Kunai Rashinban (Kunai compass).
Rank: “D” Rank.
Skill: Ninjutsu.
Effect: The user channels a little chakra in a kunai to make it point towards north.
Special: Bird and dragon.
Drawback: Have to know how to use a real compass, or else, the jutsu will be useless.
Description: By using the magnetic forces in the earth, a shinobi can use it to their advantage if they are lost. They lay a kunai on the ground, and channel a little chakra in it. The blade will then point towards the north, while the handle will point to south. This jutsu can be extremely useful when lost or if you don’t have a compass to use.
Limit: Has to know lightning release.

Removing his map from his pack, Hayate realized he had no compass. If he was lost his map was nearly useless if he could not figure out the direction he was going in. He did however have a kunai and a basic understanding of magnetism, thanks to the academy. If he could put a little bit of his chakra, in the form of lightning into his metal kunai, by theory it should work. However who knew what issues he could get into by basically charging up his kunai.
First, he would need to brush up a bit on his magnetism. Heading over to the library he would locate a scroll on electromagnets. After reading over how metal can be affected by electricity to create a magnetic field he felt like he had the necessary understanding of the actual physics of it all. However transitioning that knowledge into something he could do with chakra would be much more difficult, even Hayate would know that. After a bit longer studying the few scrolls they had on the subject, he would leave the library, forgetting to put the scrolls back in their spot. As he exited the library an older librarian would begin to yell at him, waving his fist for him to come place the scrolls back into their original spots! Hayate would quickly sprint off to avoid her tirade!
Back to the training fields which have become way too familiar of a sight for Hayate, he was ready to put this technique into practice. In order to effectively do it, he needed to shape his chakra around the kunai. Simply filling it with electric energy would not create a magnet, it would become a conductor. Focusing he would turn his chakra into a small electric jolt filling the kunai with electricity. Immediately after sparks would begin to fly outside of the now charged kunai. However it did not begin to budge. Moving his hand down to grab the kunai he was met with a painful shock. “Ouch!” he shouted out as he whipped his hand back and forth. The shock wouldn’t kill him, but his fingers sure were numb.
Now with his left hand, he would try to fill the kunai back with electric energy. This time trying to mold his chakra around the kunai instead of merely penetrating the metal. The chakra began to wiggle on the ground, slowly rotating before quickly ending. Realizing he used too little chakra this time, he again began to focus on slowly increasing the amount of chakra he placed into the knife. Because of his concentration it must’ve felt like ages but it was over in just an instant. Sparks began to fly in every direction and a large electric current filled the kunai which then sent it into a tailspin for a few moments before settling back down as the electric energy dissipated.
Controlling it, same problem as last time. He had no problem providing the power needed, nor the technique to do it, but getting just that sweet spot is what was so difficult for him. Again placing his hand over, he would slowly focus on molding his now electric chakra around the kunai, a soft blue glow surrounding the kunai as it slowly began to rotate in the grass. The blade bit began to wiggle a bit as it settled on a spot, this must have been north. Taking note of the location the blade was in, he lifted the blade turning it ninety degrees. Again he filled it with his chakra, focusing on filling it with just enough chakra and getting that chakra to mold around it instead of penetrating the metal the kunai slowly rotated to the same position as last time. With a smile on his face Hayate waited for the energy to dissipate from the kunai before putting it back in his pack.
