Denkou was sitting in his family's dojo. Kneeling on the floor with a kettle of tea on his plush mat. He was contemplating his life and was about to begin his practice. Before he began he was remembering his childhood. His first master, known as Hiroko taught him everything he knew about the blade. The man was legendary. The very first thing sensei did was toss a bokken at him and told him to hold it like he was. It was an L shaped form like most sword stances but the sword was always sheathed. Why was it always sheathed he thought. He never saw him do any sword techniques before but he'd learn how powerful this style was quickly. The stance he stood in, he recalled felt powerful. He felt as if just drawing the sword would cause a whirlwind. He wasn't too far off. The stance was capable of doing so.
Hiroko walked around Denkou and stared at his footing, his grip on his blade and where he placed his free hand. The gripping was tight and in a position where sliding the blade out after a mild movement would be easy. The man would adjust his leg to make the left leg a little wider. Another gaze and a chin scratch, he'd tilt his right arm a bit more to make the sword held a bit higher. The stance was complete. "Remember this feeling. You will need to be able to put yourself back into this exact stance each time you wish to perform any technique in the style. Next I will teach you the hard part of learning this style. Drawing the blade and returning it to the 'reset' position." Denkou remembers absorbing all of this information and nodding. He was ready to continue.
