Effect: Ritual Lore can be used to gather knowledge about Ritual knowledge or to recognize a ritual-related clue.

Description: Relevant Abilities: Intelligence Skill. Die Rolls: 5 Die Rolls. Check Requirement: Normal. Rituals are complex ceremonies that create Chakra effects. The user does not memorize or prepare a ritual; a ritual is so long and complex that no one could ever commit the whole thing to memory. Characters with this skill can train 1 ritual type (declared when the skill is chosen) to maximize the potential of the Rituals they selected. A character may acquire additional Ritual types to improve by choosing this skill again. A person versed in Ritual Lore receives training in Rituals to both improve a Ritual and identify rituals. As such, they can peruse Ritual books and other items part of rituals to learn their contents. Ritual Jutsu Performing and Ritual Lore are related to each other much like engineering and pure science. That is, Seal Performing is all about applying basic Ritual-based principals to demonstrate uses. A junior Seal Performer is much like an amateur tinkerer. They know little (if any) theory but has some measure of practical experience—sufficient to deal with the elementary challenges of low-level Seals and Rituals. As they progress in experience, their additional theoretical training allows them to perform progressively more complex Rituals and Seals. As they reach higher levels, even if they have not specifically undertaken to study Ritual Lore, they have sufficient training to comprehend and use relatively complex Ritual theory. However, if the user wishes to ever be anything more than a Jutsu lobber, additional training is recommended. Some practical applications of Ritual Lore follow:

Exploration rituals, based on the name alone Yoko could not determine what they did, what was the difference between locating with scrying and moving with travel spells? Still, the prospect of learning about a new ritual type interested Yoko, she sprang to her feet in search of books on the topic. It didn't take that long to locate the books on the shelves; however, it turned out that there was a vast number of tomes on the subject.
Yoko carried as many as she could back to the table asking, the attendant to bring the rest over and return the ones she was no longer using. The sheer volume of books was somewhat daunting, but also gave her all the more reason to learn the lore.
