Lore of the Jungle [GM'd by Coal]

Heed these words, you foolish children, venture not into that Forest. It is death, it is rot. Your soul will be forfeit and your life will belong to them! Never enter there! NEVER! But the youths care little for this warning, soon finding themselves at the end of a long journey, standing before a forest of immense beauty, and yet they shiver none the less. As they step into the lush green, they vanish from sight into a world of emerald, pushing through the foliage and fauna in search of treasure, or perhaps glory and fame. All they find is their death, their screams echoing throughout the forest, yet to never be heard outside of the forest then or ever again. A howl pierced the veil, or perhaps it was more of a roar, and it rumbled the Jungle. It was the roar of the king.

There’s evil that lurks in the depths of this forest, a blackness that coats the realm in vile oil, greasy villainy. Dread spirits lurk in this forest of lush green, dense and expansive, hiding the perversions of the very world in which they inhabit. All who ask are turned away, told to flee and not to come looking for the forest again, for it will deaden their minds with curiosity and blacken their souls while it does so. Yet there are still the fool and brave, seeking the forest for the treasure that is said to be held inside, as the forest has overgrown many ruins of civilizations older than all who live today. This is the Forest of Lore.

The day is bright and, although not quite noon, it was warm and a bit humid. Mosquitoes buzzed in the air to and from, biting human and animal alike every now and then to draw blood from their bodies. Clouds rolled lazily in fat puffs of fluffy white, far apart like backwoods neighbors with acres of blue between them, lacking the threat of rain and only once in a while casting a shadow as they passed over the sun. Exotic birds played from tree to tree, dancing between the fat leaves of the countries forests, hiding in the exotic canopies or flying over the grasslands. Their song could be heard all over, even if at times they could not be seen, and it could either be beautiful or just annoying chatter.

Those who have come together (The PCs) will find themselves on a massive path through the center of Kusa no Kuni’s capital, Aokusa, and it was known as the Green Mile. This was the road for marketing and commerce, for the stretch of one mile, shops and hawkers could be seen as far as the eye would allow. Taverns and Bars set up all along the road in strategic and available locations, beckoning the weary travel to enter, take a load off and have a drink, perhaps stay for the night. Beggers dotted the road as well, sitting in archways and off the path against walls, perhaps in alleyways begging for a few ryo, or to lure the unsuspecting into traps in which they would be struck down. No dust ever road from the hardpacked dirt road, there since the beginning of the town, it was far too tightly packed to ever do so. All in all, the city was thriving.

Hasan hardly ever wore his Kusagakure Hitai-ate, but decided to fashion it strapped to his head while out exploring the green lengths of Aokusa. The lithe shinobi of Grass had hardly ventured to the capital unless it was to find out information on the latest heist, or to loot a particular item in the vicinity; conversely, having encountered the local authorities has caused him to steer clear of many main roads... 

But the Green Mile has so many eye-pleasing stalls that the Kumomusha shinobi can't help but stay off of its serpentine lengths. Wearing pure white raiment and walking through the canopy dense enclosure of the Green Mile, Hasan fidgeted every time he walked past a unique stall. He had to keep his wit about him---patrolmen knew his six-armed figure and dreadlocked hair. He couldn't disguise himself even if he had wanted to. The Kusanin took out his national map and studied it for a bit as two guards walked near him, sensing his motive but not apprehending him since he chose to remain law abiding. As two hands held the map, another played with the ninja tool pouch at his waist that held several stacks of incendiary and explosive tags. He would aptly reach in and crumble one up and throw it at the back of one of the patrolmen, then just as quickly turn towards the other direction as if though he were still studying his map as diligently as he led on.

"What the fuck... hey, Spider Boy." one of the men called to Hasan; acting unaware, Hasan continued to do what he had been doing, and soon the duo marched after him and unsheathed their weapons. "Hey you spider fuck, watch where you throw things..." the guard seized hold of his shoulder and turned him around; "We don't mind throwing your pathetic ass in the Jungle of Lore if you keep at it, boy."

[OOC: You probably didn’t know and that’s fine, but don’t control my NPCs. You’re only in control of you. If I don’t make it happen, it wasn’t supposed to happen unless affected by your own actions, which I will incorporate into my next post. You, however, don’t get to puppet the NPCs. That’s completely up to me.]

