Ai Hanmi (Mutual Stance)
Rank: "E"
Skill: TaiJutsu
Effect: Hanmi in Aikido is a triangular stance with the front foot facing forward and the rear foot perpendicular to the front, facing sideways.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Picture It is important to have the right foot work in most instances. One's success in executing Aikido techniques depends on the proper Hanmi. Triangular stance. Most often aikido techniques are practiced with the opponent in predetermined stances. This is to facilitate learning the techniques and certain principles of positioning with respect to an attack. At higher levels, specific Hanmi cease to be of much importance. The user and the opponent have same foot forward.
Limit: Must learn from an Aikido Master.
Tetsu wasn't normally one to work out or train, but his past failure of the KMP physical examinations, previously not an issue, would look like an embarrassment to his partner who was a taijutsu perfectionist. Getting into his Opposite stance, Tetsu prepared himself as his Sensei offered him his hand getting into a similar stance but opposing his own. They both wore Aikidogi; however Tetsu's Lacked the Hakama as he was only but a white belt. Getting into the posture, he raised his hands up, moving his right foot forward, maintaining the triangular posture as his posture was now even with his teacher, his balanced footing and hand position both palms open and held in an up and down maneuverable position as he edged forward slightly, switching back to an opposite stance again as he prepared for another movement. It was simple and well timed, but alas Tetsu wasn't a master of the art, he was still repeating the stance over and over again to get it right as he was simply observed, being slightly corrected on the occasion as he was very calculated in how he did each move, doing his best to remain focused as he let his teacher adjust his feet so that they were exactly perpendicular and his legs were balanced more properly.
The now changing stance as Tetsu practiced the movement from the opposite stance to the mutual stance; which was the basic of doing Aikido. Tetsu watched his teacher doing the same motion Kata as he mimicked him in the same way that he could mimic things using his memory. He was moving in a finite way as he took a moment to inhale as he moved back and forth, his bare feet being slid along the hard dojo floor as he prepared himself for more advanced techniques. If he could eventually master these techniques, he could eventually pass the hand to hand combat examinations that the KMP surely required. He would prove to Claire that he could be strong, even if he wasn't very strong inherently.
