Mixing things is truly where alchemy gets complex. The effects of Elder Snake venom? Well known. The effects of Mammoth Blood? Well documented. The effects of a mixture? Unknown. Utterly unstudied. The basic study of herbalist and animists has come far. Most individual substances have been studied. But when combining items and chakra and other items, the number of possible combinations quickly approaches infinite. The mixologist is the true alchemist, in today’s world.
The other weird thing is, substances act on each other. They don’t just both interact with their intended target. For example, a healing potion of tremendous effect, with a little bit of Snake Venom added to it, could be expected to be absolutely neutral, yes? That would be your first instinct. But you do not understand organic chemistry. Many of the active ingredients in that healing potion are organic in nature. Can we predict their behavior?
I know this - Snake Venom is rather acidic, and designed to destroy organic compounds of every time. I would most likely expect that the mixture I described above would render the healing potion generally useless. However, I am also aware that there are basic ingredients in some healing potions. Those would likely neutralize the acid components of the snake venom. But, the snake venom described does not depend upon the pH of it’s solution to operate. Therefore, I would suspect the mixture to be deadly and hard to detect.
