Patterns contain an additional, mind-affecting element, and they can cause real, physiological effects. All patterns are Mind-Affecting Jutsus. While everyone sees a color spray, only some of those within the cone actually deal with its effects. Note: that a particular sense is required for patterns to have an effect. Sightless creatures ignore Color Spray, for instance. If you want multiple subjects to be affected by what they see, and you do not care if everyone perceives it happening, pattern might be a good choice.

    The genin's silky blonde hair rustled as he moved against the wind, traveling by way of tree branches; he stopped to check his compass. North read at almost 180 degrees but was more specifically around 165-170 degrees. Perfect, he was headed Southwest for the neighboring country Land of Rain. 
   
     It was early in the morning. He took a minute to catch his breath; he didn't know exactly how far he had to go so he treated this travel like a marathon, easy pacing and patience. He had been travelling through the trees now for an hour. 
   
    Beads of sweat formed on his forehead and cascaded down past his azure colored eyes. They would drift until they were absorbed by his dark grey long-sleeved shirt, or the dark grey forehead protector he tied around his neck like a scarf. The sweat allowed him to enjoy the coolness of the morning more thoroughly, as well as the occasional perfect Kusa no Kuni breeze that he loved. His black pants caused his legs to sweat as well. He was enjoying the exercise  
   
    To pass the time, he remembered what he was studying the night prior. He leaped forward and continued on, thinking as he did so, "Patterns are like figment and glamour genjutsu as it makes the target hallucinate" he kicked off another branch and while drifting through the space, he continued his train of thought, "All patterns are Mind-Affecting Jutsus. And a particular sense is required for patterns to have affect. So this means if I wanted to use a jutsu then I need the target to perceive it through a specific sense like sight, taste, touch, smell, or sound."
   
    His mind went blank considering he didn't actually study any of the jutsu within that perception, but at least he had been introduced. He felt zen as he traveled, in a melodic state of flow through physical movements and mental aptitude, "I'll arrive in the Land of Rain in no time," he thought. 
    
    He would also be bringing with him an arsenal of ninja weaponry, armor, and supplements including the tanto he had tied securely to his waist with a black sash, 16 caltrops, 15 darts, five small discs, four knives, ten kunai; one with an exploding tag: ice attached, one attached with an exploding tag: lightning, one attached with exploding tag: radiant, 15 bo shuriken, 49 senbon, four blood increasing pills, four military rations, and one speedy healing herb all tucked into his butt bag. As for armor, he had light armor gauntlets equipped to his forearms, and matching greaves equipped to his shins. Lastly, he had a baseplate compass and a map of the continent to be sure of his location at all times. Soon, he would arrive in the Land of Rain. His excitement was almost tangible.

Consequently, Enchantments affect only creatures (and not all creatures). Enchantments are the "catch" all Jutsus that do not follow in the "Charm", nor "Compulsion" category and are the prerequisite Perception before moving into the 2 more advanced Perceptions.
Limit: Must know Pattern Perception and Phantasm Perception.

    The young genin drifted out of the forest tapestry and onto a road with a sign that read "Ame no Kuni" pointing Southwest. He would travel this road easily without any urgency, "I have all day," he thought, "It's still early in the morning."
   
    As he continued Southwest, he would remember more of what he studied the night prior, about a particular perception he was eager to learn, "The enchantment perception: enchantments affect the mind and cause the recipient to think and act in ways that the subject would not do otherwise. Jutsus from this Perception always have the mind-affecting descriptor. Consequently, enchantments only affect creatures (and not all creatures). Enchantments are also the prerequisite perception before moving into the more advanced perceptions Charm and Compulsion." Inoryu felt he would be capable of learning this perception well so he had already memorized the handseals for a few jutsu. After sutdying for about an hour, he practiced the handseals for about four hours.
   
    As he traveled down the road he would notice that the weather was changing from a cool, handsome morning to a grey and sullen overcast. It was also drizzling lightly. Inoryu took it as a sign that he was headed in the right direction.