Casually the guard ripped the paper to shreds without even bothering a second glance, as that would have no effect on him even if it blew, and threw the pieces in Hasan’s face. The other spit on the ground and then the two guards walked away from the boy, leaving him there with his map, no longer truly caring about him in the least. Excruciatingly obvious was the group of boys gathering around an old man, but it was unsure if they were picking on him or just tugging at him for attention. However, it was clear that they were in his way, as he kept attempting to move toward the tavern that was being advertised nearby.

“You fool children,” the old man cried out, “I survived that wretched jungle and I’ll survive you too! Unhand me!” Finally yanking his own robes free, he began his trek toward the Tavern once more, a place known as “The Jungle’s Law”. It was becoming apparent that there was a bit of a theme here, as most signs also seemed to have something to do with nature in some way, from the Flowerbud to Bandersnatch Armaments; although they sold nothing made from a Bandersnatch. The old man pushed his way inside, the double swinging doors back and forth motion the only indicator that he had just been outside at all. The kids, all laughing at how they teased the old man, began to walk and joke their way toward Hasan without really paying him any mind. While the guards might know him, the people had no idea who he was.

“Ha ha! Old Man Ri is off his rocker! No way he’s been to the Jungle of Lore.” One of the boys was grinning from ear to ear, one tooth missing, and he was the largest of the six. “Yeah,” another with unruly brown hair piped in, “My Da says that the old man is getting ‘senile’ in his old age, whatever that means!” Then a small girl in the back with short blond hair spoke up, “I don’t know. I think he was really there. Did you guys see that scar on his face?” They made their way passed Hasan, headed to other parts of town to no doubt cause mischief, but that was not what was important, now was it?

[Errmanno]

Errmanno walked down the green mile with his head bent against the glare of the sun. He was uncomfortable around so many people. Appearing like a homeless bum, he skittered his way from shady area to shady area working his way to the meeting spot. Personally he wouldn't have gone to the Haunted jungle area but it was in his back yard so to speak. He figured as a Kusa Shinobi, and should make the country safer. One does not allow a cancer to survive in the heart of one's colony. And this situation was no different.

So his great hobo jacket was pulled higher onto his shoulders and he walked down the streets. He made an effort to blend into the mass of humanity on the streets. His Ant Lord Bodysuit and rugged pants stuck out as his homeless appearance did. His gloved and booted hands hid any skin very well. As did a cloth helmet that he wore with Goggles over his eyes. Not a bit of his true self could be seen. On his belt was a few pouches holding his few possessions that he brought. A compass and a penlight was in one of these pouches, in a scroll case attached near it was a Average quality Map of Kusa nation. His Ants, beetles,  and Bees were behaving though the buzzing around him was pretty loud him being a living hive.

He had a fire ant colony living in his clothes while a bee hive lived in his skin. Though his chakra system was completely infested with chakra bugs. The Mosquitoes around the area immediately honed in on his sweet chakra and blood. He smiled slightly from behind his helmet at the insects and allowed them to freely feast through his thin bodysuit.  The more insects the better in his mind.

That was when he heard the commotion around Hasan, not that he knew the shinobi but then again he knew very few of his fellows. But the interesting thing was the boys saying that the old man may have been to the Jungle of Lore, now having a guide would a good idea. Besides he would need help if the legends of the area are true. So he staggered into the tavern and looked around from under his goggles.

Kiru was situated on a lone rooftop simply laying on his back. He wore his usual outwear attire which consist of a skin tight black shirt that reaches to his wrist and black pants with knee high black socks. Over that he has a grey jacket with a simple hood. For pants are regular shorts that are a matching grey to his jacket. He wears typical shinobi boots grey in color. His buttbag was on his back and one of hiss three blades would be situated above it on the small of his back in it's sheathe.His butt bag had nothing other than two slots of senbon The other two would be attached to both his thighs being within reach to use them at a moment's notice. All of his blades were at least 2 feet in length with pure black hilts being wakizashi.

