The user sees only a vague shape. The target first gets a save to recognize the image as unreal. If that save fails, the phantasm touches the subject and the subject must succeed on a second save or is afflicted with the cowering condition from fear. Even if the save is successful, the subject is subject to the shaken condition for 1 round.
Limit: Must know the Phantasm Perception.

    Inoryu was thinking of ways he could take advantage of his 'wars of attrition' strategy. Inoryu had debilitated his shadow clone to make him more susceptible to genjutsu and there were several ways he could take advantage of it. First, he wanted a non-lethal jutsu to completely nullify the target. He remembered the 'Phantasmal Foe' jutsu, which aligned with his intentions now. 

    The chuunin weaved through the eight hand seals wall gathering the necessary chakra. The chakra was transformed into the phantasm perception and began to work on the shadow clone. The shadow clone perceived an enemy, conjured from his subconscious, a menacing ghoul. He believed the genjutsu and the phantom reached out to touch him. After which, the phantom ghoul disappeared and the shadow clone was left shaken. Inoryu knew there was more to the jutsu. He tried two more times and the shadow clone saw the phantom failed to believe the genjutsu. 

    Inoryu tried again and the shadow clone appeared to believe the phantom enemy, but its touch merely left him shaken. Inoryu wanted to produce the full effects of the jutsu so he tried again. The shadow clone resisted another two times and the third try left him shaken. It was finally after the seventh try that he believed the genjutsu fully. The phantom enemy appeared, touched him, and he was left in a helpless, cowering state. "That was difficulteven with the ability damage. Is my resistance to genjutsu so high?" he wondered.

    The chuunin paused just to be in the moment. He was relaxed and he could sense the substantial self-improvement prevalent from his training. He was understanding the perception at an accelerated rate and he wanted a moment to just take it all in. That was when his mind began to wander. A recent memory that had stuck with him and challenged his values as a human being. Six months ago, the pungent stench of decay filled Vlad's office. The incessant, present death in the form of half a severed corpse hanging by the hair of the ninja's grip. The Chunin, Houkou Genkaku, had presented the corpse as confirmation of his kill to Vlad, and they debated the ethics of bringing the corpse to his office nonchalantly. 

    Inoryu was a chunin now as well, and he was beginning to understood that, one day, the same thing may be asked of him to do. The corpse's face was frozen in agony, with eyes rolled back in its head. The offal was hanging down from the completely severed stomach. The rancid odor was vivid, even now. He was shocked at the time, to witness such a spectacle, yet he forced himself to stay and observe rather than retreat, despite his repulsion. He could still remember Houkou's words, telling him that he needed a stronger gut to be a ninja of Kusagakure. Inoryu had struggled since then, trying to compromise between his duties as a ninja and his values. He would always obediently carry out orders, but he still was who he was and his self-esteem was at stake. 

    His understanding of phantasms was very good, even more so now that he had practiced the applications. Phantasms were a great way to affect the mind, and almost all of them caused a physiological reaction. It wasn't so far-fetched to believe that phantasms were capable of shutting the body down completely through subconscious belief. Often the subconscious believes in the deception and realizes it. Why would death be any different? His resolution became clear to the moral dilemma he had been facing since that time. There was a way to carry out that order without losing oneself, an offer of a painless death. 

    The chunin was in a state of flowing with the phantasm perception. He had the natural talent, the knowledge, and the experience to determine what such a phantasm would entail. He theorized it would be a sort of creature or figure, pulled from the subconscious of the subject. Indeed, it was the subconscious that the mind reaver preyed upon, exploiting it to the deception and making the effects real. It was also a powerful tool, to effect the subject psychologically, for various other tactics. 

    Inoryu wondered how he could bring about that result. He allowed his mind to absorb the dilemma and he remembered the principles of the phantasm perception; that phantasms are a deception of the subject's mind imbued with mind affecting properties, and the subject's subconscious manifests the desired effects. If he wanted to deceive the mind to believe it was dead, it would need to produce a phantasm with that mind-affect. In order to cause death, he would have to produce that phantasm and imbue it with the deadly mind-affect.

