[Wolf of the Falls]

Stories have began to spread throughout the Land of Waterfalls of demons said to trick and maim those unfortunate enough to wander into their territory. Many reports have spread of a wide grin and glowing eyes, though all victims have returned alive their wounds are all deeper than missing limbs.

The latest reports have reached Takigakure detailing the events happening again in a forest to the south near the border with the Land of Fire.

Hurry to the location before more victims can succomb to the dark force plaguing the land.

The light rain made for a misty afternoon, which was perfect cover for him. He was here to see this supposed demon who leads people astray which was ironic since he used tricks to do the same. His bone white arms that hung from his sleeveless clothing soon was hard to even see. He was hard to see in general as he gave the appearance of his background. He was chameleon but also a ghost. He wore dark heavy clothing that was not meant to be friendly.

He was a large six foot one broad man in a heavy sleeveless trench coat. Over his dark shirt was a bandoleer with his equipment that he carried. His arms ended in hands covered in dark gloves with reinforced knuckles and skeletal fingers. In His bandoleer contained a bundle of wire, a bundle of fine silk rope, six yo-yo's, a lighter, a package of cigars, a walkie talkie, a eight inch flash light, ten glass cutters, twenty pieces of flint, thirty bo shuriken, and thirty Hira shuriken. He also wore a darken leg holster with a four of kunai and a pair of knives. Hidden in the extra pockets of his coat was sixteen caltrops and an extra pair of knives. His face was recessed in the hood of his coat, but what could be seen was a weird three quarters mask that covered all but a corner of his face. The mask was special in the fact it had integrated goggles with night vision in them. In that corner he had an un-smoked cigar hanging.

Securely in another pocket was his soul along with books of his trade. The book of the Dead and Grimoire Mortalis as references were with him. His hands had wire twined through his fingers. His heavy boots were light on the ran soaked road.

The Chameleon Skin is a thin layer of skin placed over the Target's and attached making it the Target's own. When the Target moves they will bubble in the air making them difficult to be noticed but possible. User gains a Ritual bonus +20 against an Observer’s Observation.

Description: User's soul grabs hold of their body and holds it just off of the ground making their movements much more quiet. The target of this Jutsu is personal. Duration is 5 hours per Class Level. By performing this Jutsu the user gains the effects of walking on any liquid as if it were firm ground. Mud, oil, snow, quicksand, running water, and even lava can be traversed easily, since the subjects’ feet hover an inch or two above the surface. (Creatures crossing molten lava still take damage from the heat because they are near it.) The subjects can walk, run, charge, or otherwise move across the surface as if it were normal ground. Does not leave footprints. User also gains a +10 per Class Level to Stealth due to the silent running.

User also sees lingering auras where living creatures have touched solid objects much like a footprint. These lingering auras only last for 2 rounds and fade away.

Description: Affects anyone who sees a willing creature. The user is able to perform this technique on the target they touch. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 hours per class level. Shadow energies wreathe the subject of this Jutsu in a protective aura that stretches 1 foot from the subject's body. This protective aura grants the subject the following benefits: While under the affects of the umbral aura, the subject of the Jutsu acts as if he is 1/4th cover (due to the quasi real nature of the aura) and is considered to be under 1/4th concealment (10% miss chance). In addition, the umbral aura provides the subject a +20 to Stealth checks. The umbral aura does not interfere with the subject's sight. If an opponent attacks with a melee weapon and misses their Will Save by 2 or more, the umbral aura is hit instead and takes damage from the Jutsu used in the attack. Area of effect Jutsus also damage the aura, but as long as the subject fails their Save by more than 1 the aura only takes half/damage. When created the umbral aural has an amount of Armour Points equal to the user’s Armour Points from other Techniques including Temporary Armour Points.

The path of the road lead deep into the forest, ever turning ever winding. The rain misting the area made it impossible to see farther than 50 feet away from the road before everything disappeared into the mist. Light skittering could be heard but was it just the leaves being brushed by the wind? Was it the rain on the wood? The fallen leaves on the road?

A pair of eyes watched the man as he ventured along the road, 'deeper' into the forest. A low giggle could be made out from outside the path of the road arched by trees. The man was no longer alone and his companion had finally found a new toy to play with, until her broke that is...

Neosis's wing beats could not be heard but his eyesight better than a normal human's scanned the forest for the so called demon. The giggle helping him to hone in. The Bird was a massive black raven that was five feet long before his wingspan. Kuroki on the other hand continued down the path acting like he didn't notice the giggling though i was interesting that something noticed his ghost like form. While he was like this very few could actually see him. Either way though he was far from passive, He used his soul abilities to sense in the direction of the giggle to figure what he was dealing with.

