    With a deeper understanding of throwing, he wanted to improve this new one that he had stumbled upon by accident. It felt like the natural progression to the double toss would be to hit two different targets using the same throwing method. He felt that it was within his power to do, and with a little bit of practice could be accomplished. He turned forty five degrees to his left to suitable targets. Two woodland trees, almost identical to the one he had already been training with, were six and seven meters away, and only two meters apart. 

    He felt that there wasn't a better time nor place to practice this specific technique, so he reached behind in his butt bag, drew two bo shuriken, and assumed the overhand throwing stance. He aimed quickly and threw immediately so that the bo shuriken struck both targets. He felt pleased with himself as he took it as a confirmation that he was on the right track. He drew two more bo shuriken, assumed the overhand throwing stance, took quick aim and threw them both more confidently. The bo shuriken struck harder and with more accuracy. 

    He continued to practice the twin throw technique so that both trees acquired their own cluster of bo shuriken on their trunks. He continued throwing and the results were favorable. It seemed that he had a knack for this particular throw, so improving it would be exciting. As he threw another twin throw of bo shuriken, he wondered what else he might do to improve on this technique. He wanted to try throwing three shuriken at a time next.

    Inoryu went to retrieve the bo shuriken and returned to his location. With curiosity as his drive, Inoryu drew three bo shuriken wondering if throwing three of them at once would be successful. Three black and sharp iron lines stuck out from his grip as he held his stance. He took quick aim of the closer tree on the left six meters away. He executed his throw and watched as the shuriken had aligned with his intention. 

    The three bo shuriken stuck into the tree within centimeters of the other with a three heavy 'thuds'. Inoryu was pleasantly surprised that his ideas did have some realism to them. He decided to do it again in case it was a fluke. He drew three bo shuriken and assumed the overhand throwing stance. He took quick aim of the tree and threw the three shuriken so that they all clustered with the first throw. 

    There was a pleasant feeling that went with throwing two, even three shuriken at a time. He wondered if he favored this technique, or if he was in a flow state. He went over to the tree and retrieved his six shuriken while giving all of his focus to the present moment. He was very confident with that technique and just as he had done with the twin throw, he wondered if he could hit three different targets within range. His curiosity was driving him forward.

    There was another woodland tree, with a four meter wide trunk that was three meters to the left of the two other trees he had been targeting. He wondered if it was possible to strike all three trees with shuriken. He has never seen or heard of it done, but he figured if anyone could learn it, it would be him. He reached behind to his butt bag, drew three bo shuriken and assumed the overhand throwing stance. He took quick aim of his targets that were at most seven meters away and five meters apart.

    Before throwing, he worked the bo shuriken in his fingers. He altered his grip to match his intentions. The first bo shuriken was gripped at an exact location in his fingers, and so were the other two. He readied himself mentally as well, offering his full attention to the task at hand. With each bo shuriken primed in his fingers for the task, he threw them masterfully and the bo shuriken each stuck into their target. The three trees had identical shuriken sticking from them in the center of their trunks. 

    Inoryu felt an emotion, something akin to relief and pleasure, as he witnessed his curiosity find substance. He was managed to do something on his own and now that he had a feel for it, he wanted to do it again more quickly and effectively. He drew three bo shuriken from his butt bag, assumed the overhand throwing stance, took quick aim and threw. Again, the bo shuriken would stick into the tree trunks more firmly adjacent, even touching the previous shuriken. One by one, the previous bo shuriken each fell to the ground as they were replaced with the last ones.

Description: The user must have at least 1 free hand (holding nothing) to use this technique. Once per round when the user is attacked from a ranged weapon, the user may deflect it so that they do not take any damage from it. The user must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed. Attempting to deflect a ranged attack does not count as a movement. Usually massive ranged weapons (such as boulders or ballista bolts) and ranged attacks generally by natural attacks cannot be deflected.
Limit: Must be a Throwing Specialist. Must know Ranged Disarm.

    Inoryu felt as though he had warmed up with the art of throwing so he was ready for a more interactive training experience. He weaved his fingers for the shadow clone jutsu and shadow clone appeared into existence through a puff of smoke. They stood fifteen meters apart with the understanding that they would have a sparring session. The shadow clone's constitution was stronger than average and wouldn't disappear for more blows thanks to Inoryu's chakra trait. There was a silence through the training area, the calm before the storm. 