Having already succeeding in aiding her minions, Dream Ameya decides to shift focus a bit and add additional power to one of the techniques she already mastered. She researched the enchantment that she already cast, writing notes throughout the research that she conducted. She came to the conclusion that she could use her chakra in a busting nature, rather than needing to touch her target. So she needed to practice applying her chakra in a different way.

She focused, letting her chakra flow throughout her body. She closed her eyes and envisioned what her chakra was doing around each body part. It was important to do this, because it allowed her to understand what her chakra was trying to accomplish. She could feel her chakra steadily increasing her defenses and slowly building her attack power. That was a good thing.

Though, before the chakra that built up her defenses was limited to a certain point. She needed to break past that threshold if she was ever going to improve this enchantment. So Dream Ameya focused on increasing the potency of her chakra and tried establishing a better connection with her chakra. She could feel it hardening a bit under her skin more. This was enough to for her to feel that she made some progress.

Having increased her chakra’s potency, she wanted to focus now on being able to make her chakra explode. She felt the best way to master this was focusing on how to get her chakra to actually expel from her body. She did many touch based chakra techniques and found that the two things weren’t so different after all. When letting her chakra flow from her body into another, she just needed to learn how to make it explode out as well.

She focused on her regular chakra and tried pushing it through her fingers. It wasn’t as difficult as she thought it would be. Especially given that she could already use chakra in this manner. The hard part was getting it to transfer from other parts of her body. She continued to focus on her regular chakra and tried having it come out of her foot. This was a bit harder than doing it from her hand, but it was also pretty simple. It was probably walking on water and other jutsu that made it simple.

Now she wanted to get her regular chakra to seep from her abdomen. This actually proved to be quite difficult. Her chakra points around that area were made to keep the chakra flowing, which she knew because of her being a Hyuuga with a great understanding of chakra points. She continued to focus on doing it, but still no luck. She felt her concept of how to do so was off, so she released her Byakugan and started looking around that area at other dream people in order to get a better understanding of their chakra systems.

The chakra points around the abdomen swirled and it didn’t really seem like a good place to expel chakra. But she continued to study that on passerby’s and try to figure it out a bit better. It was difficult to understand that chakra seemed to really flow through this area the best. It was the center of the body, of course. She watching people, she focused on how the chakra would swirl through there body. Normally as a Hyuuga, she would only watch how to stop it, so this was a unique perspective for her to view it.

As she watched, focused on her own chakra flowing through that point and felt the path it was taking. She knew her to expel her Hyuuga chakra out of her body for the couple of techniques she knew, but that was the absolute extent of her knowledge. She tried mimicking that with her regular chakra and some of it flowed out pretty easily. She felt accomplished doing so, so she tried it again this time she directed the flow from her body, out into the open world.

Now focusing her chakra, Dream Ameya focused on the chakra in her back. It was the same chakra points in her stomach, but now she needed to push it out of the opposite side of her. Not only that, she needed to do the same to her stomach at the same time. She continued to focus on her chakra and found that she did this pretty easily now. She was able to expel her regular chakra from her entire body, from head to toe.

The final part of Dream Ameya’s training was not doing this with her regular chakra, but letting her chakra explode was a whole different element. She expelled her chakra from all of her Tenketsu at once, but it didn’t explode. At least she was able to actually push it out of her body. So it wasn’t a complete failure. She focused on her chakra again, and felt the flow throughout her body.

She increased the ferocity of her chakra being expelled and was able to push it out a little harder this time. It wasn’t quite an explosion of chakra, but a small burst. It was still better than what she had been doing. She continued to focus on that flow of chakra and increased its pressure throughout her body once more. And with a hard push, using all of her might, she was able to get her chakra to burst from her body like an explosion.

