Village Patrol (Ikana Miyamoto Mission #1)

Name: Village patrol (day time).

IIC Length: 1 day

Difficulty: Easy.

Description: Patrolling around the village during the day! The day patrol includes moving between any shops to watch for thievery as well as moving about various sections of town to ensure that people are not entering in areas where they should not be. Any civil disputes should be handled fairly, as any reports of things being handled unfairly will make their way to the Raikage.

Objective: May be repeated three times.

Ensure safety of village. Patrol as much of the village as possible. Return with status report.

Personnel requirements: 1-2 shinobis of any rank. May be performed in groups if one choose so. 

Reward: 4,000 ryo (3,250 for a non-nin).

Young Ikana Miyamoto had currently been located in the eastern end of the village of Kumogakure. She had been wondering where she was supposed to go to meet the ANBU, and had found on the piece of paper was a rendevue side note to meet near the front of the academy, one of the areas she was supposed to patrol. The little girl had packed a small backpack with a bento seeing she didn't know how long the patrol was going to be which she made herself. The cooking inside was...edible. Young Ikana had been wearing her usual garb of gauntlets, greaves, her jacket, vest, and her tanto on her back. She had been fully dressed for combat despite the fact her mission was going to be mostly patrolling and making sure people weren't goofing off where they weren't supposed to. 

The newly minted genin had looked left and right as she saw she was a couple minutes early, and so she kicked her foot left and right reading the slip she had on her. She had saw she was supposed to make sure that nobody was stealing anything, and that wasn't going to be a very big problem. She was sure she could be considered responsible enough to take care of this mission. The thought of earning her first every paycheck interested her, and she would make sure to save it or if she does spend it...she would use it wisely. She was young, but she hoped she could still perform this mission as well as any older genin. The young eight year old would try to observe everything around her and perhaps see if that ANBU was hiding around anywhere. Most likely the ANBU would explain to her a couple more directions of what exactly she should be looking for and doing for her mission before she would head out and do it herself. That was all fine and good. 

She had become a genin the day before yesterday, and so was of course highly inexperienced when it terms to actual work of a genin. One could say she had her head up in the clouds as she was immature and childish of what she thought the Shinobi business was all about. She knew she was supposed to be helping of the people of the village, but she also thought in the future anyways she would be viewed as a hero. However, when she thought of the word "hero" she imagined a knight slaying a dragon, or a person saving a country. She imagined someone shining in armor and with people cheering everywhere that person went. She never thought of herself as a real potential to be one until she did any of those things. Little did she know that even the duty she was about to do now made her a small hero in her own way because she was providing to the community and the people so that the country could flourish or at least have an easier time. Hopefully she would learn this someday.

It did not take long until the ANBU agent appeared. "Hey there" greeted the female as she approached the little girl. The kuinochi had amethyst purple hair tied up in a knot while her skin had a slight tan to it.
Her body was average in height while her frame was a bit athletic. She was wearing the standard ANBU winter uniform and an owl mask.

"You must be the Genin who's going to follow me on my patrol. Could I please see your ID plus your mission papers?" inquired the young woman. She rummaged around in her weapon pouch for hers.
It was standard procedure to identify oneself at the start of each mission. This made it a lot easier for the seniors to spot those who pretended to be their juniors.

Ikana had soon saw a purple hair ANBU appear wearing their mask of porcelain. It was a wonderful moment although she had frozen at the second looking into the owl mask. The ANBU had then broke the silence as she asked for her identification and her mission papers. Stopping for a second, the young girl nodded as she went through her jacket pocket taking out the mission slip as well as an identification card. Holding out each piece of paper, she had then shyly spoke. "You're one of the ANBU heroes. It's so cool to meet one in person!" She sounded excited as she felt very small in front of the ANBU. Well...smaller than she already was compared to most adults. She thought she was going to be working with a cat or a falcon, but maybe the receptionist made a minor error in that thought.

She had looked at the owl ANBU with a bright smile as she would then put her identification away followed by her mission slip after being approved. "So I get to work right next to a hero like you and then get paid for it too? Best day ever!" She had giggled for a second before trying to get back into her seriousness as she put both hands behind her back at ease. "Ahem. Let's get to work right ANBU-San?"

"You're one of the ANBU heroes. It's so cool to meet one in person!" told the girl while the female checked the ID plus the mission papers. They both looked good to her, so there was no need to worry.
"So I get to work right next to a hero like you and then get paid for it too? Best day ever!" squealed Ikana, making the ANBU smile a little.

"Ahem. Let's get to work, right ANBU-san?" inquired the younger female in a more serious voice.
"You got that one right Ikana-san. We're going to patrol this district today until about 3 PM. A new agent should arrive around that time" informed the woman.