    Both slowly reached behind them to their butt bags and in an instant, the shadow clone drew two bo shuriken and threw them after aiming quickly. Inoryu had drawn his own to bo shuriken to match and analyzed their flight trajectories. He threw his bo shuriken and the four shuriken clashed so that they stopped mid flight or veered off in different directions. This revealed the shadowed object, a third bo shuriken hidden in the shadow of the first. The shuriken was closing in quickly and there was hardly any time to react. 

    Instinctively, Inoryu moved his hand upward to defend his chest. The bo shuriken were long pikes of black steel with a grip. The shuriken was so close that he wasn't sure if he would be able to dodge successfully so the only chance that he had was to deflect the shuriken away with the grip. His hand was already moving towards it instinctively so he used that same hand to knock away the bo shuriken safely and it was sent off course harmlessly to his left. Inoryu drew three bo shuriken, took quick aim and threw them before drawing two more bo shuriken, taking quick aim, and observed the shadow clone's movements to throw when it was the best opportunity.

Snatch Projectiles

Description: When using the Deflect Projectiles technique, the user may catch the weapon instead of just deflecting it. Thrown weapons, such as spears, axes, can immediately be thrown back at the original attacker without sacrificing a movement or kept for later use. The user must have at least one hand free (holding nothing) to perform this technique.
Limit: Must be a Throwing Specialist. Must know Deflect Projectiles.

    The shadow clone had dodged the three bo shuriken by dodge rolling forward a couple meters. Inoryu had thrown the two bo shuriken as he did but somehow the shadow clone still managed to dodge by sensing the incoming shuriken and staying as crouched as possible to the ground. Inoryu had thrown two more bo shuriken and the shadow clone jumped out of range and threw several bo shuriken of his own. Inoryu dodged the first two shuriken by stepping back with his left foot, and rocking his torso back but the third bo shuriken was still headed straight for him. It seemed it was a mere second away from impact with his chest. 

    Using the same concept and motion of the deflect projectiles technique, he raised his arm instinctively, but rather than deflecting it away he realized that he might be able to catch it. With reflexes faster than he thought he possessed, he grabbed the shuriken out of mid air by the grip, only inches away from his chest when he caught it. He aimed quickly and threw the shuriken back immediately. The shadow clone moved out of the way of the shuriken easily by stepping to the side.   

    There was a pause and more silence. The silence was more prominent after the sounds of battle, the steel shuriken clashing with each other rang through the training area. Inoryu would begin to weave through two hand seals, and the shadows of the area would become deeper and more substantial while more shuriken flew at him from the shadow clone. He dodged one, caught the second, aimed, and threw it back. He then proceeded with a second series of hand seals. The shadows that have deepened would provide cover if the genjutsu was successful.

Description: When using the Deflect Projectiles technique, the user need not have a free hand. The user can deflect ranged attacks with their feet, a weapon, or an object in their hands. If the user successfully deflects the ranged attack with a weapon, the user may deal damage to the projectile that would have hit the user. The user may also attempt to deflect additional ranged attacks beyond the first; the user may make attempts equal to 1/2 of their movements.
Limit: Must be a Throwing Specialist. Must know Deflect Projectiles.

    Inoryu unsheathed a kunai because he intuited that his genjutsu was unsuccessful and he would need to defend now; he had given the shadow clone time to act. Since the shadow clone had seen Inoryu weave hand seals, he used it as opportunity to fire off an onslaught of ranged weapons.  Inoryu began to deflect the incoming projectiles quickly. The sounds of metal clashing with metal again rang through the dense woodland. 

    Inoryu deflected away four bo shuriken successfully but there were still a large mass of shurikens headed his way. He began to dodge them, moving fluidly as he was taught in the Yusashii Kusa dojo. He avoided two incoming shuriken with a side step to his left, a spin to his right to avoid another, and a one handed back hand spring to avoid another four. When he landed on his feet, a last single shuriken was still headed his way so he executed another one handed back hand spring and landed in a crouched position. 

    There were no more shuriken coming and he had managed to come out of the assault unscathed. Though he knew that he was barely able to manage. He tried for genjutsu a second time and he weaved through the eight hand seals quickly without interruption. This time the shadows of the woodland canopy bent to his command and concealed him in plain sight. In this state, Inoryu would be able to move around freely without being targeted as the thickened shadows warped and blended him into the shadowy environment.