Cat siths are inscrutable feline creatures that inhabit highlands around towns and cities. They resemble common housecats at a glance, but cat siths are supernatural beings that have the cunning of civilized races and strange magical powers rivaling those of fey. They're capable of easily walking balanced on just their hind legs and wearing boots. They can carry one object in their front paws when walking bipedal, though they cannot manipulate such objects with the fine control required to use weapons, wands, and similar objects. For 1d4 rounds, the affected creature cannot benefit from any Luck Bonus. Once per day they can perform what is called False Curse as a "C" Rank weaving movement. the target must be within 20 meters and ust be able to see the cat sith to be affected by the false curse (10 + 2 per Class Level + Impeccable Will). An affected creature takes a -4 to Saves, and -20 to Skill checks. Because this effect is not a true curse, the target gains a new Save to end the effect at the beginning of each day. This is a language-dependent, mind-affecting effect that can be affected by Cleanse Curse. A Cat Sith can learn Ghost Sound, Hypnotism, Rest Eternal, and Chakra Aura.

Most solid materials do not block this sense, but at least 2 meters of stone, wood, or earth, or 3 inches of iron or other heavy metal will block it, as will any solid sheet of lead. If the user has at least 25 Skill Points in Soul Wavelength then whenever they use Soul Tuning, the user can gain a general location as if they were using Blindsense, but only for the purpose of detecting things with souls. Also as an additional movement, the user may pinpoint the exact location of the soul as if they had Blindsight. In half a round action the user can gauge the Soul's Power. "D" Class Faint, "C" Class Moderate, "B" Class Strong, "A" and "S" Class Overwhelming. If the user's Class Level is "C" or lower, then they gauge an overwhelming Aura, the user is Dazed for 1 round. If the user has 50 Points into Soul Wavelength, whenever the user detects Souls, they can detect the positions of Souls as if they had blindsight. Also, as a Movement the user may detect the Alignment of the soul they can sense. If the user has at least 75 points into Soul Wavelength, then during the first movement, the user can also sense the alignment, and within half a round, the user can learn the soul's type and subtype, and also the basic makeup of their Class Level Specialists. This allows the user to make performances with Soul Wavelength at a range greater than touch but within the distance of Soul Tuning.

The entity took note of the bird, debating whether or not to eat it but that would be for later. It moved unseen, unnoticed along the trees while altering the world. Slowly the path before the man began to slope upwards like the base of a mountain, however in truth, in this little marble, the being had turned the path into a wheel like that a hamster would run through.

Over, and over, and over...

This was just the start as the Cait Sith remained cloaked and hidden within this world of its own. Hopefully, this guy could complete his epic unlike all the other scrubs that had come through and failed, no skill, no TP, so pathetic.

The Spectre of the falls smirked at such childish tricks at confusion of the path and his way. Though it was a bit more complex than his usual tricks as well. With a wave he signaled Neosis to go higher and to figure out just what was going on with the path or at least what he could through the fog. While Kuroki himself stepped off the path and into the swampy woods, but his feet floated above the water. He knew now that he was being watched by the vibration of souls but just where that observation was yet unknown. It was impressive especially when he was merely a shadow on dark water that emitted no energy nor vibration of soul himself.

Cait Sith's eyes narrowed faintly at the bird and had one of the branches flick at the flying rodent to convince to fly elsewhere. His focus however wasn't seeming much more entertaining as the feline saw the man step over the water and away from the path. Little had been happening yet so the sound of rushing water would reach the man as a large wave of water came rushing it him from his left, roughly 20 meters tall and 70 wide as it passed through the swamp like a bulldozer.

Neosis, the bird, was first to see the wave. His cackle could be heard even from the ground as he watched his master and whatever the force controlling the water face off. Either his master gets hit, unlikely as that was or the force was in for a surprise. Either way the bird found itself entertained.

Kuroki heard the rush of water before it slammed into him. He didn't even need to do anything special as it went straight through him without touching him. For his ghostlike appearance was not just for show but because he usually traveled in a state of between realms. Physical objects just pass through him like that wave. He didn't even get wet, but now he had a direction from at least chakra had been used. He headed in the direction it came from. His mask making it hard if not impossible to tell his expression, but he was now amused from whence he was bored.

The Cait would smirk was both the man and the bird were hit by its ploys. ghostly or not, this realm was the playground of the Cait and the spectre's luck had run out. In this place the Cait would do as he pleased however he pleased until he ate his prey. Now the trees would begin to shiver and move coming alive before their branches shot out to grab the spectre.

If the branches did catch the wanna-be ghost they would bind his limbs before the trees would explode and shower the area in shrapnel. The damage would be catastrophic if either the bird or the man suffered being caught or being pin cushioned by the shards.

Neosis made upset bird noises as he moved to a even higher elevation to observe from and evade whatever was going on below. He didn't want to get hit by whatever that first thing was again. Either way though he wasn't worried, either his master won and he would have food, or his master lost and if that thing was good enough to break that skeleton of his master's, just maybe he would have a meal still. Neosis felt it was a win win situation for him though his eyes were still looking for the apparent user of chakra arts.

Kuroki grunted as he was soaked even though he was incorporeal. Well that was an unpleasant surprise. Usually he was aware when he was under chakra assault of genjutsu or had transcended realms. This time the veil was so thin it hadn't existed in the first place. His thoughts flew through him as he took the effort to actually dodge for the first time in awhile. Very few things are prepared for a ghost, but still there was other ways. He was still a shinobi and knew his business.