Everlasting Gaze

Description: As a weaving movement, the user can target a single subject that is currently affected by the user's Hypnotic Stare to be subjected to the user's Everlasting Gaze. The penalties of the user's Hypnotic Stare and Bold Stares remain with this target for the next 24 hours, even if they are no longer in sight. During this time, the user cannot use their Hypnotic Stare, Painful Stare, or Bold Stares on any other target. The user can choose to end their Everlasting Gaze as a free-movement.

As he traveled down the road he would notice that the weather was changing from a cool, handsome morning to a grey and sullen overcast. It was also drizzling lightly. Inoryu took it as a sign that he was headed in the right direction.

The boy would feel something strange, maybe.

Itada was unsure the exact feeling a victim of the Sharingan felt when under the curtain of one of its' techniques, or if they even knew they were being affected. Regardless of whether the boy knew what was happening or not wouldn't make a difference. The power put forth from his doujutsu would creep on the boy like the most masterful of assassins, finding openings where ever they were, and infiltrate his body most stealthily. Unlike a genjutsu, this newly trained technique would not allow one to defend against it with sheer willpower– other measures would need to be taken. Fortunately, it wasn't a technique that could cause catastrophic damage outright. It needed to be combined with other doujutsu to fully be effective.

A sharp twist of the tomoe within his eye would bring about the doujutsu; though impossible to see from this distance, the Sharingan still poured its' influence into the boy's body. As he grew closer however, two things would happen: first, Itada could see the handseals the boy practiced, and under the gaze of his eye he recognized them as handseals for genjutsu, particularly seals for the Enchantment Perception. Itada himself also possessed the affinity for Enchantment perception, although he actually knew no techniques. Intrigued, the Uchiha deactivated his eyes and his Everlasting Gaze, and approached the boy with nothing but a hooded ebony cloak and a long sword strapped horizontally across his back.

"Those seals.. genjutsu.. Enchantment, am I correct?", he asked, intrigued that both of them shared an affinity, as well as by the Kusagakure headand hanging from the boy's neck.

'Kusa...', he thought to himself.

Description: Each time learned the user gains 1 extra point to their Jutsu against the opponent's save for the Enchantment Perceptions (Enchantment, Charm, and Compulsion). When the user learns this technique the 1st 2 times they train it as a regular "D" Rank Jutsu. When the user learns this technique the 2nd 2 times they train it as a "D" Rank Jutsu +10 Training Points. When the user learns this technique the 3rd 2 times they train it as a "D" Rank Jutsu +20 Training Points.

Limit: Universal GenJutsu Technique.

    For just an instant, Inoryu felt the most minute waiver of his chakra. As a genjutsu master he was acutely aware of his chakra but the sensation was so subtle and instantaneous that Inoryu blamed the disturbance on the weather and forgot about it. The clouds overheard were lined with grey, drizzling down lightly for the moment. He appreciated that the stranger whom approached him was wearing a cloak. "I should've thought to bring one," he thought to himself. Intrigued, the stranger asked about the handseals that Inoryu was practicing. He even recognized them to be handseals for the enchantment perception. 
   
    The sword's hilt was displayed over the stranger's shoulder, but other than that there was nothing he could really profile about him other than he was also in the Land of Rain and more prepared for the rain than Inoryu was. Despite not noticing a headband on this fellow, he could be a citizen of Amegakure; Inoryu would do everything he could to prevent an incident. He also decided that he would be as friendly as possible. If he was a citizen of the Rain, then he could leave a good impression on him as a ninja of the Grass and possibly improve relations between the Grass and Rain. He didn't know the current affairs between Amegakure and Kusagakure, but because they were neighbors and currently not at war, he figured they were at least in neutral standing. 
   