    The shadow clone had detected genjutsu due to his sensitivity to it and immediately began to try to dispel them, but failed. Incapable of seeing the real person in this deep and shadowy atmosphere, he had no choice but to rely on stealth as well to defend himself. He began weaving through hand seals but was struck by two bo shuriken in his chest. Due to his stronger constitution, he managed to stay alive, yet, the shadow clone was aware that Inoryu would not allow him to weave the hand seals necessary for genjutsu. 

    The shadow clone remained open in the dark shadows and instead relied on all of his trained senses to alert him to danger. He listened for footfalls, he watched for giveaways to Inoryu's position, he was even aware of minute changes in the air pressure twenty meters around him. However, Inoryu sneaked closer to him until he was within ten meters and drew out three bo shuriken. He threw them at the target and the shadow clone took all of the shuriken and vanished in thin air. Inoryu released the genjutsu so that the deepened shadows that were prevalent began to lose their substance and remove themselves from his person as they wavered and shifted to become normal, insubstantial shadows once again. 

    He went to retrieve all of his shuriken and produced another shadow clone for a second round. This time there was no hesitation as the shadow clone, merely ten meters away, unleashed an onslaught of shuriken. Inoryu drew out a kunai and began to deflect each one with it. He deflected all eight, which was fortunate because anymore and he would've been harmed. He and the shadow clone were at a stalemate. The shadow clone also had a stronger constitution and wouldn't vanish so easily.

This means if the user knows Far Shot, Extreme Range, and/or Flawless Marksman, the user will no longer have to sacrifice a movement in order to hurl at such distances. If the user knows Far Shot they are able to throw at a 5th Range Increment while sacrificing a movement. The proficiency increases if the user knows Extreme Range, Flawless Marksmen, and Eagle Eye, giving proficiency to throw up to the 8th Range Increment while sacrificing 4 movements.     The sparring between Inoryu and his shadow clone had picked up intensity as they took a close quarters combat approach. Inoryu closed the distance while throwing a bo shuriken and the shadow clone ducked out of its way while drawing two bo shuriken of his own. When Inoryu was in three meters range, the shadow clone threw the bo shuriken. He expected them to hit but Inoryu had dropped into drifting snow stance and avoided the shuriken with falling snow. As he stepped forward with his main foot and lowered his center of gravity, the shuriken speared past above him. He continued the motion by shooting his off hand forward in an uppercut. 

    The shadow clone returned with rocking wind, stepping back half a step to roll away from the strike and and returning forward to strike with his main hand. Inoryu inverted his stance so the blow went past him and he returned with brisk wind. The shadow clone sidestepped the blow, drew a bo shuriken and threw it with an underhanded throwing stance. Inoryu expected this and inverted his stance to allow the shuriken to fly past him and returned by drawing out two bo shuriken and double tossing them with an overhand throw. The shadow clone ducked and immediately weaved two hand seals, all that he needed to initiate a genjutsu. 

    The glimpse of fear jutsu was successful and Inoryu became shaken and more sucecptible to fear genjutsu. Inoryu drew another bo shuriken and threw it but the shadow clone had decided to back off. He increased the distance between them by leaping twice over twenty meters. Inoryu knew this was really bad as the shadow clone had stepped out of range of his immediate throwing skill, but the situation was grave and Inoryu would have to do evolve if he would have a chance to beat the shadow clone. With a new sense of urgency, Inoryu drew out two bo shuriken, aimed quickly and double tossed with an overhanded throw. He could only hope that the shuriken were on target as he weaved two hand seals of his own.

    The battlefield was equalized with the success of Inoryu's jutsu and they were both shaken, and to his surprise, the shuriken that he had thrown were right on target. As the shadow clone deflected the shuriken with accurate strikes of his hand, Inoryu had already thrown four more bo shuriken in rapid, palm throws. If he was indeed capable of throwing at such a distance, it would give Inoryu time to work genjutsu while the shadow clone had to deal with that threat. Inoryu weaved through the eight hand seals while the shadow clone deflected and dodged the last shuriken and to the shadow clone's dismay, he was the subject of a genjutsu. Nightmarish creatures inspired by his latent fears surrounded him. 

