Hana Ninpou: Hishou Tori (Flower Ninja Art: Soaring Bird)
Rank: "B"
Skill: Ninjutsu
Effect: Creates a bird out of flowers which the user is capable of riding upon.
Special: Handseals - Must remain in physical contact with the flower creation.
Drawback: The user must remain in physical contact with the bird in order to keep it in existence. The user's number of movements while on the bird are reduced by one. Drains an E rank amount of chakra per turn in order to keep the bird flying. While flying, the user is incapable of using flowers that are more than thirty meters from the user's current location. Weak to fire.
Description: Sometimes, the opponent makes it difficult to remain upon the ground. Either they have obtained the field advantage or they themselves have taken to the sky. In these situations, the user must be capable of adapting, and this ability is the Ikebana's own adaption. Performing the required hand seals, the user will jump into the air. Underneath them, a great number of flower petals will converge, creating the appearance of a bird of the user's wish. The user is capable of creating either a smaller bird for greater speed, or a larger bird for more stability. Then, standing or sitting upon the bird, the user will continuously channel chakra from their feet into the bird in order to keep it in existence, and will then control the bird's motions by such chakra. Some speed is sacrificed by the user in order to maintain the bird, which is not exactly promisingly well-composed, dropping the user's number of movements while on the bird by one.
Limit: Must be in the Ikebana Clan. Must have Mastered Ikebana.
Training Points: 0 | 60
"I want to die. I want to die. I want to die."
Over, and over again, the self disgraced kage repeated these words as he lay sprawled out against the grass within a dense forest of Kusagakure.
Kenta. Amarisu. Aka. Tengoku. Mother. Baek. Itsuki. All of them were gone now. Friends, family. Disappeared or dead. He had nobody now. Nobody to confide in. Everything he had hoped to accomplish by abandoning his position was up in smoke, set ablaze by life's cruel joke. Yet no tears fell. By now, Toge had cried his heart out, unable to shed any more. His current state was something more akin to a comatosed hospital patient. He'd barely eaten. He was indeed nothing short of a wreck.
Having barely slept or eaten, his energy was at an all time low. Toge didn't care anymore. He truly didn't. Sunlight was barely able to penetrate this dense forest, but directly overhead, he could make out the details above.
"It's such... a clear day..." Toge said to nobody in particular., looking upwards. Indeed, there was no clouds to interfere with this pure blue canopy above. But staying awake was too hard. Much too hard right now. He just... didn't have the energy for it right now. He was probably about to die, wasn't he? ...So be it.
As he was about to accept this undeserving fate, however, he noticed something above. It was a simple thing, but he was hit with a flash of inspiration. Of desire. However...
"It's too late though... isn't it?" he thought to himself, vision fading to black. Before his eyes closed for what he believed to be his last time, petals began to swirl around him. And all he could think was, "...how pretty."
The Ikebana, however, did awake, and it was the dying squeal of a creature in the forest. Blood of the animal had spilled out, and all over him in the process. So it was unable to fight back? Then that meant.. well, it didn't matter. Like any creature, crawled over to this kill. He wasn't sure how it died; he only saw a dead animal. He couldn't help himself, and just dug in. He wasn't thinking. It was an instinctual, primitive response, and he wasn't exactly in a position to argue with what his body craved. Needed. Nor had he realized the drastic change of location.
It wasn't until he had eaten his fill that Toge Ikebana truly came to. Several thick vines of Dokutsuru had ensnared and penetrated the body of this creature. Surely, somebody had saved him, right? But when he looked around, he was the only person around. Not just that, of course, but the change of location was now very obvious to him. Whereas before, he was located in a thick, dense part of Kusa no Kuni, he was now surrounded by various flowers as far as the eye could see. In the distance, he could see out the mountainous region that he had been in previously, near the Tsuchi no Kuni and Kusa no Kuni border. He had been way up there, so how did he...?
He felt weak. Not because of hunger, however. He was tired, as if he had used a multiple jutsu. That was when Toge realized that he must have used a jutsu prior to falling unconscious. Reflecting on the events prior to passing out, he deduced that he must have either utilized some sort of teleportation technique, or a means of transportation. However, he deduced the latter to be the more likely, even if this entire scenario was unlikely. If that was the case, then... why not replicate it? His body had acted out on a desire to live, and it wasn't like he had no inspiration. After all, an Ikebana's limit to what they could do was only as limited as their imagination. And that same imagination had been one of his stronger suits.
Toge remembered what he had seen prior to losing consciousness. He wondered if he had utilized a jutsu while his body had shut down based on that image. Well, if that was the case, then he could do it again. He would do it again. And he would succeed. Reaching into his cloak, he took a few rafflesia leaves, and began to consume them to regain chakra. "Alright then..." It was time to start.
Toge was effectively a 'master' of the Ikebana family techniques. There was no denying his skill. But now, he had nobody to teach him. He was completely alone now. Still, that wasn't enough to deter him right now. His desire to linger was so strong that even if he simply existed in this world, then he believed he should make the most of it. He wanted to die, that was true. But he wasn't going to kill himself. If that was the case, then the only logical alternative was to just... do something. Anything. Training was something, right? He had clearly used some sort of jutsu to get him here, and it would be heavily on his mind until he had gotten it down.
After weaving a set of hand seals, Toge focused his chakra beneath him; the field of flowers would make this the absolutely perfect training ground for him. He tried to imagine the bird in head. The same one he had seen. Focusing his chakra, he noticed that the flowers right beneath him seemed especially lively in response to how his chakra was spreading. He took this as a sign to back up, watching as the flowers began to intricately move about, forming a... rather small bird-like entity. Indeed, the Ikebana had managed to create the floral bird, but this was not what he had in mind. It was just that-- the same scale. It needed to be larger. Of course, he'd already used what would have amounted to a B-Rank technique, and so to fix this, he ended up having to expend more chakra, adding on to it.
Nearby flowers flocked together, dancing in the intangible energy as they glued themselves to this construct. Toge sat upon this bird, only for it to fall completely and utterly apart. Naturally, he was disappointed, but the only other thing to do was to try again.
"...try again, huh..." he repeated to himself.