Kiru had a eventful time strolling through the green mile during his time away from the village. He was able to enjoy the many delicious food stands and had a full meal and fully rested body after taking a nap for the rest of the day. His attention was caught and stolen by a old man surrounded by some kids who spoke of the massive forest of Lore that was situated right next to the center. While Kiru had been enjoying the sights and festive city the lore was something not in his focus. All he knew so far was that no one entered and if they did they would never come out again. That thought itself was amusing and  drew him in. So he hopped up on his feet pulling out his Grass headband before wrapping it tightly around his right shoulder.After while 
keeping his eyes on the old man he tailed after him to a nearby tavern. A flicker of his eyes to a fluorescent purple looking almost like the universe occurred before returning to his green color. Kuro had been getting excited as well.  This is one story he would need to hear if wanted any chance of surviving that hell hole.

It had taken many hours but they had finally reached their destination, Aokusa. However, Tachibana had been through this sort of thing before and made sure to prepare before entering the city proper. Securing his shirt, pants, shoes, and robes along with his belt and the pouches that hung from them he nodded to Kaori as a sign she should do the same. In each pouch there were various items; his map, multi-tools, field cauterizers, and zip-ties. If his experience had taught him anything it was that there was always a situation that called for something

He took his forehead protector, usually displayed ornamentally on his forearm underneath his robes and placed it neatly folded into a pocket, moving his body about to check if it was immediately visible - it wasn't. Unlike the other individuals who had come to this place Tachibana was not of the native village of this country and sought to keep their actual identity unknown if possible. While there was no immediate bad-blood between Leaf and Grass anything could provoke unknown circumstances that could turn that tide easily.

"Let's make sure to tread carefully here, who knows what sort of surveillance Kusa has here and what sort of craziness is to come if we happen to come across the place we're looking for", he said before setting off to the city proper his hand clasped with Kaori's.

Tachibana thought himself lucky as he entered the Green Mile, pushing past person after person to get to his destination, never allowing his hand to become separated from Kaori's. The sheer volume of people along with the hustle and bustle of the city itself would likely not betray their persons. On the outside, he himself just looked like another random individual save long-flowing hair and together they probably just looked like some sort of foreign couple here to enjoy the comforts. It was due to such order in the disorder of the city flow that something quickly came to his attention, something just slightly different enough to catch his ears.

A group of what seemed to be kids was causing a commotion with an old man. Looking back to Kaori he put his finger on his lips, then motioned over to the kids and the man - still being quite a ways away ye close enough to be in earshot. Quickly, he move aside to allow the flow past idly browsing a stall while his real attention was focused toward the commotion. It didn't take long for the old man to utter a few words that peaked his interest, 'I survived that wretched jungle...'. That was all the confirmation he needed. Quickly he turned his gaze and watched the children walk off in a direction - noting the direction they headed, and noting that the old man walked into the tavern nearby.

There were clearly two sources of information to be had here. The children who bullied the old man likely knew something of his origin and the old man himself likely knew something of greater importance. If he wasn't pressed for time Tachibana would have chosen to get the kids to spill the beans on the old man before approaching him, but he didn't want to waste an opportunity.

Hurrying to the Tavern he pushed back the doors before going straight the bar, briefly surveying it before he did, making sure to take note if he saw the old man. However, it wasn't holistically necessary at least initially, approaching him without some level of understanding of his person was a bad idea.

"Hey! Barkeep! Can I get a cold one?" He spoke loudly, putting on a rather fake smile before sitting on a stool. If his request was heeded he would immediately follow it up before the barkeep left to go conduct other business, placing an extra five-thousand ryo on the counter. "Can you tell me whats the deal with that old man?"

[Chizuru]

I found myself wandering along this great path through Aokusa following the trail of rumors that spoke of a certain Jungle. I was perhaps an unusual sight in this city dressed as I was in a white blouse with a long sleeved, light button down jacket covering that, the sleeves of which tapered out at the wrist and were fairly frilled. Inside the left sleeve was hidden the knife I primarily used for my personal defense and I wore fairly some fairly worn midnight purple leather gloves upon my hands. The skirt worn was fairly short, reaching perhaps half way down my thighs, and was coloring pink with widely spaces horizontal and vertical stripes creating boxed shapes upon it. The socks I wore under my nearly knee high boots were of a black silk material and very nearly reached my skirt.