    "Yes, very good," Inoryu replied happily, "They are indeed handseals for the enchantment perception. You seem to be studied in the art of genjutsu. Are you perhaps...a shinobi of the Hidden Rain, friend?" There was thunder and rain began pelting down harder. Inoryu laughed at himself thinking that he probably looked like an idiot standing out in the rain without a cloak. He would shrug it off: a shinobi endures.

The figment follows that script without the user having to concentrate on it. The illusion can include intelligible speech if the user wishes. For instance, the user could create the illusion of several goblins playing cards and arguing, culminating in a fistfight.

"That I am", Itada replied, a little weary of the newcomer. It was not his fault though; the Village Hidden in the Rain had been through rough times the past few years and with it bred those who did not trust easily.

"I am more fluent in the illusionary arts", he followed his previous statement. A single hand rose from underneath his cloak, casually (as to not startle the foreigner), and with that same hand began the intricate dance of weaving hand signs. Naturally, he was more accustomed to his right, but extensive training had brought about a certain level of ambidexterity, and so he would dance through the signs like a natural.

With each seal completed came a shift in the Uchiha's chakra network; the first seal simply stirred the sea of energy within his frame, followed by the second, which would put an iron grip on the chakra he required. The remaining handseals would bring form to the technique the Uchiha aimed to bring to fruition. Upon formation of the last seal, he would release the burst of energy from within and bring it into the real world. Inoryu would soon be staring at a complete replica of himself, complete with visual, auditory, olfactory, and thermal components.

This of course was simply an illusion, of which the genjutsu master would easily be able to discern.

"There's a small clearing nearby under the brush we can use to escape the rain", the illusion spoke, as the boy would end up quite drenched if they stayed in the open.

"Itada, Seiryu.. genin of Amegakure", he introduced himself.

    Inoryu was wary when the stranger casually and slowly weaved through hand seals, but the Yamanaka did not sense any danger. Instead he watched, fascinated, witnessing one handed seals for the first time. When the jutsu was prepared, a replica of the blonde haired, blue eyed ninja appeared wearing the same apparel. So exactingly detailed the illusion appeared that Inoryu's heart sank. The illusion spoke and suggested to shelter themselves in a nearby clearing under a brush. Compelled by the auditory component of the illusion, Inoryu would investigate the illusion casually and discover that the illusion also had olfactory and thermal components. This man that Inoryu had stumbled upon, revealed himself to be masterful in the art. Immediately the Grass-nin wanted to find out what he could learn from him. 

    Inoryu followed the rain ninja's lead and introduced himself, "Yamanaka, Ino-Ryu," he enunciated. Slowly, as to not alarm the ninja, he weaved through a series of hand seals, first stimulating his chakra, then transforming it to his vision, then relocating it into the real world. A replica of Seiryu would appear at Inoryu's side, complete with auditory, olfactory, thermal (body temperature), and tactile value. This was a sizable drain on his chakra, but he wanted to determine whether Seiryu was an equal or more advanced practitioner of the art. 

    Seiryu's replica spoke in turn, "Good idea, let's get some cover from the rain." The replica held his arm out politely to the direction of the brush, and acting polite, Inoryu waited to follow Seiryu to cover. If Seiryu took a moment to scrutinize the illusion, he would determine that the ilusion was equal to his, but that it also gave the false sensation of being tactile.

    Though he wanted to measure Seiryu's abilities, both jutsu, he felt, were in equal standing. Inoryu's illusion was more convincing with the addition of a tactile component, but in order to make his illusion so; he had to weave through an S-rank amount of hand seals meaning his preparation time was much longer. Seiryu on the other hand used less hand seals,with a single hand, to create a potent illusion. Inoryu was eager to discover more about this ninja he had stumbled upon.

Itada would be sure to remember him with his blonde hair and blue eyes, and his aptitude for genjutsu. He too was unsure of the relations between Kusa and Ame at he moment, but he had received no word from the Kage or any other shinobi to be wary of ninja from Kusagakure.

