Ananta stood in front of a small lake. Up to this point it had been relatively windless though it was beginning to pick up, almost synchronously with the quickly overcast growing sky,
He was alone, eyes closed, and in complete silence other than the natural sounds of a lakeside.
He could feel his feet begin to tingle, as though it were asleep, and conciously he began to force that tingling from its original place in the center of his feet toward their bottoms. He kept it there as long as he could, making sure he had an adept control over it before he began to walk forward. His feet went from the soft grass of the lake side, the rocky and dirt covered earth of its banks and then finally he found himself standing on water.
He held himself there on its edges for a second or two. Checking once again to assure himself he wouldn't fall feet first into the water, after all getting wet wasn't a pass-time of his.
He left the shore in periodic steps and pauses, regulating chakra as much as he could.
He wasn't terribly bad at his chakra control, he was in a few ways quite good at it. Though he didn't even trust himself with his own life and would be far from casually walking onto the water without making sure he wouldn't fall.
His ritual brought him close to four yards off shore, it was deep enough that should he fall he would still be able to touch ground but he'd be soaked enough to also teach himself a lesson for failure.
If a fatal mistake like that were to happen on a battlefield where he was needed, it could result in the death of him and what ever allies accompanied him.
Though he knew that his caution would also be a detriment and he scolded himself for wasting so much chakra on getting out only so far off shore.
Another lesson in this, he figured, would be a lesson in haste and recklessness that he sorely believed he needed.
He brought his hands up from his sides and placed them together in a series of rather uncomfortable gestures, holding it as his chakra dispersed from his feet into the lake, cold water now fought gravity, pulling up his body and flowing into his mouth and down into his throat, keeping itself to the side of his throat, spinning gently as more water fled in. However the strain on chakra in his feet finally forced his hold to brake and he fell quickly.
The sudden fall scared him, his control over the water in his throat and upper body broke and it all fell, if not rushed, down into his lungs and stomach.
He panicked as he fell into the water, now fully submerged and mouth wide open, more of the now deadly fluid filed into his chest and stomach.
He found his footing again, closed his mouth and got himself above the water, even if only his head was now visible.
His hands moved slowly, forming different hand seals, focusing on the water that now threatened to kill him and closing it into a distinct shape in his body and with all haste shooting the water out of him in the form of a long strand of water that he put back in the lake looking entirely happy to be rid of it.
He burped twice on his walk back to the shore before doubling over and vomiting, most of it being water he had been unable to get out of his body.
Ananta moaned, wiping the fluid that had remained on his mouth with his long sleeves and then spitting into the lake with disgust.
His stomach hurt from the violent expulsion and breathing wasn't a cake-walk either, he considered stopping there. Too angry at himself for falling in than anything else, he almost wondered whether he could even pull off the jutsu.
Though thoughts such as quickly receded and he redoubled his
resolved that he needed to learn this.
He was born and raised in the Land of Rain. It would be entirely inappropriate for him to let a C ranked ninjutsu, an operation of battle that he was trying to learn, an unthinking unwilling non existent if not being used thing humiliate him when he was born to use water as his will dictated.
It was also going to be easier this time he thought, standing to face the lake.
He was already wet and wouldn't care about falling in as much now that this set clothing was already ruined, he had no real need in preventing a fall again.
He walked out to where he had been previously at twice the pace, which in truth wasn't saying much.