Locked onto my belt around over my posterior was a posterior pouch which held a few items I deemed quite useful. There were nine pills to clot blood and stop bleeding in a timely manner if someone were injured as well as two kunai and eight exploding tags. There was also a map of the world, but that was less important at the moment as the others. Perhaps the most annoying bit of baggage that I totted around with me was one I could not be rid of, and was currently sitting upon my should. Lasciel, the Y'la that inhabits my body sat there in a miniature form that only I could see with long, flowing blonde hair and presently in a grab mimicking my own. 'Mine host, take note of the elderly man there, with what the children are saying mayhaps he knows something.' The voice was one only I could hear, yet it told me nothing I had not already deduced on my own.

I followed after the male with long black hair and stepped away from the entrance so as not to obstruct others once in. I took in the tavern that was known as The Jungle's Law and primarily sought out the location of the elderly man that had been taunted and teased by the children, he should have the most information if he had truly been to such a place. Upon catching sight I would find myself walking over to join him with a quick, "Would you be so kind as to allow me the pleasure of your company, dear sir?"

To be sure, Kaori was no where near as experienced as Tachibana when it came to inter-village relations. Every mission that took her outside of Konohagakure required her headband to be displayed as a matter of course, and most vacations had been to allied lands. She watched as he deliberately hid the forehead protector and quickly followed suit, unstrapping it from her arm and tucking it in to one of the various pockets that lined the inside of her hooded cloak. It would not unbalance her a great deal, considering the massive amounts of kunai hidden in the pouches sewn into the garment, or the utility belt secured around her waist. She also carried two multi-tools, a pair of binoculars, and a penlight for when things inevitably got rough.

Beneath the cloak, the girl's lime hair was secured back in to a neat bun, to remain cool and prevent obstruction of vision. A pair of fitted black pants and a green short sleeve shirt made her rather mundane, although her black, high-rise tactical boots spoke to some involvement other than an annual shopping trip. Kaori smiled at him and pulled down her hood for a more casual aura, then happily took his hand. "I'll be following your lead."

After a short stroll down a long, bustling road, Tachibana stopped them - likely having seen something she had not. Truthfully, it was hard to discern things of import when new sights and smells pressed in on you from all sides. She shook her head to clear the fog, knowing it was time to focus now. She noted the rowdy boys who walked away, and more importantly, the older man her husband had zeroed in on. She followed Tachibana quietly, demurely, to avoid drawing additional attention.

Shocking, really, that a tavern could be so busy this early in the day, but Aokusa was simply unlike Konohagakure in every way. This place seemed to thrive on imagery of the wilderness, if the stalls nearby and the tavern's name could be trusted. Tachibana had informed her that there was treasure to be found in a jungle, so at least it seemed they were in the right place. As he called for a drink she fixed her gaze on the old man, or rather, the girl who had just walked up to him. With her observation skills as well-trained as they were, Kaori knew it would be best to continue taking in their interactions while her husband searched for answers.

Everyone found their various reasons to enter the pub after the old man, nobody in the town paying them any mind in the least, because this was normal business. Most people in Kusa no Kuni worked evenings and took care of business in the mornings, for it got much too hot in the afternoon for most folk to really toil in the day to day lifestyles. Upon entering the pub, it was clear that these people were finally free of work, laughter and rowdy behavior, typical of a bar scene out of any age old story book, including even the odd ball or two who sat alone or in pairs to brood into their drinks. Interestingly enough, almost everyone bulged into the doorway at the same time, yet only two people moved, one being pulled by the other, or maybe just led.

Tachibana and Kaori were at the bar, slightly left of center, and the male was addressing the barkeep in a loud manner; a necessity. Turning to him from his position more to Tachibana’s right of the center, he would put his right hand to his beard, leaning down to talk to the male, the crown of his older age having a slight shine. “Sure thing. I’ll get you the house ale, then I guess I could tell you a little about Old Man Ri.” Turning away, he would move to the shelves behind the bar, grabbing a mug from the bottom shelf, he would turn back to the taps and pour a greenish liquid into the mug. “Stuff is called the ‘Dragon of Grass’. Powerful stuff, named after the Kage Shaolin Kaigaiden. Or would it be Maeda? Well, that was nearly an age ago. Unimportant.” He placed the mug in front of Tachibana and Kaori. He assumed they were going to share or some other thing young kids do these days. He had noticed the presence of another girl, sort of hovering around the couple (Chizuru), but it wasn’t his business unless she was buying. The rest of the new faces he had never seen were hovering by the door, like the place was going to bite (Errmanno & Jintai)