"Your job will be to tell me if you see anything wrong. What we're looking for are people sneaking into houses, dogs that are running freely, people being attacked or people harming others in some way. Constant vigiliance is the key.
Next, we're going to work as a team to stop whatever is going on. You're NOT ALLOWED to stop a conflict or a person yourself without my help" told the owl agent.

The last sentence was said in a very firm voice. One thing she absolutely detested were small Genins trying to act as a hero and ending up ruining everything. A Genin had to be able to take orders as well as working in a team.
"Do you have any questions Ikana-san? You're allowed to ask what eye colour I have since I know yours" informed the female in a more neutral voice.

She couldn't tell that the ANBU smiled at her enthusiasm, but she simmered down especially when the next set of instructions came from the ANBU. They were going to be patrolling the village section until 3PM and someone would replace her spot afterwards. Simple enough. Her job composed of informing the ANBU of sneaking into houses, wandering pets, and any physical altercations between the villagers. The purple haired ANBU had made it VERY clear that she was not to face any problems by herself.

She nodded at every instruction finding them very easy to follow by, and she was asked if she had any questions for the ANBU. She decided to answer accordingly. "I understand all of the instructions, and what is your eye color? What do eye colors have to do with the mission miss?" She hadn't realized perhaps it might be because there are other types of ANBU with the same mask, and as a result Ikana might not be able to recognize them closely or something of that matter. The newly minted genin did have one other question however as a inexperienced genin. "After I do the mission, where do I go to collect my paycheck? Also, do I have to collect it right away?" The child was ready to start the mission with no real other questions as she wanted to experience what being a genin was like and what it was all about.

She planned hee daily agenda based off of what she was just informed. She was going to be working until roughly 3PM. Most likely she would eat her bento lunch right afterwards, go training her Raiton or perhaps some Taijutsu at a nearby training field, collect her payment, go home and read up on her books and take care of her home before going to sleep. She saw some of the other missions available and fighting two wild dogs sounded interesting. Perhaps she would take that arena mission sometime. She needed some actual combat training practice and so she could probably request that from the receptionist.

OOC:I already know the process, but for the sake of my character I asked seeing she I'd young and a new genin.

"I understand all of the instructions, and what is your eye color? What do eye colors have to do with the mission miss?" inquired the female. "I have brown eyes. The reason why you need to know is because there are several ANBU agents here. And there may be some pretending to be me in order to fool you" replied the young woman.

"After I do the mission, where do I go to collect my paycheck? Also, do I have to collect it right away?" asked Ikana.
"You will get your pay at the Raikage tower. The executives would prefer you to collect it today or tomorrow since this is an easy mission" informed the ANBU. They would start their patrol right away since they had no time to waste.

"We're going to check the area here first. If you find something unusual, let me know. I'll cover the area behind the shop while you cover the front" stated the female.
The area around the shop would not take long to check since there was nothing odd there. But this was a part of their job nevertheless.

So now she knew why the eye colors might be important for, but it seemed like it would take more than a mask to trick the girl seeing the ANBU in front of her had distinctly purple hair. The fact she said other ANBU might pretend to be her to trick her didn't sound nice at all. She had also learned that her eye color was brown which made sense seeing it was a common if not the most common eye color. If some were pretending to be her, she might need more than an eye color to identify them anywho. Ikana was sure she wouldn't need to worry about it probably. Most likely this mission wouldn't be too hard based off the next instructions.

She was to approach the front of a store and check the front for anything unusual as the ANBU checked the back of the store. It sounded pretty dull...and easy, but Ikana would do it all the same if she really had to. She nodded and had quickly ran to the front looking left and right, comically lifting onto her tippy toes and holding her hand sideways on her forehead to observe the following front of the store. She didn't see anything awkward at all, and so she had crossed her arms over her stomach with a little dissapointed sigh before waiting for her ANBU to reappear.

So now she knew that her paycheck was to be collected either today or tomorrow, and that this was a very easy mission. That was understandable seeing there was very little to no chance of seeing anything wrong happening. Then again, she was also given a very easy district to patrol. Pacing back and forth one more time, she had realized that something didn't seem right although she couldn't place her head on it. If there was someone trying to pretend to be the purple haired ANBU, wouldn't they just use the henge and hide their eye color anyways? Maybe she would inquire about that later as she wondered why an ANBU would want to trick her anyways. She was just a young child and the ANBU seemed to be busy people. Perhaps she was wrong.

"Looks like everything is all right. Don't be upset - I'm sure something interesting is going to happen later" told the female when she saw the girl moping. Shinobi life was not all about the hard missions or super exciting events. Protection of Kumogakure no Sato would always be one of the top priorities. The ANBU would escort Ikana to a nearby neighborhood where they would continue.

"We got four streets to cover. I'll take the two at the right while you take the two at the left. As usual, let me know if anything is out of the ordinary" stated the woman.
The younger female was in for something interesting. At the end of the first street, she would hear barking coming from the shed.