    As the shadow clone perceived this, Inoryu took advantage and threw four more bo shuriken in rapid, palm throws. The shadow clone managed to disbelieve the genjutsu, noted the incoming shuriken, and barely managed to dodge by ducking out of the way. An instant later and he wouldn't have survived. Inoryu needed to keep up the pressure so he threw three more bo shuriken, the first two thrown at once, and the third was thrown rapidly into the shadow of the first. He would use this opportunity for another genjutsu. The shadow clone would experience a sense of dizziness as the ground seemed to fall away from him. His subconscious believed the genjutsu and he fell prone while also suffering debilitating effects to his attack damage and perception. 

    With the threat deterred, Inoryu took a moment to catch his bearings. He decided to leave the shadow clone alive and calmly retrieve his shuriken. When he returned all of his shuriken to his butt bag, he was ready for more. He weaved his fingers into the shadow clone hand seal and a second shadow clone appeared through smoke, ready to spar. The other shadow clone wouldn't be able to join the fight for half a minute, so he would have to deal with the fresh shadow clone quickly or be at an even steeper disadvantage. He was discovering through this kind of stress that he was capable of doing more with his throwing than he had imagined.

    The shadow clone appeared ten meters away, drew three bo shuriken and threw them in one fluid motion. Inoryu dodge rolled to his right and avoided the three shuriken but the shadow clone was taking advantage of Inoryu's shaken condition and seized the moment to weave through eight hand seals. As Inoryu assumed a crouching position, the rancid taste of rotting vegetation assaulted his mouth and throat, and his breath reeked of damp, rotting matter deep in the throes of putrefaction.  He was becoming horribly nauseated but he knew that it was a genjutsu. 

    The effects of fengut subsided as his subconscious disbelieved the genjutsu. The shadow clone had thrown a bo shuriken expecting it to hit his real person, but Inoryu was able to stand and snatch it out of the air. He threw the bo shuriken back immediately and used that as an opportunity to turn the tide and cast his own genjutsu. Since he was in the mind to train in the art of throwing, he choose a genjutsu that would induce the panicked condition called "jink's indescribable creep." It only took two hand seals to cast but would result in a failure. 

    Inoryu and the shadow clone were at a standstill, both observing the other's movements, ready to react at a moment's notice. In an instant, they would both begin to weave hand seals. Inoryu's hand seals finished first and he cast the same genjutsu over again which resulted in another failure. The shadow clone would take advantage of the person's shaken condition and cast a fear, mind-affecting technique. Phantasmal creatures summoned from Inoryu's latent fears came to life all around him but he wouldn't succumb to the genjutsu and they vanished as suddenly as they appeared.

    Inoryu aimed at the shadow clone and threw four bo shuriken in rapid succession while following his movements. The shadow clone sidestepped and inverted his stance twice to avoid the first and second, but the third was thrown in the second's shadow and he had not seen it. The shuriken stuck to his chest. Furthermore, the fourth was thrown in the shadow of the third and stuck a few inches below the third before the shadow clone even knew what him. In an attempt to take advantage of the situation, Inoryu continued with the pressure and threw two more rapid palm throws so four more shuriken were hurled. 

    The shadow clone managed to dodge the four shuriken with a butterfly kick backwards three meters and Inoryu decided to maintain the pressure even though he had leaped out of range of his shuriken. He threw single bo shuriken in rapid succession, throwing with confidence and watching as they flew directly to their target. The shadow clone continued to dodge, widening the gap for another five meters with two more back hand springs. The shadow clone sensed that his person was vulnerable and threw a single bo shuriken that inflicted a minor flesh wound on his shoulder. There was an understanding between them that the shadow clone would've been able to inflict more damage if he wanted. 

    Inoryu grimaced but the cut was quick and easy. He realized that he was overzealous with his throwing skill just now and it had left him wide open. His strategy to overwhelm the shadow clone had backfired, but he didn't necessarily think he had failed in his endeavor. Somehow, his throwing skill was being vastly improved. Now, and especially his throws against the shadow clone on the ground still suffering from vertigo, he was accomplishing feats that should be out of his skill set. Determined to master this new jutsu of the art of throwing that vastly improved his range, he wouldn't let this minor failure bring him down.