“Well, I can tell you what I know about him. See, Old Man Ri claims he was in the Jungle, the one of lore, when he was a younger man. Says he was at the edge and barely survived to tell the tale, if you can believe that hogwash! Ha! Old Man was probably going senile—“ A mug slammed on the counter interrupting the words, the owner’s hand wrinkled and spotted, but his grip looked formidable despite the age. The old man from outside, this Old Man Ri, was glaring at the barkeep and those at the bar with clear brown eyes unbefitting his age. These eyes were amazingly sharp. “Hogwash is it?! The young have no respect for the old! Now listen here, I’ve been there and back, but I wouldn’t go back again for all the treasure in that place and you’d best show it some respect!” Finally he noticed the youngins sitting at the bar, two looking timid, one looking a little more battle hardened and worldly. He also noticed the weirdos at the door too, had noticed them before, but he was in the thick of it now…they all had that look…

“So which of you started Tando here on that kick about me, hmmm?” He took in all five of the new comers with his gaze, but it was most heavily focused on the three at the bar.

The barkeep seemed like a jovial man, and if not for his clear prejudice against the elderly, Kaori expected they may have gotten some interesting information from him. Certainly, he did not seem to worry about speaking too much to a stranger. Perhaps it was lucky for them that he called the old man senile, because it prompted a rebuttal from the very person they spoke of. She did not need excellent powers of observation to tell that Old Man Ri was sharp despite his age.

The young have no respect for the old. Well, perhaps not. So which of you started Tando here on that kick about me? The lime-haired girl stepped forward just enough to make her presence known, and then bowed deeply to the old man, averting her gaze to the floor. "Good afternoon, Ri-san," she said, clearly, and straightened. "My name is Kaori, and I'm traveling here with my husband. We heard you talking outside about the Jungle of Lore, and we were so curious we wanted to know more. My husband wanted to ask you, but I thought it would be rude to interrupt your drink, so we asked the barkeep instead. I am very sorry to have offended you."

She gave him an embarrassed smile, and then turned her attention methodically to the barkeep, this Tando. "Barkeep, could you please get Ri-san another of his favorite drink, on me?" She pulled out a bit of ryo and placed it on the counter, estimating what would be enough to cover Tachibana's drink as well as this new one.

Though the barkeep hadn't told them anything more than they had overheard outside the bar, his berating of the old man seemed to cause the old man to spark an interest in himself and Kaori. Perfect. Almost as if Tachibana could read Kaori's mind, he did not interject as soon as the old man spoke up, allowing Kaori to. Instead, he simply picked up the mug of alcoholic beverage, swirled it around and drank a small sip, intending to sample the drink as if he had not a care in the world. His attention was however actually focused on Kaori's response to the old man and the old man's reaction, his available free hand touching upon the hilt of his own jian from within it's place on his belt loop underneath his robe. While it was clear Kaori had mastery of the situation he would not leave such things to chance, especially with his beloved involved. If the old man really was senile it would take but a flick of the wrist to wrest the jian from its sheath, a step, and a pivot to bring its full force upon him.

He did not disguise his actions at all other than them occurring from within his robe, his position obscuring them somewhat, but rather allowed them to speak for themselves. It was likely the old man was far more than he seemed and could perhaps even read the situation perfectly. If they intended any sort of bout it would have occurred, and if they had planned on insulting the old man it would have happened. No, it this was merely a conversation from which they hoped to glean information, one which benefited the old man with whatever drink he so desired.

"This.. Dragon of Grass was it? Such a refined taste. I haven't had anything like this in a long time, something to be savored." He spoke absentmindedly to the barkeep, not actually interested in whether or not he could hear over the roar of the tavern.