In response to his near-perfect illusion crafting, the blonde haired shinobi first observed what Itada had created, and then created a similar illusion, only better; in the same way Itada had done, Inoryu crafted an illusion in his visage. At first, it seemed as if the boy had just created an illusion on par with his own, but there was just something different about it. He initially wanted to activate his Sharingan to study the illusion of himself more clearly, but decided against it. This boy seemed friendly enough, but in the shinobi world it was best to keep your secrets hidden from the outside world. Who knew what the future would hold– Amekagure had never been a peaceful place.

For some reason, Itada had the urge to touch the replica of himself and as he did, he was surprised to note the thing had somewhat of a physical substance.

'I see', he thought to himself.

Inoryu had created a tactile illusion— impressive; it was something the Uchiha had yet to learn to do himself. In response to figuring out what was different about the illusion, Itada would attempt to use the technique he had previously (Persistent Image) and craft the same illusion as before, trying to add the same tactile qualities to it as Inoryu had. When completed, his failed touch assured him that he had achieved no such thing. While he possessed some knowledge in the genjutsu art, it seemed that the boy in front of him had a true talent for it.

"Impressive, Ino-ryu. I have yet too see an illusion so masterfully crafted. Tell me, just how did you make it tactile?", he asked inquistively, proceed toward the clearing he'd mentioned; it wasn't too far from where they were currently.

    Inoryu followed Seiryu into the shelter of the brush accompanied by his replica of Seiryu. Almost as if the clouds had a haughty sense of humor, the rainstorm died back down to a drizzle. Inoryu attempted to use this as an attempt to change the subject, "Oh look, the rainstorm settled," he said. Hopefully, Seiryu would get the hint that he refused to give trade secrets to a ninja of another village, if he were, there was a huge risk his teachings would be used against the security of his village. Inoryu turned to his illusion and admired it for what it was: an exact duplicate of Seiryu to the untrained eye.

    The Yamanaka again observed as Seiryu tried to create a tactile component with his jutsu. Following the same method, a duplicate of the Yamanaka manifested. Curious, Inoryu reached out to his replica slowly. "Still no tactile factor," he thought. 
 
    As he watched Seiryu try to learn, for a brief moment it was as if looking at a reflection of himself. Inoryu remembered how he felt when he was learning how to imbue his illusions with the tactile factor. He was debating in his mind how to reach out to Seiryu without actually helping him, in a way that could improve relations between The Rain and The Grass without actually giving away his secret.

    A slight smile could be seen to manifest on Inoryu's lips; he had an idea. Releasing himself of the concentration from his illusion, Seiryu's replica seemed to vanish into thin air. When Inoryu had Seiryu's attention he began to weave through the S-rank amount of seals a second time, "Watch closely, I will only show you one more time." 

    After a moment, another replica of Seiryu appeared, with his cloak, his longsword, every detail of him copied. It was the same jutsu as before, performed in the same method. Now that the illusion was displayed for the Rain-Nin to study, he felt that he had a chance of being a Diplomat, or an Ambassador of some sort, due to his innovative diplomatic approach and quick thinking. He would continue to work on this with Seiryu as the idea of having that skill intrigued him. He would get the practice for it through this encounter.

The question the Uchiha posed fell on deaf ears, ignored by the genjutsu master in front of him. Instead of answering him directly, the previous doppleganger of Itada was cancelled, and the master illusionist performed his technique once more. With the curiosity of a cat did Itada watch the boy coagulate his chakra before transforming the energy into another mirror image of himself. It was here– in the study of another– that the young Uchiha warrior would learn just what it would cost him to create an illusion of such a caliber. As he watched the blonde haired shinobi execute his technique, the first thing he noticed was how lengthy the hand sign sequence was, and although Inoryu completed his seals quickly and efficiently, Itada still picked up on the minute details.

It was then that he would begin, masterfully crafting and executing each dance of the zodiac in response to what he was just shown. Unlike previously, where he had completed the basic prerequisites for the Persistent Image technique, the Uchiha extended the basic seal sequence by plus two ranks. It felt odd at first– extending the sequence and increasing the amount of chakra put forth into the illusion, but the outcome would surely be with it. As the last of the seals completed, Itada brought forth his illusion in the same image as before, Inoryu, and upon the replica forming, touched it much in the same manner as he'd done before.

