food storage Located just out of the Hostel. The Octagon Chapel, gets a constant influx of donations of money food, and other such items. The small storage space is usually over flowing by days end, and yet the next morning, the coffers seem to be nearly empty. The locals have been assured that the goods are going to people that need them, and they are encouraged to continue their generous donations, so that they may continue to spread their kindness.