Tachibana had already noted the peculiarity of the name, as dragons were quite rare and often such things were given a name for a reason. Ah, there was the old man, it took a bit to take notice of him and the supposed married couple had approached him before myself. Such a thing would not slow my progress though, and as the woman asked about the forest I slid myself into place at his opposing side. Delicately my fingers would rest upon his arm, "I too, find myself drawn to the tales of that old forest. Would you allow me the opportunity to hear tales of it first hand from one who has been there?" As inquiries were made the tiny little angel upon my shoulder uttered the obvious, 'This pair bonded in matrimony may be of use, do try to play nice, dear host.' Whilst containing a biting comment I spoke with my attention upon the lime lovely and elderly gentleman, "I am known as Chizuru, it is a pleasure that fate has bound our paths this day."

[Errmanno]

Errmanno notice others talking and drawing out the old man he had interest decided to listen and wait for opportunity. His basic nature allowed him to slip further into the bar and into a seat at a table within ear shot of the conversation going on. He was mostly ignored as he flagged down a waitress to order a glass of water. He wasn't much into the drinks that would inhibit his mental facilities. So with a order of water in and a good advantage point, he simply kept his head down and listened for the information he needed.

As the old man called out all the people in the room Kiru felt his gaze on him chuckling carelessly with a apologetic grin. Walking towards the bar and taking a seat at a nearby table he would pull the chair out and sit in it listening to the woman speaking to the old man. When he could get the chance he would add in his own bit to answer. "Excuse Mr.Ri Sir, call me crazy but how would one survive this forrest? Exactly what's in it and what can I find there." Kiru would openly ask for all of them to hear. "Unlike everyone else i'll believe you sir. It could potentially save my life." He finally stated with a soft warm hearted smile towards the old man. He truly had meant the words he said in hopes to gain information and the chance to go on some crazy adventure. It was one way to live it up.

lol, that was my npc. i don't remember you starting the event with no head or tail of any person to interact with;

but i do understand not to puppet your npcs. :)

The patrol turned and left Hasan be, after jerking him around a bit. He returned his land map to the folds of his albicant clothing before brushing his dreads out of his face with his left hand. Hasan wandered still a ways down the Green Mile, taking in what pleasures of the warm sun he could between the overhead canopy.

After a while, he had been following an attractive looking woman and her male aide into a bar... he smiled and entered alongside several other thirsty appearing patrons. Even if he had recognized anyone, he paid them no mind. The Kumomusha was quite settled on getting a drink or two to immerse in the mood. His head snapped towards the barkeep, who Hasan had inadvertently heard talking about an old man Ri; and just before, Hasan heard a group of boys mention that name alongside a tale of the Jungle of Lore... The Kusagakure genin's interests piqued.

Just then, titular elder shouted from the outside. Hasan was startled; and also dissatisfied. Once Ri began to speak, the man and woman at the bar in turn did, and she revealed that her companion was actually her husband. Bummer. Hasan sighed, but still, the interests of the jungle intrigued him so. Interrupting the lot that had gathered, Hasan spoke:


"How about I go snag that treasure for ya, then get us into the City of Amazons, eh?" he nudged the old man with his elbow as he winked.

[OOC: I’ve already explained how it works to Cadoc (Stickysweets) in a PM, but I figured I’d let everyone else know too, in case there is any confusion. You cannot create your own NPCs in an Event. You cannot. The reasoning behind this is that, if you could, then you could create NPCs to Godmod or Metagame like Stickysweets did previously to gain information about the Event; such as location or people involved or even aid in a dire situation. Now, during a mission that is fine, because you are in charge of that mission and if you have a GM, they’re really just guiding you along.

I repeat, you cannot create or control ANY NPCs in an Event. In an Event, you control ONLY your character and your character alone. You do not have the right to control any NPC or Environmental change in an Event (save for use of techniques and other factors, but I’m sure you get my meaning). Offenders hurt the entire team. Don’t ruin it for your fellow allies in the Event. The fact that I need to explain this annoys me, but it’s okay, some people have never dealt with this so it’s a learning experience.]

Old Man Ri took notice of the others who had come into the bar, filing in in their own perspective ways, and took of their positions. The female with the green hair spoke first to him, apparently traveling with her husband on some sort of lover’s journey no doubt! She was rather polite, which was something the old man liked in the youthful as most were rather rude, and that kind of behavior was unacceptable. She ordered him a drink, another Dragon of Grass, and the old man smiled; he was only missing a tooth or two in the back upper row, hardly noticeable. Before he had a chance to speak, another woman asked if she could be privy to his tale of the Jungle, which was odd that so many young were asking him, unless they were planning on going back to that cursed placed. Kaori and Chizuru, oh, and Kaori’s husband.