She wasn’t done yet. She still needed to use her chakra that was meant for enchantments in the same manner. She tried expelling it, but it was a bit more difficult to make it burst from her body. The chakra was much more intense and potent than her regular chakra. She focused on it some more and was finally able to get it to burst from her body. She surrounded herself with Dream Creatures and let the burst hit them all in a fifteen meter radius, they were powered up and ready to go.

Studying the actual perception of shadow was something Dream Ameya focused on for a bit of her time. Shadow perception allowed her to use her chakra to create somewhat real genjutsu to create obstacles and other various things. Dream Ameya focused her chakra into her shadow and tried to feel out a different world than what she knew now. The chakra she was trying to use was actually very different than what she was used to. It was a new way of forming it.

In order to really understand it, she focused on her chakra and tried bending her shadow with it. The least she could do was alter her shadow in her mind. It was genjutsu after all. She closed her eyes and had a very clear picture of what she was doing with the shadow perception. She perceived it was something tangible and in her mind she was able to move her shadow. Her physical shadow of course made no alterations.

After feeling the change in her actual chakra, Dream Ameya began focusing on altering her actual shadow. This was much more difficult, but she was still somehow getting somewhere with it. She could definitely tell that her chakra changed from what it was when focusing on this perception. She didn’t have any techniques in the perception to actually alter it, but she definitely knew that she would be able to learn them now.

Having learned the actual perception for shadows, Ameya focused on actually grasping control of her shadows as well. She tried moving her shadow during the perception training, but she wasn’t able to do so. So moving it during a technique that was actually meant to accomplish just that was definitely the next step. She focused her shadow chakra on her own shadow and tried altering it to create something. Naturally she failed to do so.

Perhaps she was trying to do too much with the shadow without knowing enough. So Dream Ameya focused on altering her own shadow, while still attached to her. Still, nothing happened. But her chakra did seem like it reacting to using the technique like that a bit better. So she performed the weaving motions of hand seals and tried again. This time there was some success. She stood still, watching her shadow and she was able to make her shadow wave at her.

Her chakra let go of her shadow quickly as if nothing has ever happened. She performed the hand seals again, this time succeeding much easier. Her shadow started to dance around, never leaving the ground and remaining connected to her. She tested the jutsu and tried getting her shadow to walk away, but there was no success. She tried making it come out of the ground and it still didn’t work. Though she was able to get it to grow and be more threatening, and shrink and be more timid. That to her was a success.

Description: Affects anyone who sees a shadow the user targets that is Large or smaller. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 7 meters plus 6 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for as long as the user Concentrates. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. User cannot change their innate shape, but can increase or decrease its size by 50%, cause them to appear menacing (or timid), or anything else the user can imagine. The user cannot cause them to leave their flat surface, or move away from their object or person, or harm anyone in any way.

Being somewhat versed in concealment, thanks to the skill sneak and the an enchantment designed to lose someone that is chasing her, Dream Ameya figured the next best jutsu for Real Ameya would be Dead End. This jutsu made them harder to track, even allowing them to evade those that tracked by scent. So having gained basic control over shadows, now she focused on using that control to conceal her tracks with the shadow. She focused her chakra, continuing to keep a grasp on how shadow chakra felt, and focusing on using it to hide ways of detecting her.

It was difficult to get her shadow to cooperate with her. Her shadow in her mind would just laze off like Real Ameya and not cooperate at all. It seemed Shadow Ameya was much like Real Ameya in its laziness. Dream Ameya still focused her chakra, trying to take control of the laziness of her shadow. It was a hard fought battle, but she managed to somewhat avert the laziness of the shadow. She used on of her creatures and it was still able to smell her scent, the it hadn't worked entirely.

So she focused and fought with her illusionary shadow once again. Her Dream Shadow fought hard, but was no match for Dream Ameya. This time it completely masked her scent. She then tried to get it to mask the next sense, sight. It should have been the first, but it wasn't. The shadow concealed her, without fighting back much. It seemed to have given in resisting since she already gained enough control to mask one of the senses. She continued to use it until she was able to completely mask the senses someone would need to track her and she was able to hide completely from her monsters.