A domesticated Corgi with a collar had escaped into the shed after chasing a rat. The rat had been killed, but the poor dog was unable to get out. There were lights inside the house nearby.
But how would the inexperienced Genin handle this situation? A Corgi dog could literally bite back if it had to.

The young genin had witnessed the ANBU reappear as she was a bit upset, but was reassured things would get better for her mission as surely something interesting will occur sooner or later. Ikana smiled and nodded excited at the thought, and then the ANBU had went with Ikana to a nearby neighborhood which wasn't too familiar with her. She was to investigate two streets on the left side while her purple haired ANBU explored the right side of the neighborhood. It seemed fairly standard, and she had a little bit larger of a job than checking the front of a store. She had walked down the street looking to her left and right making sure nothing was going on. After walking down a bit, she had heard rapid barking from within a shed, and that concerned her as she loved puppos! She had saw the light was on within the home that had this shed, and she decided she needed to get the ANBU's attention. She was instructed very clearly to alert her for anything out of the ordinary. Walking to the shed, she had went on her knees to see a small hole where the Corgi had been scratching at and whimpering before the little girl spoke. "Don't worry Doggo! I'll get help for you!" Thus she had leapt off to look for the owl masked ANBU.

Upon locating the owl masked woman, the genin had rushed to her side before speaking.
"ANBU-San, there is a dog stuck inside of a shed on the other side of the street. We need to help it get out of there! I think the owner of the home and shed is there, so lets please ask if we can take the puppy out from there." Ikana like a lot of people loved dogs...or animals in general really. She would tug on the ANBU agent's arm sleeve before dashing off by leaping from rooftop to rooftop before revealing the shed with a barking dog as she had leaned down to see the muzzle through a hole. "I've come back to save the day Doggo! We'll get you out of here." She had then stood and quickly looked to the ANBU with big blue eyes as she would hurry to the door of the home knocking politely.

'Looks like everything is all right here' concluded the female. But her partner had apparently ran into some problems.
"ANBU-San, there is a dog stuck inside of a shed on the other side of the street. We need to help it get out of there! I think the owner of the home and shed is there, so lets please ask if we can take the puppy out from there." told the girl while tugging her sleeve.

"No need to tug my sleeve. I'll come with you" told the ANBU before she followed Ikana to the house. The smaller female had been right - she could hear a dog barking inside the shed.
"I've come back to save the day Doggo! We'll get you out of here." asssured the girl while looking at her with big innocent eyes.

She had already knocked on the door when the young woman walked up the stairs. A guy in his late teens opened the door. "Hello" greeted the male while looking at the duo.
"There is a dog inside the shed. Is it yours?" inquired the owl agent while looking at the guy.

"No, I think it belongs to the neighbors across the street. I'll open the shed so we can see" replied the teen. He went straight to the shed with both females right behind him.
The older of the two prepared herself as the male unlocked the door. A Corgi dog emerged from the shed, looking at the trio.

The animal ran across the street towards a guy who was picking up the mail. "Aaaa, there you are!" greeted the man before he brought the Corgi back inside. "Thank you for your help" told the female while looking at the guy.
He gave her a polite nod in reply after closing the shed. Both shinobis would then walk together towards the end of the street.

"Good job there Ikana-san. You did exactly what you had to do. I'll cover my last street now and I suggest you take your last one as well" told the ANBU.
There was something strange going on in the street where the girl had to patrol. A man was picking something out of a mailbox while looking around nervously...could he be stealing?

The young girl had finally found the ANBU, and had taken her back to the shed as they had knocked politely on the door of the house owner before a young teenager had opened the door. They had freed the dog from the shed with no problems whatsoever as the adorable dog had ran away from them to the other side of the street to the owner. How she wished she could pet the dog or perhaps have one of her own someday. She waved goodbye to the puppy as the owner bowed down politely to the ANBU. She had then walked with the ANBU across the street before she had spoke to her. They were alone as far as she knew.

She was complimented for her job as she was told she was doing exactly as instructed of her, and that made her happy that she could contribute. She had been told to patrol her last street as the ANBU would also be patrolling her final street. The mission was over already? It seemed like as if time had barely passed along the patrol. Who knew that village patrol could pass by so easily? Ikana nodded and had ran off to begin her search.

Everything seemed normal for a while before she had spotted a man looking through area through area through mailboxes it looked like? He looked rather nervous in his act, and immediately Ikana felt suspicious. Something didn't seem right about what he was doing. Hopping off silently, she had searched for the ANBU yet again, to inform her of the mail thief on the street. She was to report anything she found suspicious, and that was exactly what she was going to do. "Miss ANBU? I saw a man, and he's going from house to house looking through the mailboxes. I think that's against the law. Can you please help me?" Following the instructions yet again it seemed. She would then hop off to lead her to the street with the mail thief awaiting her response.