The strange boy with the helmet sat at a table, but he was close by and the old man noticed, as he notices all things. However, that was of no consequence, as it was a free world and people could sit and listen to whatever pleased them. Another boy pulled up a seat near that helmet head kid, another that wanted to go into the Jungle, and another interrupting him before he could speak a word; he didn’t even give his name! Now that it looked as if they had finished interrupting for a moment, Old Man Ri grabbed his mug of DoG (Dragon of Grass), bringing it to his lips to have a taste before he began talking, just in case anyone else had a question before he could say anything. It was important to give the young some time, y’know? They were always in such a rush. He remembered those times fondly. A waitress brought the boy with the helmet his water, setting it on the table and moving off to continue her business, paying no mind to them at all.

The husband, name unknown, was complimenting the drink that he had, which was also a Dragon of Grass. Looking over at the young lad sipping his drink, the Barkeep smiled, because the boy was smart not to down that all too quickly. “Yeah, this is a house brew, made from a recipe created by one of our Kage in a more primitive time; Shaolin Kaigaiden. Old Man Ri is the only person in the village old enough to have been around then though.” Typical idle barkeep info. Before he could even taste his drink, one final boy just had to interrupt, and it was the most detrimental of all. A nudge to his elbow followed by words he didn’t care about; not because they were unimportant, but because now the old man had his drink all over him and none of it in his belly or even on his tongue. It was already becoming too much for him, this overwhelming amount of youngsters trying to get a word in edgewise, touching him and bothering him; just like those punk kids outside. Wiping the front of his robe with one hand, scowling at the crowd of youngsters around him, putting his empty mug down on the counter, and he walked off and out of the bar.

“Whoa. Now that’s skill. You guys managed to get Old Man Ri pretty steamed.” The barkeeper, Tando, was having himself a pretty good chuckle about it. He tossed a rag down on the counter and turned away to head down the bar, but first he called out to the youths that got Old Man Ri so upset. “One of you clean up your mess too! I’m not your ma.” The barkeep made his way down the bar then, back to work, as was the life of a barkeeper.

[Errmanno]

Errmanno eyes narrowed as the guy who had gotten in trouble with people outside had elbowed the old man and made him spill his drink. It was obvious that the constant interruptions and the spilling of his favorite drink had upset the man. The man was about to storm out of the bar when Errmanno quickly and under the table as to be hidden put his hands together in the Tiger seal. Quickly and unnoticeable except by the very adept of vision he covered a bug that had crawled out of his sleeve in a bit of chakra. It was one of his Kikaichu female beetles that he cover.

With a pheromone command he sent he to stealthy fly her way to on the old man's clothing. Aiming for a point on his lower back to be least noticed. The whole point would be not to lose their source of information but the old man needed time to cool down. As the bug flew and landed on the man as he passed by Errmanno's table, he continued to drink his water calmly like he hadn't done a thing. He was simply letting the man go an cool down while he bid his time for the right moment. He needed the old man if he was going to explore this haunted jungle.

His gloved hands and Booted feet didn't even make a twitch towards the old man for he could sense that all these people were more powerful than he. But he was going to use his smarts to accomplish the same goal besides he needed to protect his hive and colony. His bugs were behaving so far by not crawling out in droves like they usually do, but he needed to leave the Bar soon so they can be free and play or whatever his bugs do.

Kikaichu Tracking (Destruction Bug Tracking)

Effect: Allows the user to find a female kikaichu by covering it in a small amount of chakra and sending it towards an opponent. The kikaichu will land and remain motionless while emitting a scent that the male kikaichu can smell as well as allowing the user to understand the location through the chakra.
Special: Tiger handseal to cover the bug in chakra; then launching the bug at the opponent without their knowledge.
Drawback: If the opponent discovers the bug, they can remove it, giving off a false information to the person using it as a tracking device.
Description: The user performs the Tiger handseal to cover the female kikaichu in chakra. The bug then flies off towards the opponent, moving stealthily to avoid detection. It is very small and difficult to see. Once it has landed on the opponent, the user can use both the chakra and the scent that it excretes to the males of its kind to allow the user to always be able to track the opponent.