This time, he could feel the physical nature of the illusion and where once his hand would simply slip through, he could actually feel the flesh of his creation.

    Without breaking his concentration from his illusion, Inoryu watched as Seiryu copied the lengthy hand seals necessary for the technique and produce another replica of the Yamanaka. For a moment, Inoryu merely looked at his replica with disbelief and thought, "Did he really do it?" He reached out his hand and his body gave him the false belief that the illusion was tactile upon touching it. "He really did. He learned the technique from a mere demonstration. This is no ordinary fellow... I have to be careful with this one," Inoryu thought. Inoryu's replica of Seiryu smiled and said, "Well done."

    Inoryu looked back and forth between Seiryu's replica and his own. Inoryu's genjutsu was more convincing considering all of its components, but Inoryu had already seen that the Rain-nin was capable of giving his figments those traits. Inoryu was more moved that Seiryu had learned the technique the way he did. The uncanny skill to memorize that amount of hand seals, and to discover and utilize the unseen method of chakra to perform the genjutsu. Inoryu figured that this man must be a genius of genjutsu.

    Intrigued, the Grass-Nin would stick around to see what else the Rain-Nin had up his sleeve. He wanted to see if what he thought was correct; if Seiryu may have more potential for genjutsu, or was even more skilled at genjutsu than he was. If that was the case, then Inoryu had nothing to lose by sharing what he knew, and everything to gain by learning more about Seiryu's capabilities.

The duration of this technique lasts for 2 rounds per class level. This technique may be negated. Garrett felt quick. In fact, he felt faster than he had ever felt before. Ever since the GenJutsu Master had performed the Jutsu, he could see straighter, and he knew that when the time came, he would be ready to move like the wind… This Jutsu allows the recipient to tap hidden reserves of speed and agility through sheer mental power. The subject believes in this so strongly that the effect actually manifests. Through use of this Jutsu, the user is able to raise the Agility of one subject by +1 per Class Level (+5 maximum boost).

The ability to give your genjutsu physical composition was a powerful tool indeed, especially when one's mind lacked the strength to resist illusion on its' own; now, even physical touch wouldn't be enough to encourage disbelief. Coupled with the thermal, olfactory, and audible components, it would be extremely difficult to see through his genjutsu now.

"You've taught me a great ability, Inoryu. Allow me to return the favor."

When he had first approached, Itada had observed the boy for a few moments, realizing that the seals he was practicing contained a lot of signs for the enchantment perception. This meant one of two things; either he was already proficient in the art of enchantment, or he was just beginning to dabble in its secrets. For Itada, it was the ladder. He had just begun practicing the perception himself not too long ago, and while he was still an amateur in the art, he knew enough to share with this fellow in addition to increasing his own skill. He hadn't come across much genjutsu wielding shinobi in Ame, so this was grand opportunity to hone his skills.

He completed a series of seals, much shorter than the sequence used to craft his tactile figment, bringing about another rupture in his chakra. It was slight, though, as this technique didn't need much chakra to utlize. Upon completion, Itada would propel the chakra from his body toward Inoryu's— no doubt the genjutsu master would feel his body being infected with a foreign chakra, but if he took the time to analyze it he would see that it was more of a beneficial nature than harmful.

"You may feel my chakra coursing through your body. Embrace it, accept it, and reap the rewards.", voiced Itada.

If accepted, Inoryu would soon find himself invigorated with the chakra of Itada's enchantment jutsu, increasing both his agility and speed; this improvement would come to him not through enhancement of his physical body, but through Itada's enchantment of his mind— this genjutsu brought about hidden reserved of energy in a being through sheer will power.

"This...is the power of enchantment, Inoryu"– his words were short, quick, and he waited for the blue eyed shinobi to react.