Description: Affects anyone who is searching for 5 creatures per class level touched. The user is able to perform this technique on the target they touch. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 hours per class level. This technique may be negated. This Jutsu flawlessly disguise the spoor left by the targets, concealing their tracks, scent, and other signs of their passage with an illusion that defeats even the senses of taste and touch. Any creature searching, using the scent ability, or tracking abilities in the area the targets pass through is considered to be interacting with the illusion and may make a save to disbelieve. Creatures that succeed at the save may detect the targets' passage but suffer a -1 rank in the Jutsu they are using to track the targets of the Jutsu or find signs of their passage. Creatures merely passing through an area the targets passed through do not count as interacting with the illusion.

It was time for Dream Ameya to take her training to the next level. She was able to move the shadow, but she wasn’t able to get it to break free from her. The jutsu she wanted to master didn’t have anything to do with preventing movements, it was more along the lines of concealing herself or others within a shadow. So to start, she focused on changing the shape of her shadow on the ground.

This was a bit different than just making the shadow dance around. Making it change shape entirely was difficult. Yet, the results were starting to show already. Her shadow stretched and broke up a bit and formed a net. It was all in her minds eye, but that was the beauty of genjutsu, they were all in ones head. Now it was time for her to make the genjutsu real.

Weaving hand seals together, Dream Ameya focused her shadow perception based chakra throughout her body and focused it into her shadow. The shadow rose from the ground and formed a net in front of her. She focused her chakra even further and covered her body with the net. The net concealed her pretty well and she was able to avoid being seen from further away.

The duration of this technique lasts for 3 rounds. This technique may be negated. The net does not hamper movement, but a creature enfolded in a net cannot see beyond 2 meters, even with darkvision. The folds of a net hide the creature within it, giving the creature 9/10ths concealment making it difficult for the creature to be hit. The net also hampers the enfolded subject's own attacks, granting 9/10ths concealment to creatures within 2 meters and total concealment to creatures more than 2 meters away.

Creating a bolt of shadows and using it as a weapon was the next step. Dream Ameya considered all of the possibilities she could do with this technique. She was able to make the bolts of shadow appear to be anything she wanted, which brought brought out her imagination. Though Real Ameya would more than likely just attack people with pillows and blankets made of illusion. She focused her chakra and tried to form an illusionary shadow kunai in her hand and struggled to do so.

She didn’t give up with that though and formed in her mind a mental image of the kunai. She started filling her minds eye kunai with shadow perception base chakra, which in turn helped her mold it in her hand to that kunai. After doing this for some time, she weaved her hands together. Her chakra formed the kunai pretty easily, so she felt pretty accomplished with that. However the technique was not mastered yet.

She wanted to create something more creative and decided to attack with a smiley face. So she weaved her hand seals and used a mental image in her mind to create that smiley face. The face laughed and smiled and did all sorts of illusionary things. She then hurled the smiley face at a tree and watched it impact it slightly. She then weaved hand seals again and this time was able to create ten of them and hurled them at her creatures just for good measure.

Illusory Bolts

Effect: Bolts of Illusory energy seemingly spring from the user's outstretched hands.

Description: Affects 5 where no 2 may be more than 10 meters apart. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 30 meters plus 15 meters per class level. The duration of this technique is Instantaneous. Illusory bolts strike unerringly (since the user's mind determines the flight path of the bolts), even if the target is in melee combat or has less than total cover or total concealment. Specific parts of a creature can’t be singled out. Inanimate objects are not damaged by the Jutsu. For every Class Level the user may hurl 2 Illusory Bolts. If the user fires multiple bolts, they can have them strike a single creature or several creatures. A single bolt can strike only 1 creature. The Jutsu can assume any appearance the user desires (i.e., small flaming skulls, pulsing orbs of electricity, globs of acid, shards of ice, etc.), each target receives a save to resist the damage they inflict. If the save fails, the target suffers "D" Rank worth of damage per bolt. If the save is successful, the target only 20% worth of damage, so 5 Illusory Bolts would feel like 1 believed Illusory Bolt.