It appeared that this would be another boring day patrol in Kumogakure no Sato. The female had only re-positioned two trashcans after they had freed the Corgi. Most people were either at work, the shinobi academy or the knowledge center at the moment. Those who stayed at home were at outing with their babies or shoveling snow. But the younger female had apparently ran into something.

"Miss ANBU? I saw a man, and he's going from house to house looking through the mailboxes. I think that's against the law. Can you please help me?" asked Ikana. The ANBU blinked a little bit when she heard that.

"Sure thing kid. I'll see what I can do" replied the young woman as she walked towards the street where the man was. It turned out that the girl had been right - there was a man right in front of the mailbox stand.
He was in his early thirties with short brown hair and matching eyes. Nothing extraordinary there.

She decided to approach him. "Good morning sir. May I ask you why you are looking through other people's mailboxes?" inquired the kuinochi after showing her ANBU ID.
"Ehm...I got a package yesterday that was not mine. I laid it back just a moment ago" told the male.

"Could you show it to me please?" asked the female. He nodded before he took out a package from a mailbox labeled 'Yamato'. "Here's my bank card by the way" told the brunette.
The guy then handed her a card with a photo of him on it. It turned out that his name was 'Yamamoto Ichiro'.

"I was trying to find the right mailbox so they didn't thought I had stolen it or anything. Made me kind of nervous since I actually work as an accountant" laughed Ichiro after he had laid the package back.
"I see...have a nice day then" replied the purple-haired woman. The man gave her a nod while she looked down at her companion. "We have one more boring thing that I want you to help me with" started the young woman.

She pulled out a clipboard from her messenger bag plus a black pen. A paper had been attached to the clipboard. "I want you to write in what happened today in the right order.
This means that you need to start with the shop patrol and end with the mailbox man. You need to write CLEARLY so the people at the tower can read it" continued the ANBU.

"You need to fill in the places and street names you have covered as well. We're going to return to the shop afterwards to meet the next guard. He or she will check our list before we can sign off.
There is a map on the paper behind in case you're unsure of the names. All the streets marked in pink are those we covered today" finished the female.

She took out her own piece of paper and started filling in the facts. The kuinochi did not wanted to be disturbed since this required some concentration. Her young partner would hopefully be able to fill out most of it since they had only been patrolling for three hours.
The girl had to fill in a very simple form that most people would be able to understand. It had its own columns for time, street names or places, events as well as the date.

As the ANBU and the young genin had investigated the supposed robber to turn out it was all a misunderstanding. Young Ikana looked rather sheepish at the moment as the man had explained himself to the ANBU, and even more so when she was being looked at by the man. As they walked off, the ANBU had gotten her attention by saying there was one more thing that they would have to work on one more "boring" task...filling out a mission report. That didn't seem too bad although Ikana unfortunately had not much experience with field reports although she has had to work on some documents seeing she was living by herself as a legal "adult."

She had come at noon and she was surprised it was close to three PM already. She had quickly filled in the street names all on one side first before writing down the times of each event. Seeing they had three streets each, they logically patrolled one hour per street. She would write, The Matsutake store had been patrolled between 12 and 1 PM, and the coast was clear. There were no notable oddities that had occured, and so it had been marked secure. Near Okada St at approximately 2:15, there had been a puppy stuck in a shed, but after speaking with the owner of the shed, the dog had been released and reunited with the rightful owner, otherwise it was clear. On the third and final street at around 2:45 there had happened to be a man looking through mailboxes named Ichiro Yamamoto who had been returning a package accidentally brought to his home, and was mistakened for a thief. The issue had been cleared and everything was fine. The patrol ended at 3 PM sharp."

She would show her written report, and would make any revisions as needed. If everything was fine, they would most likely head out and get their slips signed before the owl and the young girl would have no reason to stick around anymore. The young girl had then surprisingly hugged the ANBU around the leg before quickly skipping off to the tower to collect her payment before heading off for training. There would be no word of thanks to the ANBU, just a hug. Thus the mission would be a successful venture, and her first. She hoped not all missions were like that however.

Both of the kuinochis wrote down their reports in no time. There was not that much to write given the lack of events that day. When they were done, the female would go back to the shop to meet the next person on duty.
'All right then. Another birdie' noticed the ANBU when she saw a lanky falcon agent.

He showed her his ID before she let him see hers. "Here are the reports" told the young woman while showcasing the two paper sheets. The male nodded in approval after reading them.
The kuinochi suddenly felt something around her leg. She looked down and saw Ikana hugging her left leg.

The girl then skipped towards the tower with a happy look at her face. "Gotta love the kids sometimes. They make me feel useful" laughed the female.
"I agree" replied the ANBU with a smile on his face. They said their good byes before they parted ways.