    Inoryu’s intrigue was peaked when Seiryu offered to ‘return the favor’. The Rain-Nin began a short series of hand seals and Inoryu felt a benign influence on his chakra. Having studied genjutsu, he has only ever heard of two kinds of genjutsu that may have a benign feeling upon introduction of a foreign chakra; the first being that it was an enchantment jutsu, a perception used to influence the target’s mind to produce real physical effects. He had studied this extensively the night prior. The other perception that may be taking effect is the charm perception, genjutsu used to fool a target that that the user is a valued ally.

    The Yamanaka took a short moment to consider the situation he was in. He had taught Seiryu a valuable technique and Seiryu wanted to return the favor, he didn’t sense any danger from Seiryu, and Seiryu encouraged Inoryu to accept the chakra and ‘reap the rewards’. This clued Inoryu to believing the benign chakra influence was that of the enchantment perception. The young genin accepted the foreign chakra since he was sure of his assessment of the situation, to further his understanding of the perception. He also believed that if Seiryu had ill intentions, he would have acted upon them by now. Inoryu gave no resistance and the chakra took effect.

    Suddenly Inoryu felt faster than he had ever felt before. To test this new found belief, he ran fifteen meters to a lone tree. His steps were light and the distance he ran was brief. Within seconds he was sprinting up the tree before somersaulting backwards from a height of twelve meters. Amazed with his own capabilities, he took a brief moment to analyze his condition, “So this is the enchantment perception,” he said loud enough that Seiryu would hear him in the brush, “It’s incredible.”

    He sprinted back to shelter and he had gained so much momentum that in order to come to a stop, he had to slide on the mud for two meters. Excited to experience more of the perception’s potential, Inoryu asked, “What else can it do?”

Any Jutsus currently active in the area that determine their effects by means of allies will likely fail because of this, and Jutsus that affect enemies will attempt to affect everyone within the 15 meters radius area of this Jutsu. Targets of Fractured Unity will not disengage from melee to heal others, request aid of any sort, or offer help to others. If an affected person has beneficial Jutsus that could affect themselves as well as others, they will perform them on themselves in preference to sharing them. (this does not force them to perform these Jutsus; it merely keeps the target from wasting them on other beings if the opportunity to use the Jutsus arises.) Any Jutsu or tactic that relies on supporting allies (such as flanking) also fails to work during this Jutsu.

T'was the way he had acted when he first discovered the power of the enchantment perception; it unlocked potential in a being they didn't know they had, provided boosts where necessary, and it could turn the most fearful of allies into the bravest of men— its' potential was vast indeed, and if one looked deeper, beneath the surface— such a power could even be used for darkness.

“What else can it do?”, Inoryu asked, clearly intrigued with the blessings of enchantment.

This question sparked a flashback in the Uchiha's mind– way back when before he became a shinobi. Fleeing from whatever force had chose to massacre his clan, he had remembered when his mother had used a technique of enchantment as they needed to take supplies from bandits out in the country side. She too was a master of genjutsu, like Inoryu, and where Itada had inherited and learned his genjutsu talents from. While his father was a headstrong and capable warrior, who'd rather cut down his opponents with a blade, his mother was a temptress, using her guile and illusions to get the better of any situation.

What she had done was barely noticeable, and if it were't for her play by play, Itada would have never know what was happening. Increased by the power of her kekkei genkai, she spread out her influence throughout the whole bandit compound and before they knew it, the bandits were at each other's throats, attacking and killing whoever they could. With a single technique, she had caused havoc and death among allies. When all was said and done, the vagabond group of Uchiha hadn't needed to lift a finger; instead, only opting to to ravage through the bandits stockpile of supplies.

"It can be used to buff yourself or your allies, influence your opponents in a variety of ways, and can provide courage and inspiration to those you deem worthy", Itada replied as he snapped back, pausing for a moment before he continued.

"If you are creative enough, such techniques can even be used for darker purposes."