Kuroki shook his head at the deadly prank attempts. "So creature, chakra formation and seamless veil crossing of others interesting. I know you can hear me, your moves are too precise for you to be far. Come and speak if you care. " Spectre himself though would continue to cast further and further to feel the vibrations of a soul, only constructs that were never alive to begin with lack this but they were rarely this good at veils and chakra.

A low giggle echoed through the area before a voice began to speak.

"I may be far." The voice spoke from beside his ear.

"I may be near." The voice boomed from yards away this time.

"I may be many." The voice said coming from directly in front of the man.

"I may be one." Multiple over lapping voices said out of sync.

In like minded fashion chakra signatures appeared in reverse order to the positions spoken and disappeared just as quick. The Cait would watch Spectre now that he was becoming more likely to play. Slowly the water itself would begin to ripple and dance as if a tremor was happening but no such event was occurring. Soon enough the ripples of water began to look like shimmering azure flames as they danced with the vibrations.

Spectre raised his eye ridge once more not impressed by the game with chakra signatures. But his senses was on the soul itself not on the chakra the soul could produce. Such a thing was much harder to fake than chakra. "Creature you are one and near. Your games doesn't change that. And you are a mischievous one it seems. Not the first I have dealt with and probably not the last. " He watched the azure flames careful to not let it touch him as it dance up from the water and vibrations. His passive eyes glowed as stealth was not working for whatever reason, so it was time to change tactics. But he still needed a bead on the creature.

"Hehe, what is soul if not yourself? if you may split why wont your soul?" The voice asked, though it was rhetorical as multiple souls appeared within the range as far as the man could sense before they all condensed into the water as black streams of flame before a quake rippled through the area raising to take form. First a massive paw would emerge with black claws that dug into the water before pulling itself up from the depths emerging as a massive tiger wreathed in blue and black flames while a green and a yellow eye stared down at the man while a low growl shook the world.

With a smile Kuroki did something he rarely did, he pulled back his cowl and reached up to his face and took off his mask, pocketing it. "Creature, there is more truth in that than you may know. So kind of you to reveal yourself, I am Spectre of Takigakure, you are?" There was no fear or even trepidation in the Skull's face. For Kuroki had revealed a face that had no skin, it was the visage of a Skull and one with the deepest black pits for eyes. Very few would count this man as human as well.

"Matatabi, the Two-Tailed Beast." The beast spoke in a different voice as the azure flames flowed over the environment and rewriting it into an ocean of black and blue flame against a black sky while the massive feline began to pace around the lich. His appearance effected the beast naught, it only cared if the half living being felt the pain when it's claws sank into it.

A deep rumble ran through the ground as serpents of blue flame shot out of the ground aiming to snake around and entrap the lich if he was too slow to react. However in this place his normally sharp senses were dulled to the point of a normal human's.

"Two tailed, eh? Why prey on people here when it must be more entertaining elsewhere." Even as Spectre spoke he sank into the ground and moved with the speed of the ninja he was to dodge the flaming snakes. His senses maybe dulled but his reactions wasn't. This realm was annoying on how the rules were at the whim of this beast. But that just meant it was a puzzle to solve. While he watched and dodged the beasts attacks, his mind was working on the bounds of this realm. And Since his bird was basically ignored by both him and the beast, it was in the best position to find the limits of this place and that was it set out to do.

"WAIT" The voice roared while multiple spiraling streams of fire emerged from the ground trapping the man while the cat looked down at him with narrowed eyes. The temperament of the beast would be hard to gauge due to it's manifestation as living flame but something sparked in it's eyes, like interest.

Slowly he beast would lean down poke the cage pointing at the boy within. The claw would crackle as black flame flowed off of it and the green and yellow eyes stared intently as the boy had now made it turn serious. "More entertainment you say?"

Spectre eyed the flaming cage with interest himself. An interest in making it one of his own flaming techniques. With a small series of hand seals, he produced a spirit flame in his hand and he held it up to the beast. " Yes I did say. Right now you are entertaining yourself on the lives of a few yokels. Funny for a time probably but is probably getting boring quick. I can tell you the location of a whole group of people who might give you the entertainment you seek. " Kuroki had a clever plan in mind now, and that was to get this beast to go play with the Hallow, those 'people' had more resources to deal with this.

"Hmm..." The two-tailed beast mused quietly before reaching forward through the cage to grip the back of the man's clothes before lifting him out of the cage and setting him on it's back. Despite being made of flame the creature was solid when it desired and it's body would be cool to the touch. The man had gained the creature's attention and now it was interested, best not to anger a tailed beast.

Spectre did not resist but now at least he was out of the cage. Soon he thought they could be out of the bubble realm that the beast had created. But his plan was vague and he needed to do some major thinking. How to foster off this creature or better trap this creature. Death was not needed in this case for the creature was just mischief and not malicious so far.