Things seemed to be going quite well, the elderly gentleman was in a decent mood with his drink and prepared to weave for us a tale of his adventure. That was how it seemed before fate intervened with a most cruel turn of events as a human of arachnid qualities entered and decided that it would be an intelligent decision to jostle a man trying to enjoy a drink. I tried not to let my displeasure show as Ri left in a bit of a temper and began to go through the options in my head. The best chance I had of obtaining the information would be to rely on another, and the married pair would be my best chance of gaining the information. Leaning over as the bartender spoke I leaned towards the woman of lime hair and spoke in a hushed tone, trying to keep the arachnid out of it.

"I do believe we have similar goals in obtaining this information and you and your husband are most likely to be able to get him speaking again. I will stay and try to get what knowledge is possible from the bartender, perhaps he would even have some of Ri's stories. Meet me back here and perhaps we will have information to share" Leaning back and catching the tossed towel I would shove the rag into the hands of the spider and speak aloud once more, "One should learn that actions have consequences and take responsibility for such actions." Returning my attention to the couple I would say aloud, "Please give Sir Ri my apologies for such a barbaric interruption and offer him a five thousand Ryo tab here on me." What came next would depend solely on if they decided to share any obtained information with me.

Leaving the arachnid to clean the mess he caused I would head over to where the bartender was working. "Might I see a menu dear sir? I plan to be here for a time and if you serve food I would be greatly interested in partaking." Reaching into her shirt a five thousand ryo note was produced and slipped to the man, "And if you did hear, I would like to put this towards a tab for Ri." A smile formed upon my lips, warm if your knowledge of me was lacking, a show of money to say it was not much to do simply this and a promise of more to come. The only question would be if he were willing to talk with the time came if the proper incentive was presented.

A scowl filled the features of Tachibana's face as he watched it all unfold - their plans immediately turning into nothing more than dust before his eyes. As he attempted to suppress his rage due to the ineptitude of the individuals who had made such happen he sighed and took a second swig of the drink he had purchased. It was clear even before Chizuru's speech that there were secondary and tertiary parties at work here, all trying to garner just a glimpse of the fabled Forest. It was also clear they were all too inept to understand the subtly of things.

He nodded with a waved hand at Chizuru as she spoke of alliance and collusion, knowing his wife would deal with such things. As long as they didn't betray their allegiances both literally by speaking of them and figuratively by doing something against them sharing info was fine in his eyes. In fact, if he was correct and there happened to somehow be a dragon hiding in the midst of this forest, then they would need all the help they could get.

Standing up he faced the room, before he voice boomed making sure it was loud enough to rise above the hustle and bustle of the tavern, "Okay. Its very clear there are others of you around here who wish to get to the Forest and find its riches." He spoke, looking clearly at the young arachnid-like man who had bumped into old man Ri. "That's fine, but I'll be giving you an ultimatum right here and right now. You have three choices, even if only one is the correct one. You can leave here and go back to your pitiful existences without finding the forest, you can further impede my progress toward finding the forest, or you can join my party and receive partial share of the loot we acquire."

He laughed somewhat as he gripped the hilt of his blade, moving his robe in such a way that the hilt would be not clearly visible.

"Choose wisely and quickly; If you are choosing the first quickly leave, I wouldn't suggest the second, and if your choice is the third make yourself known now."

This set of choices was the only way he could relieve his own conscience and ensure there were no more major setbacks.

Kuro was simply dumbfounded at the actions that unveiled themselves. The kid with more than a few arms had bumped in to the old man Ri spilling his whole drink and thus left the bar.Kuro got up to go follow the man begging to tell him the secrets of the Jungle however the voice of another man caught his attention. He had been assertive in talking about everyone had three choices since he could tell most of the people in here were interested in finding out about the jungle. Kuro turned with a soft hearted grin as he talked to the man nonchalantly. "Cool speech and all but shouldn't we hurry up and go after him?" Kuro would say scratching the back of his head. "I'm with you but we should make haste before he heads off." Kuro was kinda worried about the impression he gave off considering he was armed to the teeth with his three blades. But it wasn't like he was the only swordsman so he tried to not worry to much about it. Kuro would calmly start towards the door slowly waiting for him and everyone else to catch up who would be coming.
